Great site and location

We have stayed here before and have always enjoyed the experience. We always stay mid week and avoid school holidays and the site is quiet. Facilities spotless and for me the added attraction is the fishing available on the nearby river. Highly recommended

Great site for countryside lovers

Wallace, Stephen - 06/05/2022

Stayed for four nights in April 2022.The location of the site is just about perfect for countryside lovers and walkers, set in Teesdale right next to the River Tees and handy for many hiking routes from the site itself. Middleton-in-Teesdale is 10 mins walk, with shops, pubs and restaurants.Access to the site can be a little daunting since it's at the end of a very narrow half-mile track, For this reason, the owner ensures that all leavers have left before new arrivals turn up, and his arrangement works well. The site itself is a mixture of grass and hardstanding pitches, suitable for a good range of tents and vehicles. All the pitches are well-sized, but the grass pitches are particularly generous. In the years I've camped, the grass has never been worn out, even at the end of busy seasons. The site office also has a shop selling camping basics, as well as booze and ices, which is handy. One can also hire chimeneas along with logs to burn, which are very popular, particularly in the adult-only field. There is no play equipment for children, but loads of grass for them to play.Toilets and showers are contained in a central block, with four loos and four showers for each gender. While this used to be adequate, the site has expanded over the years so it might be time to reflect this in the facilities. Showers cost 50p and water pressure is poor. Half of the first 50p can be waiting for the water to heat.Similarly, the very small washing up room is inadequate to the number of pitches. For caravanners and motorhomes, the Elsan point is grim and the worst I've encountered. It consists of a lavatory bowl with a hose beside the bowl which leaks onto the concrete floor, so can result in a bit of paddling. The site is increasingly popular with seasonal caravans, so I would expect feedback from these to be taken on board in the near future. While I've criticised the facilities, these are a minor inconvenience when put against the fantastic location and indeed the friendliness of the owner and his family, which is why it remains one of my favourites.

Lerkworth campsite

Parnham, Claire - 06/05/2022

This is our 2nd stay at Leek worth after discovering it whilst driving a few years ago. I need to start by saying the staff there are excellent, so helpful and friendly. This site is in the most beautiful location, lovely walk down the Riverside brings you into the village. We had a stunning meal in Forresters French restaurant, which I highly recommend. I only have one 'beef' with the site and its that you have to pay for the showers. It's not cheap to stay at this site, but worth it for the location and staff, that said I think we should get the price of a shower included in the price.

Great Riverside location

Appleby, Matthew - 25/04/2022

4

Friendly welcome from the owner Robin on arrival, the site and facilities are tidy and well kept. The location is great and some of the pitches give an excellent view over the river. The access road is quite narrow but manageable for most outfits- although I wouldn’t fancy towing an 8ft wide caravan down it! The only real negatives are that the electricity supply is only 10amp and the grit based hard standing. The grit sticks to your shoes and gets everywhere so we were constantly sweeping up. These were both minor irritations and would not be enough to stop us returning. Would be good to have some pegs to tie dogs to when using the toilet block as I noticed plenty of dog owners thing their dogs to the picnic table outside the shop. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would have no qualms about booking again.

Dog friendly and very peaceful.

Place, Julie - 23/04/2022

Dog exercise field was great.Very peaceful and quiet surroundings. Lovely walks by the river.Enjoyed our stay and would definitely return. If looking to improve we would suggest a tap at the grey water waste, and improvement of the elsan disposal point. Possibly some form or drivable path or road onto the adult field for any bad weather conditions. But we thoroughly enjoyed our visit and these are suggestions not criticism of our stay.Thankyou and look forward to returning.
