We booked just one night here on a fully serviced super pitch. There was no one working in reception to welcome us. So the guy in the tackle shop gave us instruction to our pitch. The approach to the site is past a recycling centre and an industrial estate so it was busy. Then the speed bumps…vicious and we were only doing 5mph. The location of our pitch was lovely overlooking one of the many lakes until our resident neighbour came home and parked his rusty old van in front of us on the edge of the lake blocking our view. The toilets had been well used and were filthy. There was a lot of fishing going on, lots of water birds and lots of residents clearly living on site. So it had the look of a shanty town. There is no drive over drain/ hard standing/service points for motorhomes. The lodges looked very nice and had separate/better positions on the site. When we left the next morning one of the speed bumps ripped off our waste water pipe and once again we were crawling through the site.
Nice site stopped afew times in campervan, lovely bar staff/cooks very friendly, only negative view is toilets could do with updating but will definitely be returning again, we have booked for the 14th of May for 3 nights
Hi sorry but the first impression was no one about ,we rang the contact number but answer phone message was very poor quality could not understand instruction, went to the tackle shop where a chap showed us the paperwork box, I played the message to him he agreed poor quality, on entering the pitches at 1 pm a travellers caravan was on pitch 2 plugged into pitch 3 the lady said her husband will be back in an hour he arrived back at 4 .45 p.m he moved the caravan and his dog but left the can of dog food and dog muck in situ and moved to the very far end past loos, 3 ovans on 3 4 5 all had small dogs tied up which continued to bark at everything and everyone passing they were also out all night they moved off the pitches on Friday to the farm end of the park again past the loos , positive club house was luvly and very welcoming
First impressions the initial part of the campsite was great; however, the camping area seemed crammed together, and the area was not very clean or tidy. The bathrooms were in a poor state, and the pile of rubbish outside was an eyesore and off-putting. The pile of rubbish clearly visible on the small island was also unsightly. We would have complained but the reception was not open when we arrived or when we left.
We have been coming to your sight for some years, great site near to Retford town centre and lovely surroundings. Was disappointed with the toilet block this visit, starting to look a little run down and there’s not enough toilets/ showers when the sights busy. Could do with another block putting on the back of those.
As I am a keen carp fisherman I love the idea of caravan in the middle of the ponds easy to get to peg and of course being able to park next to your peg ,showers toilets spot on cafe on site great if had one thing to criticise would be not being able to fish moat etc due to competitions but that’s how it is one of my favourite sites always try to get every year
The site is beautiful so relaxing... Shower/toilet blocks so clean.. 1st time experience here and we all absolutely love dnit
Lovely place, all flat, facilities really good, staff great Sheena was so helpful some really nice walks, nature reserve next door, and can walk to Morrisons along the river, Retford town centre really nice, Fab peaceful site, people fishing all day, lovely guests too
Great site. Been quite a few times now . Great fishing lakes and amenities . Showers have greatly improved too . Lovely , laid back and informal atmosphere , not full of rules and regulations like some other sites . Would definitely return .
Lovely location, views amazing, sunrise beautiful. Peaceful and relaxing. Cafe on site, breakfast lovely and hot. Would have been nice to know the opening times as not advertised. Caravan well supplied, towels, kitchen ware etc. Hot tub lovely and very private, though you could hear it at night when going to sleep. Local chip shop excellent. Retford market on a Saturday. Doncaster market on a Sunday. Site clean and tidy.
