Campsite clean and tidy, could do with another toilet and shower block near camping area. Pub/cafe could do to be made a bit bigger. Was enjoying the camping with my son and family until woman off reception told us to put bbq out, I understand why because of the fires but when you only have that to cook on and have kids she wasn't understanding and an attitude told us to go chip shop if we didn't like it orjust leave not very professional.
Loved it my partner loved the fishing grounds are kept well staff are lovely and friendly hard standing was good but could do with been tarmac as my feet was always mucky also could do with another toilet block closer to hard standing pitches as there is not enough toilets for the campers I was always waiting to use them but other than that beautiful place to stay
So we really enjoyed the site playground was good for kids and not far from ehu tent pitch we was on and the toilets and showers and we found with the kids it was easier for us to all just go into the end one as was more like a family changing rooms/wash room with toilet and we loved how clear the water where we paddled was but definitely recommend wet shoes I had sliders on and walking up and down it I almost lost one a few times with current as u walk more up the river , there a Co-op and Morrisons within walking distance , downfall was not cus of the site and more with weather we couldn’t use our wind breaks as the ground was hard and if we had we would have broke them it was hard enough to hammer the pegs into the ground but other than that the weather was beautiful and we have a fabulous 2 days and one night on site and there is a massive splash park under 10 mins drive with a river and waterfall that u can also swim in but it’s not as clear as the river on site , but we be bk
Facility well kept nice walk in to retford would pick a less busy time for us enjoyed the weekend and will return
Showers and toilets very clean as well as the park, where we fished during the day there was some rubbish which obviously a fisherman had left instead of taking home..Man in the tackle shop was very friendly and helpful. We was a bit disappointed that the cafe was closed.
Absoloutly love the place, cant wait to return.5☆☆☆☆☆ from us.Big shout out to the lady with long blonde hair who works in the cafe, she did an amazing job catering for such a large group of us. She was so welcoming ,friendly and nothing was too much trouble for her.
The fishing pegs are in a terrible state and are dangerous. One of our group who was 70yrs old fell in the moat because the peg was not secured to the scaffolding poles. We checked about and there are quite a few pegs that only have one strap attaching them and they are very unstable. While we were there we noticed the amount of litter that was left at pegs and stuffed in bushes. A lot of the fish that were caught were in poor condition due to hooks being pulled out instead of being removed properly. This is probably due to the matchmen. My mates and myself think that the whole place needs a good overhaul
We had a great time there kids loved fishing, they was very helpful and accommodating as we never booked this site originally it was 1 of there other parks and that 1 was to far to travel from daily to see family.
