Ideal for exploring Hadrians Wall and beyond

Clay, Eadon - 10/06/2025

Herding Hill is a scenic ,friendly quiet site. We visited during the school holidays, I’d imagine it’s livelier when families visit.Toilet and shower block were warm and clean, all other facilities functional and well maintained. It’s not a large site. There is a small petting farm and an off lead dog walking area with lovely views We had cloudy weather so couldn’t take advantage of the dark skies in the area. Haltwhistle close by (5mins drive) with supermarket, cafes, takeaways and several pubs. Lovely town. Hexham is a little further away, well worth visiting. Both towns very dog friendly too. Small pub The Milecastle nearby. . Also Twice Brewed, good food and brewery there.Recommend Bardon Mill too, lovely pottery. Ideal base for exploring some of the best sections of the Wall, forts and surrounding towns and countryside. Pitches are a decent size and screened by hedging from each other. One thing we did find was that the ground was hard to drive pegs into. Need big

My only complaint,is no gate provided at bottom of site to access foitpath into town. This would be of great benefit as saves walking up narrow road to get to start if walk.

Excellent site, great for families and couples!

Mills, Joseph - 06/06/2025

Stayed on a serviced touring pitch which was level and a great size. The facilities were excellent and immaculate.Great facilities for dogs with a hot wash and secure field for exercise.Hadrian’s Wall bus stops at the gate and if you prefer the wall is close enough to walk to.Haltwhistle is only a mile away and has a Co Op and small Sainsburys. The onsite shop is very limited.Great views from the picnic field above the animal enclosures. We would recommend this site!!

Perfect family site

Roxburgh, Emma - 05/06/2025

Fantastic facilities. We loved the animal feeding, playground and pizzas! The staff were lovely and the facilities were excellent. The site is a perfect size so that it didn’t feel too busy and the location is brilliant for exploring Hadrian’s wall. The pitch was level and drained really quickly. We’ll definitely be back.

Herding Hill adventure

Ions, Tamsyn - 04/06/2025

5

We had a fabulous time staying at Herding Hill. My 7 year old daughter attended every feeding and thoroughly enjoyed the responsibility. We spent a day around Hadrian's Wall and an enjoyable evening relaxing in the hot tub before our beautiful meat pack BBQ. Quality food provided, staff were amazing and couldn't do enough to assist, beautifully clean and generally amazing adventure had by the whole family. We will not hesitate to come back, thank you!!

A little gem

Main, Robert - 03/06/2025

We stayed here with our grandchildren (10) and (7). The site itself is nestled in a spectacular landscape. Our granddaughter enthused about the wildflower meadow dog walk and the countryside in general and our grandson drank in the tranquillity of it. They thoroughly enjoyed feeding the animals. The amenities are first-class. The toilets and showers were spotless and the well-equipped family room was an added bonus. On arrival, the staff greeted us warmly and gave us some helpful information about places to visit during our stay. Our grandchildren are already clamouring to make a return visit during the school summer holiday. My wife and I have stayed on lots of sites in the campervan and this is, by far, the best we have been on. The location is scenic, it's not too big but big enough to have great facilities and there's even the wee camp shop with the essentials. All in all, a great site.

Not a site for us unfortunately

Pickering, Linda - 02/06/2025

Herding hill wasn’t the site for us We were pitched opposite the toilet block Very noisy and as we’re a small camper no privacy whatsoever The toilet block/ amenities are good. Shower very hot and plenty of water Good pot washing facilities I think this site is more set up for people using the pods rather than camping One pod very near to us was very noisy music/people partying ( different families) We love the area but will search out a different site which suits us better
