Excellent hosts,our idyll.

Great spot for climbing Skafell Pike, however the weekend we arrived the weather was not the best for climbing........but it doesn't rain in the pub! 2 great wee cosy pubs within a 3 min walk and a nice onsite shop with everything you need. The food in the smokehouse/Screes Inn and Strands Hotel was fantastic and both were so welcoming. Highly recommend!! It is very dark at night though so bring a couple of head torches, on a cloudless night the sky is spectacular,

Beautiful park set in stunning surroundings.A little more expensive than we usually pay but we had a fantastic timre.Toilets and showers very good and immaculately clean at all times.Staff were very friendly and helpful.A few minutes walk from the Strands hotel/screes inn.which were both fabulous(typical old style lake district inns..)Bought our motorhome in May and this was our 11th trip away and tbh it was probably the best overall.Will definately be back.

Such a great spot in the heart of the village with 2 fabulous pubs, a good farm shop and cafe and such friendly people. The staff at the site were helpful. The facilities were spotless.Some good walks. Wast Water is beautiful.

Pretty village with excellent pubs next to the campsite. The Sawmill is a pleasant cafe and shop well worth a visit. Walking from the site is limited and we found three days ample. As a base, if you have transport, it would be fine. The site itself was very friendly, tidy and clean.

We loved our stay here - at check in the staff were super friendly and helpful. Our pitch was perfect with the herdies walking through shortly after arrival (great timing!) facilities plentiful, spacious and super clean. A great coffee from the shop. Location wise this has been one of our favourite spots - so close to big hills but also a very short walk to excellent pubs. What’s not to like!
