Situated on the fringes of the picturesque Peak District, Holme Valley beckons those seeking an escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life without breaking the bank. This family-run park spans three generations and is committed to preserving the natural beauty of the valley. Nestled amidst 16 acres of enchanting woodlands and meadows, it serves as an idyllic haven for nature enthusiasts and outdoor adventurers.
The park boasts a variety of pitches thoughtfully scattered along the riverbanks, lakeside, among the trees, and within the meadows. Each pitch is unique, providing guests with the freedom to choose a setting that aligns with their preferences. Whether you desire the soothing sounds of the river or the tranquillity of a meadow, Holme Valley Camping and Caravan Park ensures a personalised experience for all.
For those who prefer a touch of luxury without compromising the outdoor experience, Holme Valley offers glamping accommodations. Perfect for those hesitant to sleep under canvas, these options provide home comforts in a natural setting. It's an ideal choice for those who wish to elevate their outdoor holiday experience.
The park's recent addition of an award-winning amenities block elevates the camping experience. Tiled throughout with underfloor heating, the block features spacious showers, a vanity area with hair dryers, and baby-changing facilities. Three large family bathrooms offer a touch of opulence and can be hired daily. The park ensures that campers feel at home with a second spacious shower block equipped for wheelchair users, providing convenience throughout the park.
A small licensed shop, often hailed as well-stocked as a supermarket, caters to camper needs. From everyday essentials like bread and baked beans to unexpected finds like sewing kits and storage bags, the shop aims to be a one-stop destination. In the absence of a desire to cook on a camping stove, three nearby pubs and the charming town of Holmfirth, a mere mile away, offer alternative dining options.
Encouraging children to embrace the outdoors, a new play area built in 2022 provides ample space for biking, ball games, and woodland adventures such as den building, nature trails, and hide'n'seek. A willow tunnel at the far end of the New Field adds an enchanting touch, and a nature trail booklet from the shop or reception ensures that young explorers don't miss out on the wonders around them.
Recognizing the unpredictability of weather, the park offers practical solutions. Washing machines, a dryer, and ironing facilities in the laundry room come to the rescue when rain or mud strikes. Two washing up areas and two chemical toilet disposal points further enhance the convenience for campers.
In a nod to sustainability and evolving technology, Holme Valley has embraced electric vehicles. The park now features a charge point for electric cars located conveniently outside the shop/reception at the entrance, catering to environmentally conscious trave

Me and my partner decided to go camping for the weekend. We choose this campsite due to the fact I had been multiple times when I was younger. Over the years I have watched the improvements grow larger and larger. The toilets and showers are highly maintained and extremely clean. The on site shop has lots to offer and is well priced. There is good food services onsite with a van on the field which sells cheep but very good quality food. The rules are fair with noise which works out when your a family and you don’t want loads of noise. Or if you are a group of friends who want to make some noise to a certain time which is very fair. Overall I would highly recommend this campsite and I will be coming back as regularly as I can.
We had a lovely stay at Holme Valley camping and caravan site, the facilities are great. The family bathroom hire was brilliant and will look for this option on other sites we visit. The shop had everything we needed (always forget something) the childrens play area was great for our young granddaughter and we all had a paddle in the stream. The only thing I didn’t like was the number of unsupervised children, some of them probably 4-5 years old. On the Saturday a number of them made a den in the trees behind us and although they were only playing they were very noisy for a full 6 hours, this is obviously not the fault of the site.
Perfect venue for our needs. Friendly staff. Clean facilities.
Hello Trevor,Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We appreciate the 5 stars that you have given us Trevor. We hope to welcome you back soon.Kind regards,Olga
Lovely site. I always stay here when visiting Holmfirth.
Hello Cornelius,Thank you for your review and rating and specially thank you for your repeat visits to the site.We look forward to seeing you again.Olga
I was only in Holmfirth for two days to see the Mission gigs at the Picturedome. I decided to camp, which I hadnt done for some time, and cannot fault my choice of campsite. very clean toilet block, with excellent roomy hot showers. basics to buy onsite and an Aldi and Lidl a short distance away (walkable). Town centre is a half hour walk away, but there are regular busses to which I saw, though I preferredc to walk.
Thank you Paul for your 5 star review and lovely comments. We are glad you liked out site and had a nice stay.We look forward to seeing you again.Kind regards, Olga
Campsite good location for Holmfirth. Placed Bottom field 19 nearest toilet block. Arrived in rain. Pitch surrounded by long grass & muddy. Only 1 other pitch occupied, but whole field not mowed, so couldn't ask to move. Toilet & showers excellent &clean but had to walk over long grass picnic area to get to it then bit of a worn muddy path! Suggest, access to toilets would benefit from a gravel path. Tractor drawn mower arrived 2nd day of stay but our pitch & surroundings not mowed. Grass to toilet block not touched. 4th day a smaller mower was used to do a bit of a mow on the picnic area but then shot off. Asked at reception if our surroundings could be mowed when out. Not allowed mow occupied pitches. Receptionist said council contracted to mow. We like to sit out when weather permits , but didn't even get chairs out as no pleasure sitting out in the mud! Did enjoy frequent visits from ducks. Walk to town through woods pretty. About 2 miles. Camp instructions not correct.
I tend to book a cabin midweek to Friday when they are more available, although it is worth booking several weeks in advance if you're sure of your own availability. The staff are very friendly and welcoming, especially Linda who mostly greets me when I arrive. The Cabins are always clean and presentable and It's considerate to leave them as such when you depart them.I usually book a couple of nights and the 1st night is always the best. That's your unwinder. I recommend this site to anyone. The amenities on site include well maintained recently refurbished Showers, Toilets, Laundry & reasonably stocked shop. Easy walking access to Holmfirth, Brockholes and a couple of nice pubs.Bus routes aplenty. Top of Lancaster Lane 310 bus service at 30 minute intervals either way- Holmfirth or HUddersfield. And at the bottom of Lancaster Lane he 314 or 316 buses either way. Get it Booked.
A unexpected gem hidden away in the Holme Valley. Generous pitches arranged in small areas that felt relaxed. Facilities couldnt be faulted (there are two facility blocks equally accessible from the pitch areas). Central lake adds to the overall pleasant environment. Very handy to explore Holmfirth, Yorkshire Sculpture Park. A visit to the Hepworth Wakefield is also a great excursion (lots of dedicated parking but there is a 2 metre height barrier, however other unrestricted parking nearby). An attractive bit of Yorkshire to explore - an oasis tucked into the Oldham/Huddersfield/Sheffield triangle.
Hi David, thank you so much for taking the time to write such a lovely review. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay at Holme Valley and had time to visit some nice places nearby. We will look forward to welcoming you again since there are many more places worth visiting around. Kind regards,Olga.
We were so lucky to find this place as it was only by chance that we found it on our way back to Wales. The lady I spoke to was lovely and although the site was full she rang me back and was able to fit us in. Holme firth valley campsite is tucked away down in the valley, it has lots of nice walks and a small fishing lake in the middle. The toilet block is immaculate with great showers and a well stocked shop, there is also a wooden cabin in the tent field were you can order food from. It is about a 30 min walk into Holmfirth and it is also were they filmed "last of the summer wine", there are also some nice eating places and pubs to explore. The staff who run the place are all so friendly and alway on hand to help out with inquiries you have. Will definitely add this one to our list.
