Had a couple of days fishing, plenty of choice 6 lakes and hundreds of pegs to pick from even when there is a match on.good head of fish in each lake, well stocked tackle shop including bait, informative staff.Site well laid out, good facilities and really peace full.
This being our second stay at the site. We love it, fishing, peaceful, plenty of lakes to walk around.Unfortunately we didn't complete our stay because of the floods. But the staff and residents where extremely helpful and very kind in giving us free hot drinks and a breakfast butty. We will be awaiting the news when they reopen.
Just want to say our stay was eventful this time at Hall croft. We had bad weather and unforthnately with climate issues the banks of the river idle burst and flooding couldnt be preventedBut with quick response to residents in caravans. We were made aware and moved swiftly to safety. Remarkable people and excellent staff pulled together to help each other .Team work and moral support was exceptional.I hope life will be back to normal very soon at Hallcroft . Your lovely people and it such a lovely place to come and visit. Praying for dry weather so the lakes recede.
Overall a lovely, clean site, staff were excellent and were willing to go out of their way to help if needed. Highly recommended. Thank you all.D Elliott
My sister in law lives in Retford and taking the Motorhome up means we don’t have to impose ourselves on her and it gives the Motorhome a run.On the up the toilet/shower facilities are good as you have a cubicle to yourself although I’m not sure there are enough of them if the site is busy.Otherwise, I twice witnessed owners letting their dogs poo without clearing it up. You really have to like fishing because, if you are on the hard standing, you have the vans and cars going past you from about 7am as fishermen go to their pegs, particularly noticeable on Saturday. The welcome was very curt although I did hear the lady say she wasn’t feeling very well. The icing on the cake was when six of us went for breakfast at 9.30 on the Sunday only to be to told by kitchen staff she wasn’t a cook and was short of supplies and didn’t want to make our breakfast. We ended up walking into Retford for breakfast!
Happy with how the site looks a couple of pot holes around some of the fishing lake could be filled in but overall good staff are very helpful and prepared to move the goalposts to help your stay I was on the tent side and my only concern was the exist at the back of the tent area that leads to Retford iam led to believe you tried to sort it could you not put a turnstile in place thanks Andy
It was our first visit here and wow what a hidden gem!!The staff and residents on site were super friendly and helpful. The site is kept to a very high standard. I loved the showers as you get your own room with shower, toilet and sink, which were very clean.Plenty of walks, not too far from Retford too.We will definitely be returning 😀
Been coming here couple of years now and bever really disappointed, good site, location and fishing. Even better now with new tarmac road, Evan nice play area installed for young ones. Good location for Retford town too. Great cafe and evening bar.toilet/showers could do with bit of a make over but adequate. My only criticism would be that quite a few of the new camping pitches now seasonally rented seem to ' hog. ' fishing pegs, leaving gear overnight to secure for morning, not sure if it's allowed to be honest.
Very friendly staff right from booking. Clean facilities. Good on site cafe. Close to town but feels a million miles away. Felt safe and friendly.
