Lovely location and quiet area. Ground was a little too hard to get tent pegs in comfortably, which made pitching up a challenge, and toilet block was a little too far away for young children to reach in time, but pleasant stay otherwise and lovely owners.
Very nice campsite, great facilities shop, nice clean toilet and showers, plenty of space for motorhome and tent. Lovely friendly staff. Dog friendly. Pub just outside campsite we didn’t have a meal just drinks. Had a nice stay would stay here again.
Beautiful site, so well kept facilities were excellent and hot hot showers! We had the best time.
Really enjoyed staying here. The site is well kept and the staff are friendly and helpful. The facilities are modern and clean and the showers are especially spacious with loads of hot water. The shop is well stocked with everything you could need too.The onsite woodland is great for a walk with its ancient trees and unspoilt environment for wildlife. We heard Cuckoos and a Woodpecker.Theres some awsome mountain views within a few minutes walk and its only 1.5 miles on foot to Wastwater. The icing on the cake of our trip though was the campsite cat. He appeared on the first night and was super friendly and playfull. Made himself at home on our camp bed and did his bit hunting any insects in the tent. We loved having him around for our visit and he is the reason we will definately return.
Beautifully located campsite with everything you need to spend peaceful moments.
A good location for walking in Nether Wasdale, which is very much the prettier end of Wastwater. Staff were nice and the shop is well stocked, but I was disappointed at the number of dogs, and many of them running free despite the many signs requiring owners to keep dogs on a lead at all times. If you can camp at the top end of the quiet field, it’s a full 300 yards to the only toilet/shower block (but the water is always hot, when you get there).
We really enjoyed our few days at Church Stile. It’s a well kept, clean site with wonderful showers. The farm shop is useful and the weekend cafe also sounds great, although we visited mid-week and missed it. Weekend visitors in 2026 can also use the Wasdale Hopper bus to take them to or from their walk. And the brewery pub up the road does fabulous beer.
Irt Cottage is picture perfect. It's clean, comfortable and perfectly suited for at least three people. Situated next door to the wonderful Sawmill café meant that breakfast was never a problem. It's also within easy walking distance from the village of Nether Wasdale and a welcoming pub. It's by the River Irt so the sound of the water can lull you to sleep. It's immersed in nature and the perfect place for a peaceful stay.
A great friendly site with decent facilities for all types of stays, nice local pub and summer bus to Wasdale Head or the lake/coast for others. We stayed in a motorhome. The only disappointment is that there is nowhere (we have found yet) to empty the grey waste from our m/h which is quite a bit after 3 days. A drive over drain would be a fantastic addition to the site.
A well laid out campsite in a super location, with plenty of space but cleverly designed with hedges and trees between each section which makes it feel cosy and secluded. Staff were friendly and helpful, and facilities were spotlessly clean. Lose a mark for lack of a drive-over grey water drain for motorhomes, but I’m just nit-picking with that one.Numerous footpaths in every direction, with both low level and high fell walking. Wow factor views, and bluebell woods just around the corner. A short stroll from Wastwater.A brewpub five minutes walk away which serves fine ales and tasty meals. All in all a wonderful campsite in a quieter corner of the Lakes.
