Situated on the fringes of the picturesque Peak District, Holme Valley beckons those seeking an escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life without breaking the bank. This family-run park spans three generations and is committed to preserving the natural beauty of the valley. Nestled amidst 16 acres of enchanting woodlands and meadows, it serves as an idyllic haven for nature enthusiasts and outdoor adventurers.
The park boasts a variety of pitches thoughtfully scattered along the riverbanks, lakeside, among the trees, and within the meadows. Each pitch is unique, providing guests with the freedom to choose a setting that aligns with their preferences. Whether you desire the soothing sounds of the river or the tranquillity of a meadow, Holme Valley Camping and Caravan Park ensures a personalised experience for all.
For those who prefer a touch of luxury without compromising the outdoor experience, Holme Valley offers glamping accommodations. Perfect for those hesitant to sleep under canvas, these options provide home comforts in a natural setting. It's an ideal choice for those who wish to elevate their outdoor holiday experience.
The park's recent addition of an award-winning amenities block elevates the camping experience. Tiled throughout with underfloor heating, the block features spacious showers, a vanity area with hair dryers, and baby-changing facilities. Three large family bathrooms offer a touch of opulence and can be hired daily. The park ensures that campers feel at home with a second spacious shower block equipped for wheelchair users, providing convenience throughout the park.
A small licensed shop, often hailed as well-stocked as a supermarket, caters to camper needs. From everyday essentials like bread and baked beans to unexpected finds like sewing kits and storage bags, the shop aims to be a one-stop destination. In the absence of a desire to cook on a camping stove, three nearby pubs and the charming town of Holmfirth, a mere mile away, offer alternative dining options.
Encouraging children to embrace the outdoors, a new play area built in 2022 provides ample space for biking, ball games, and woodland adventures such as den building, nature trails, and hide'n'seek. A willow tunnel at the far end of the New Field adds an enchanting touch, and a nature trail booklet from the shop or reception ensures that young explorers don't miss out on the wonders around them.
Recognizing the unpredictability of weather, the park offers practical solutions. Washing machines, a dryer, and ironing facilities in the laundry room come to the rescue when rain or mud strikes. Two washing up areas and two chemical toilet disposal points further enhance the convenience for campers.
In a nod to sustainability and evolving technology, Holme Valley has embraced electric vehicles. The park now features a charge point for electric cars located conveniently outside the shop/reception at the entrance, catering to environmentally conscious trave

All reviews featured on Campstead.com have been submitted by genuine customers who have stayed at the park.
On Arriving the ladies were waiting with our information pack with a smile and very jolly, great first impression!! we found our pitch on hard standing opposite the lake and it was beautiful, clean and well kept, Great size. The shower block and toilets were well maintained and clean. The campsite was a recommendation and it didn't disappoint! Location was great as we walked to the town (25Min) and taxed back £4.50, There was a shuttle bus as well if needed. The campsite is in a great location and we will be visiting again very soon... Thank you for a wonderful stay.
We had a lovely location down by the river which was our base for the Folk Festival that weekend. Unfortunately it rained for most of the day and it was a bit challenging getting out 6 metre Peugeot Boxer off the site but we managed it.Nice to look across the river and trees, very tranquil
We found the site very easy to reach by car. Walking into Holmfirth is quite do-able — either along the busy main road (which has a pavement) or through woodland and quieter streets (much the better option). There are also local bus services which pass close to the campsite. All the staff we met were very friendly. The facilites were exceptionally clean. The site’s rules concerning music and noise later in the evening added to the peace and quiet. Holmfirth is a busy town with a good variety of shops. If you want to be certain of getting a meal on a Friday or Saturday evening in your chosen pub or restaurant it’s a good idea to book. Of course, there’s the cabin on the campsite that makes pizzas in the evening (and rolls, etc., for breakfast). The shop is well stocked and the prices are very reasonable. All in all, we had a really good short stay. The only thing that could have been improved was the weather! But we will certainly return next time we’re camping near here
Staff super friendly lovely setting and the pod was cosy and comfortable
First impressions were of a nice welcoming site run by really helpful polite and welcoming staff. The pitch on the pond was nice with plenty of space around it. We did use the shop which was handy and again run by lovely staff and the notice board which was handy. My only complaint came at evening time and early night time. There were groups of children running around unsupervised screaming and shouting, gathering around the barrier. Seems like a small thing but when you've booked a 'quiet', 'peaceful' stay it can be quite annoying. I would give the site another chance in case this was an oddity.
Many thanks for your lovely comments regarding the park and our team! I am sorry you were disturbed by noisy children. We don't have a member of staff working on the park 24/7 but we do provide a contact number which guests can call 24/7 if there are any problems and a staff member will come to the park to address any issues. We encourage guests to do this as if we don't know about a problem we can't fix it. Although we are a family park, we do ask that children are supervised and later in the evening 2 members of staff walk around the park and check noise levels and that children aren't playing in the play area after 9pm or dusk.We hope to welcome you again sometime.Best wishes, Naomi.
We had a lovely stay in the glamping pod. Grateful that the camping stove served food in the evening (lifesaver when we couldn’t locate a chip shop!). Very short walk to a beautiful restaurant. Loved our stay, thank you!
We booked a non electric pitch for our. Campervan for the night and were allocated a spot down by the river with trees on one side and the edge of some nice houses on the other. It was nice and quiet and tucked away with pitches for about 5 others. The toilets were very clean and modern. The location was great not far from the centre of Holmfirth. It did rain while we were there so the grass and path to the amenities was muddy so take wellies or suitable footwear. All in all it suited our needs.
Good stay at Holme Valley. Great bacon roll and delicious coffee for breakfast. Showers warm and clean. Excellent courtesy bus service into and returning from Holmfirth for the folk festival too. Much appreciated! My only suggestion would be to put more matting on the muddy patches to and from the toilet block. It's extremely slippery in the mud when it rains!
