the site’s accessibility: great location: great staff friendliness: tackle shop guys very helpful and friendly Reception lady very friendly and helpful.Cafe girls: mixed, one lady said that I can’t get a pint because it’s closed and the other lady said no worries it’s okay and you can have a pint…the guy in red ranger car was very very rude to us when checking our fishing licenses.cleanliness : when it’s busy it’s very messy (especially in toilets)facilities: okay amenities : okay safety:nothing happened but it felt like you were only on your own there overall value for money : good Fishing is great but main lake was closed 4 days during our stay because of matches Tip: don’t go there in busy times (very messy and a lot of drinking and looking for a drama folks and lakes are closed due matches) but when quiet it’s a great place to stay!

Fishing and folk fabulous; camping compromised

Jordan, Michelle - 09/04/2024

As a fishing venue - great and staff lovely and helpful. So if camping over is secondary, a good place. For us the campsite and fishing are equal. Not all pitch markers were obviously placed so we got the wrong pitch to begin with (no site plan provided). Our first pitch (in error) overlooked a beautiful fishing lake but then what appeared to be a bonfire/rubbish pile beyond. The second - correct pitch, overlooked static homes. The toilet/shower facilities were at either end of the site nearest the statics that have built in facilities of their own, with the small tourers camp area in the centre so a long way to trot in the night! The roadways to the facilities were full of pot holes - one track amazingly slippery after the extreme wet weather we have had. So, for us, it wasn’t a hit but your view would depend on your priorities. Moved next day to fish and great - had we camped there it would be a totally different review. Rethink where tourers go, site pitch plan, update tracks

Brilliant

This is the 5th time we've stayed. Twice my partners fished, others we've just relaxed or brought our teenage son overnight Gorgeous in the summer. We had night weather last week, rained at night. But got yo sit on a picnic blanket by the pond during the day as the sun was out. Only criticism this stay, the hardstanding near the Reed pond, just needed digging out/relaying of stone. The plots were barely visible. I'm now in a wheelchair so couldn't go out for walks around the ponds like usual but I did notice a few cars DRIVING along the grass by the big pond to avoid the road bumps. Thing is they were still driving as slow so didn't see the point?? But it made the grass turn up. I'd definitely get some signs up saying no driving on the grass. And maybe a few picnic benches and bins at that end. The hardstanding near the toliet block look fantastic though. Not sure if there for more regular customers stay? But they looked fab. Lovely stay as always, friendly staff ❤
