Leekworth Caravan & Camping Park is situated on the outskirts of the historic market village of Middleton in Teesdale, and very close to Barnard Castle. The stunning natural beauty of the North Pennines surrounds our site and is set on the banks of the River Tees.
The famous Teesdale Way runs alongside the site and joins us to the Pennine Way and Middleton village centre, with its country shops and cafes, is only a 10 minute walk away.
With fantastic facilities on site including 1000 meters of free fishing on the River Tees, (rod licence required) and the surrounding area offering miles and miles of footpaths to explore the glorious countryside, museums, garden, attractions and so much more, we are confident that your stay will be one to remember.
We now have an adult-only section with limited pitches available (these fill up fast so you'll have to be quick to book!)
We do a lot of amazing things here at Leekworth Caravan and Camping Site in Teesdale, all managed and maintained by the Brough family. Robin, the owner, who is helped by his Mam Liz, and his Nana Lorna, all of whom have immense pride in their work to help you have an amazing time. Nothing is too much trouble for this family team, who strive to bring you the best holiday in the whole of County Durham.
The Leekworth Caravan & Camping Park has electric hook-up hardstand pitches and caters for caravans, motorhomes, and tents. We also offer seasonal pitches, pitch and store and winter storage. We have a newly built reception/shop and the newly built shower and toilet block has underfloor heating throughout.
Teesdale in the upper reaches of the Durham Dales has so much to offer, so much to discover and explore. From seeking out the caveman’s cave up Beck Road, to discovering the remnants of the old mines that litter the landscape offering a glimpse of a time long gone.
A visit to Teesdale offers an ideal holiday or short break, Teesdale is the inspirational Durham Dale with a spectacular unspoilt landscape and stunning heritage sites, here you can drive for miles on quiet, open roads, walk on waymarked footpaths, cycle along quiet country lanes and pony trek through heather and woodland. A large part of Teesdale is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and has a European Geopark status.
Please note, we have a strict no noise policy after 10.30pm and due to the narrow entry lane to our site, arrival is strictly no earlier than 2.30pm.

Really quiet site in a great location with free fishing. Large pitches and great and clean showers and toilets. There is a footpath along the river bank to the village of Middleton-in-Teesdale which has a Co-op, various tea rooms, a chippy, pizza parlour, Hotel which serves a great Sunday roast and a French restaurant with great food. There are lots of things to do in the vicinity: waterfalls, gardens, museums, and a bit further afield there is Beamish living museum, Hadrian's Wall and the cities of Durham and Newcastle.I will definitely be back.
Lovely site and pitch right next to river and footpath 20 minute river walk into Middleton
Made to feel really welcome by check in staff - friendly and informative. The pitches are well spaced and maintained.Amenities block was clean and tidy, nice big shower stalls. Good sized off-lead, fully fenced dog area - plenty of room for them to run and play ball. Wasn't the best weather wise so didn't explore as much of the surrounding area as I'd hoped but the nearby footpaths were well signposted.
Great owners, so helpful and friendly.Brilliant site, clean facilities, small shop and firepits to hire.Only a short walk along the river into the village, with a selection of shops, places to eat and bars.Adults only area is a big plus+Peaceful and quiet location.
The campsite was in a beautiful location. We chose to camp near the river, which was fast flowing and noisy in places. The toilets and showers were clean and maintained to a high standard. We enjoyed our stay and will definitely visit again.
First impressions were good. Although the grass could of been cut. Toilets nice and clean. The man that greeted us didn't have the best attitude. He could have been more helpful, as if he didn't want anyone there.
Lovely location, peaceful. Plenty of nice walks and roads close by. Robin(the owner) was always on hand if you needed anything. Shop was stocked with essentials and open daily. It was a very busy time(hay making) so not as advertised. But this was no problem. Showers and toilet facilities were excellent, clean and warm. Can't fault my stay, had a peaceful few days.
another 3 night camping weather was excellent very hot, easy check in ,chilled by our tent and paddled in river to cool down during day ,but plenty paces to visit, toilets and showers spotless, very friendly staff, will be back nx year xxxx
Great campsite and setting by the river. Friendly and helpful staff. Loved the dog walking field. Toilets and showers were immaculate. We'll definitely be returning.
