Situated in the heart of Wasdale, arguably Cumbria’s most majestic valley, Church Stile Holiday Park and Campsite offers visitors the most spectacular location from which to explore and enjoy the Lake District.
We offer a diverse range of family friendly options for your stay including camping pitches, electric hook-ups, hardstanding pitches for motorhomes and campervans, static caravans to rent, static caravans to buy, or why not try ‘glamping’ and stay in one of our traditional Shepherd’s Huts combining luxury camping with an age-old custom.
Nestling in an idyllic oak woodland setting on a traditional Lakeland sheep farm, the area is a haven for wildlife with stunning views to the mountains. Yet the pretty village of Nether Wasdale with its 2 wonderful country inns serving hearty meals and fine ales, is only a two minute stroll away.
Wasdale is home to England’s deepest lake, highest mountain and smallest church and yet the wonderful beaches on Cumbria’s coastline are only a few miles distant. Whether you wish to simply enjoy the peace and tranquillity of this unspoilt valley or take advantage of the many opportunities for walking, climbing, cycling and kayaking or visit some of West Cumbria’s many attractions, Church Stile is your perfect location.

A superbly located site (for Wasdale and the west coast) with great facilities and good layout. Beautiful setting - and hearing a cuckoo was added benefit. Dog very welcome. The only gripe was the locking mechanism/code for the toilet block - a bit of a hassle in the dark. The other was the locality - one of the pubs was closed and the other rammed meant we couldnt get dinner that night! Fortunately the shop is well stocked and our campsite neighbours had more food than they needed and we sat and ate with them!!!
Stayed in a static caravan for four nights. Caravan was clean and well equipped. Ideal location for exploring Wasdale and the high fells, Scafell, Great Gable etc. Within walking distance of Wastwater , which is a stunning place to swim. The park was quiet and well maintained, would definitely stay again.
I was only there for a couple of nights, as I was doing music for the Strands Inn beer fest weekend. I struggled a bit to find my way back to the tent late on Saturday night, but to be fair, that was more about the beer and my memory than the campsite layout. The most annoying aspect, again no fault of the site, was forgetting to take the WC code with me when I needed to and so had to resort to asking other users for it as they left ! 😆
A fabulous site, had everything you could need. Great base for walking round Wast Water.
Hard to please - I'm looking for a site from which there are multiple walking & cycling options without having to drive; a very short walk from a good pub (real ale & dining out); away from the crowds; life support (electric hook-up, toilets, showers, drinking water, washing up, Elsan point, recycling, etc.) with lots of hot water.Church Stile offers the lot, plus stunning views, a real wow-factor location.
Pricing - pay for tent, then occupants, then car and dog. Who pays for a tent with no occupancy?!Great location. Great on site shop.Only thing we thought was, why is the toilet/shower block near reception and the residential caravans who have their own facilities? We were 3 fields away, a long trek to go to the toilet in the middle of the night.
Highly recommended. The caravan was comfortable and very well laid out, with adequate equipment and lots of storage space. The site was beautiful, with hedges around small groups of tents/caravans so it did not feel crowded, and lovely views of the hills. The site is a short drive from the start of walks from the head of Wasdale, and there are pretty low altitude walks straight from the site. There is a well stocked shop and staff are very helpful and friendly
The campsite is very nice, but above all the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff especially when I had a problem with my tent, and suggesting local hikes was second to none.
All I can say is WOW, what a beautiful site, staff were so lovely and friendly, amenities were clean and tidy, the shop stocked everything we needed for the 3 days we were there, the peace and quiet and views were second to non, one of the most beautiful settings I've ever Been too. No phone signal coverage (which I must admit to my shame worried me) but after the first few hours i was actually glad there wasnt as i could switch off to everything and appreciate the beauty and peace that surrounded me. There is access to wifi at the shop just to check all was ok at home. I really didn't want to leave as it gave me the peace and mindset i truly needed. Thank you so much and i will most definitely be coming back again.
