This idyllic retreat is more than just a destination; it's a haven for those seeking a perfect blend of nature, comfort, and adventure. At Church Stile, the team pride themselves on creating a family-friendly environment that caters to all, providing an array of accommodation options, including camping, glamping, and self-catering holidays.
Surrounded by the stunning landscapes of Wasdale, arguably Cumbria’s most majestic valley, Church Stile Farm offers a unique opportunity for visitors and guests to reconnect with nature while enjoying the modern comforts and conveniences that make for an unforgettable getaway.
The diverse options for stays include camping pitches, electric hook-ups, hardstanding pitches for motorhomes and campervans, static caravans to rent, and glamping in one of Church Stile's traditional Shepherd’s Huts that combine luxury camping with an age-old custom.
With stunning views to the Screes mountain range, the Church Stile site covers about 7 acres in total and provides a large level camping ground for pitches for up to 85 tents.
Shepherd’s Huts reflect the style of a 19th century Victorian hut. They provide a wonderful alternative to camping in a tent. Romantic and cosy, Shepherd’s Huts are the perfect place to snuggle up after a day enjoying the fresh Cumbrian air.
Church Stile's Holiday Caravans are accessible for weekly rental or brief getaways at rates tailored to suit all budgets. Guests are invited to immerse themselves in the familiar comforts of a home away from home within the fully equipped caravans, situated in one of the nation's most picturesque regions.
Church Stile Farm & Holiday Park is fully equipped with all the modern amenities you expect to find at a stylish camping ground. Including a children's play area with swings and climbing frames, picnic tables, washroom facilities.
The onsite reception building is home to a little farm shop that is stocked with everyday essentials such as bread, baked beans, local milk and eggs. It also stocks the items that guests may have forgotten such as tin openers, toothbrushes and tent pegs. There is a small range of camping gear also available including walking poles, camping gas, chairs, socks, etc.
We also stock some local produce such as Unsworth pies, Appleby Creamery cheeses; Woodall's bacon and sausages; not to mention Mawson's ice cream which is a well deserved treat after a long walk on the fells.
The shop serves tea & coffee, homemade cakes and takes orders for packed lunches. There is outdoor covered seating provided with WiFi available.
Wasdale boasts England's deepest lake, highest mountain, and smallest church and yet, the beautiful beaches along Cumbria's coastline are just a short distance away. Whether you seek the serenity of this untouched valley or want to explore various activities such as walking, climbing, cycling, and kayaking, or visit the numerous attractions in West Cumbria, Church Stile is the ideal destination for you.

We really enjoyed our week. The site is lovely, friendly, clean and staff are all very helpful. If we could say anything bad it would be we simply wished the wash up/toilets were a bit closer but totally not a deal breaker for us. We enjoyed the pizza night in the Saturday, football field, and the resident sheep and cat! Would recommend and we will definitely be back 🙂
Churchstile has everything and more! The beautiful location in Nether Wasdale, beautiful views and peaceful woodlands surrounding the site. We were very lucky had great weather and the perfect pitch for us. We decided on an electric pitch which was so handy, the area we were in was very quiet and not overly crowed with tents. Everyone had their own space so plenty of room. My daughter loved the playpark and enjoyed watching the little sheep wandering round the site as well as bat spotting at night. Added extras such as the pizza van, rental fire pitts and having onsite laundry was fab. All the staff were very nice and helpful the onsite shop sells everything you might need. Couldn't fault the toilets and showers all cleaned regularly. We also enjoyed going to the 2 pubs just outside the site, and we ate at the Sawmill cafe twice which was very nice. We loved it and can't wait to come back!
Very convenient location for walks in the area. Very pleasant, well laid out and clean campsite. Lovely views. Good value for money. Local pub (the Strands) is a short walk away and serves excellent food and beer. When we arrived the pitch that we had been provided was not really appropriate for a camper and tent/awning. However, the hosts quickly addressed this and we agreed a much better pitch location with minimal fuss.In the interests of providing constructive feedback I would say the following:The campsite advertises offering food from a food truck between 6pm and 9pm. In our experience they ran out of food or ingredients long before 9pm. Recommended that guests either order early or have plan B in place; As has to be expected when visiting the lakes, we got drenched on our first day of walking, the campsites drying facilities are not up to the job. There is one dryer on site, which is not enough to service all the campers. This dryer was not effective at drying the clothes
The perfect camp site for families and access to Wast Water and Wasdale Head. Facilities always clean and staff friendly. Great on site shop serving delicious ice cream and a great pub in the village. You can’t ask for anything more!
We really enjoyed our time here, our children could roam free and safely , the site was clean and had everything you could want. The on site shop was great and sells bbq meats, pastries. Fresh coffees, gifts and you can hire fire pits etc. great experience and will be back
A clear booking system, a friendly welcome, sparkling shower / toilet blocks and a brilliant location. Food and beer at The Strands pub opposite was an added bonus, too.
Staff extremely welcoming and helpful.Views are incredible and each pitch had lots of room.A brilliant children’s play area and located close to lots of places to visit in all directions. A paper cup of coffee at £4.20 and bag of ice at £4.00 - unnecessarily highly priced.Shower facilities very good, but only three toilets in the gents, often there were queues to use them. Great location, we had a really good time and the children felt safe throughout the site.
The campsite is spotlessly clean and well laid out. It is much bigger than we initially expected but it was not overly busy despite being in the summer holidays. There are numerous fields for camping and an area for static caravans, plus a small play area for smaller kids. For larger kids there is a dedicated field for ball games and a huge woodland to explore. It is a very friendly site and we were happy to let our kids go explore and play with other children. The staff on site are very friendly and welcoming. The onsite shop is well stocked with food, camping stuff, alcohol, medications i.e. Calpol, hot sandwiches in the morning, ice cream and toys and games. It is not cheap however so come prepared. The local pub (Strands inn) has a great beer garden out back and the food and beer are top quality, all home made/ brewed. (Again not particularly cheap though) The pie is incredible. The pub opposite, The Screes inn is only open at weekends. All in all, an excellent camps
Keep up the good work .A lovely place, friendly staff, great facilities
I love this campsite. Firstly it’s in an excellent place. It’s peaceful with lovely views of the fells. It’s clean in the toilet and shower blocks and there is a never a queue. The shop is excellent. The local pub lovely and friendly. The Sawmill cafe is superb. All in all my fav place.
