Lodge was lovely, however with it all being open, felt like we was in a stunning bed sit, we were aware it was all open but wasn't for us unfortunately.Had we had known the bistro was not open this could have swayed our decision to book Herdwick as would have liked to have used the bistro on our stay.Lovely location. Did not see any staff except for the owner, we assumed who was working on the site.
The location is perfect, tucked away & peaceful but close to drive to all the tourist hot spots. On first impressions Overwater lodge was not quite the same standard as the Crummock where we stayed last year. There was a funny smell as we entered & the kitchen sink was dirty but the rest of the lodge was spotless. There was no hairdryer, no bathmat or hand towel for the second bathroom but after quite a lot of unanswered calls, someone got back to me & rectified this quickly. The hot lifter was broken, there was a big sharp screw right where you would be barefoot to get into the hot tub & more screws fell out during the week. The hot tub cover was falling apart & before first use I had to fish big prices of crumbling cover out of the tub. There were polystyrene bits floating in the water all week from the cover. There was also a scum line around the water line, the first day I opened the cover before use. Despite these first impressions we had a lovely time & will return.
The bar and bistro was closed and tried calling in advance of our stay to see if all facilities were open. Only received a text message when returning home. Toilet and shower block was dirty and hadn’t been cleaned for a long time. Shame as this site could be amazing if it had some TLC and someone who cared. The serviced touring pitch was good and perfect for our short stay. Wouldn’t recommend this site from my visit and hopefully it will improve once the warmer weather arrives.
We stayed in Woodland Boutique at New Year and were quite disappointed. We stayed for 4 nights. This is the 3rd time we’ve stayed at this site. The site is in good location 10 minutes from Keswick and seems popular with tourers and statics. We came back from a long day walking the fells to no power on several occasions which meant we had to ring and wait for someone to reset and come over but with very little signal this often took a long time. I understand the bar/restaurant close in winter but an office to attend with an issue would still be helpful. There is obviously a fault in the electric which needs fixing. The lodge could do with a few snags fixing. The bath taps leak on to the floor. The shower cubicle seal is broken hanging off. The shower does not work as it’s even replaced and no reconnected - if this is the case then remove the one that doesn’t work. The doors are very stiff so the door handle was weak to begin with then snapped in my hand when locking the door
Amazing view of skiddaw Beautiful large 4 bed house all with en-suites and great entertaining spaces Two hot tubsLovely log burner with ample wood House lovely and warm and a cozy feel Highly recommend we have been twice to the house and also to the lodges and will return again next year Very reasonably priced considering the amenaties in the house

Amazing accommodation, loads of space, clean, good cooker/kitchen. Hence 4 stars, things that would make it 5 stars1. Have the heating on for guests arrival - it was Baltic when we arrived 2. Have a welcome pack of a few coffee pods, a spare bin bag, milk, cleaning spray, hand soap on each sink3. Make sure the hot tub is at a usable temperature for guests arrival - 32 degrees is too cold so you lose a days useProbably due to the weather, there was loads of condensation in the accommodation- not sure what can be done about that.
Excellent gift for my daughter and her boyfriend thoroughly enjoyed it
We stayed as a group of 6 for the 2nd year running. It seemed as though 2024 all the stops were pulled out. Mid November 2024 the house was beautifully decorated for Christmas. This year, the last weekend in November not a bauble in sight. Last year - toiletries in the bathrooms, this year, nothimg. Frying pan not compatible with the hob. 2025 no attention to detail, especially considering we were a returning group. I sent this feedback to them directly. Have chased twice for a response - nothing backShame, beautiful house and facilities just lacking in customer care and service.
don’t get me wrong, a caravan (lodge) is always nice getaway. But at the price you are given you expect abit more. dirty dishes, unclean beds and a carpet which looks like a homeless man has slept on. the saving grace is th hot tub which is luxury, but it doesn’t make up for the rest. compelled to use the dish washer but only provided 1 tablet? making you almost want to go out of your way to not use it! a rule book a mile long with no benefits, don’t worry the wifi works…. oh wait. don’t worry the pub/bistro is open…. oh wait. overall if you’re going for a weekend, don’t be conned by the hot tub. you can get a lot more for less in other areas of cumbria. ‘lodge’ it’s a dated plastic house with a nice bath outside. would highly NOT recommend
