This idyllic retreat is more than just a destination; it's a haven for those seeking a perfect blend of nature, comfort, and adventure. At Church Stile, the team pride themselves on creating a family-friendly environment that caters to all, providing an array of accommodation options, including camping, glamping, and self-catering holidays.
Surrounded by the stunning landscapes of Wasdale, arguably Cumbria’s most majestic valley, Church Stile Farm offers a unique opportunity for visitors and guests to reconnect with nature while enjoying the modern comforts and conveniences that make for an unforgettable getaway.
The diverse options for stays include camping pitches, electric hook-ups, hardstanding pitches for motorhomes and campervans, static caravans to rent, and glamping in one of Church Stile's traditional Shepherd’s Huts that combine luxury camping with an age-old custom.
With stunning views to the Screes mountain range, the Church Stile site covers about 7 acres in total and provides a large level camping ground for pitches for up to 85 tents.
Shepherd’s Huts reflect the style of a 19th century Victorian hut. They provide a wonderful alternative to camping in a tent. Romantic and cosy, Shepherd’s Huts are the perfect place to snuggle up after a day enjoying the fresh Cumbrian air.
Church Stile's Holiday Caravans are accessible for weekly rental or brief getaways at rates tailored to suit all budgets. Guests are invited to immerse themselves in the familiar comforts of a home away from home within the fully equipped caravans, situated in one of the nation's most picturesque regions.
Church Stile Farm & Holiday Park is fully equipped with all the modern amenities you expect to find at a stylish camping ground. Including a children's play area with swings and climbing frames, picnic tables, washroom facilities.
The onsite reception building is home to a little farm shop that is stocked with everyday essentials such as bread, baked beans, local milk and eggs. It also stocks the items that guests may have forgotten such as tin openers, toothbrushes and tent pegs. There is a small range of camping gear also available including walking poles, camping gas, chairs, socks, etc.
We also stock some local produce such as Unsworth pies, Appleby Creamery cheeses; Woodall's bacon and sausages; not to mention Mawson's ice cream which is a well deserved treat after a long walk on the fells.
The shop serves tea & coffee, homemade cakes and takes orders for packed lunches. There is outdoor covered seating provided with WiFi available.
Wasdale boasts England's deepest lake, highest mountain, and smallest church and yet, the beautiful beaches along Cumbria's coastline are just a short distance away. Whether you seek the serenity of this untouched valley or want to explore various activities such as walking, climbing, cycling, and kayaking, or visit the numerous attractions in West Cumbria, Church Stile is the ideal destination for you.

The top three things I need in a campsite is a level pitch, good bathroom and an on site shop with the essentials (beer and ice cream!). These were all fulfilled at Chapel Stile. The bonuses include pub with brewery opposite campsite, free weekend curtesy bus to and from Wasdale Head or Ravenglass (Summer 2023 & 2024), walking routes from the site.On top of that the site was clean and tidy and the staff helpful.
Very welcoming and chilled site in Nether Wasdale village. Mainly tents , a few Motorhomes and static caravans but no touring caravans on site. Pitches are level and facilities are good. There’s a small shop at reception and nice pub with meals in the village. The shuttle to Wasdale Head running for summer weekends is very handy. I couldn’t find a drive over waste water point for my van, which was a minor inconvenience. There’s no lighting on site ( a good thing in this precious landscape) so remember to bring a torch. Strongly recommended!
Good hard standing pitch with great views.Unfortunately the hot water wasn’t working while we were there.
Church Stile is an excellent campsite, the toilets and showers are so clean. Washing up facilities and drying/washing room are also good. The staff are friendly and responsive. They responded very quickly when there was an issue with the water supply and this was resolved. My friends and I liked the quietness of the site but loved that you could walk to the pub for a beer and a meal. Set in a beautiful place close to good dipping spots. Thank you
Very well located and friendly site, staff were very helpful during the booking in process with clear instructions. Very good and clean facilities. This is our second time on the site and we will be back again when the weather is warmer
Booked this site for the wonderful views of the Wasdale fells, however, we were pitched on the worst pitch on the campsite.. had no view other than looking at and smelling the bins opposite. The pitch was boggy and muddy. When we looked around the site there were much nicer fields and pitches with full views of the fells. We actually paid more money for a "larger pitch" and were put on the swamp next to the bins. The owner and wife extremely unfriendly and miserable and when asked for help regarding the hot water in the showers which went off constantly during our 3 night stay (only managed 1 hot shower a day) we were met with passive aggressive answers such as.."I can't fix it, I am not an electrician" Myself and husband were sat in porch area of our tent at 19.50 listening to low audible chill out zen music on my phone (I had forgot to bring my speaker) we were told to turn music down due to high hats it might offend other campers!! Would love to go on but no more chara
Thanks for your review of our site. We would like to address some of the issues you have raised. We did have issues with our boiler on the Saturday of your stay. Our staff did what they could to rectify the issue, however, they are in no way qualified in the replacement of a boiler or the replacement of faulty electrical items. They did however spend a considerable time visiting the shower block to check both the water temperature and also the water pump to make sure they are reasonable and also working.Your description of your pitch is also slightly confusing. For you to see the bins on our site, you would have to look through a large, dense hedgerow and also through a tall wooden fence, that surrounds the bin area.We only ask people to turn anything down in volume if we received complaints or if the sound is audible from the surrounding area. In this instance, your music was too loud for our site.In terms of the pitch you were given, we do what we can to accomodate people with their issues, but we can't do this retrospectively.
The location is really good especially for people who are planning to visit the Scafell Pike or the lake! There is a free shuttle service in summer from the campsite which is really advantageous to avoid crowded parking during peak times. Nice pub just outside the campsite.Things to improve: More toilets and showers will be needed as there are only 4 toilets and 4 showers for men.
Perfectly positioned to explore this part of the Lake District
Good fun and plenty of open space.
Location great for walking scafell pike pubs with in a very very short walk, can book pizza from the site for the evening and a very unusual but nice spaghetti sandwich try it you will enjoy and it should be something we all know about elsewhere. Staff are friendly and helpful. Shower blocks are a bit manky more cleaning and a bit of chlorine wouldn't go a miss, drying roo. Absolutely sticks of walking boots drying out it is nasty not going to lie get some odour neutralising in there it will go along way given that's the samenrokm.the freezer for ice blocks is located
