Brilliant site. Only problem being is could do with signage on doors with I e signs for women or men facilities
Really lovely grounds with a fantastic pub and great facilities.
I stayed here in my camper van over the bank holiday weekend and it is well run and very clean .. the showers and toilet block was very clean and well maintained.. I would highly recommend this site to anyone !!
We love the site, it's great for the kids, and plenty of walking available. Local to plenty of mountain biking places. And the Lairds in pub/restaurant is definitely a positive. There's no enclosed dog run area but as it's winter we used the camping field which was perfect. Mossyard beach, 100% worth a visit. The new area (old camping field) the pitches are small and tight. Luckily it was winter and there was no other vans about. Pitches definitely need you to unhook and use a caravan mover. The shower block up at that side is really good, warm, clean enough, and plenty all with toilet and shower in the one cubicle which is amazing. But OMG the showers are scorching warm. My 2 small kids couldn't shower in them. An adult can jump in and out fine to shower but for a kid they weren't suitable. The indoor pool was advertised as closed on the website, but we found out from another resident it was actually open which was disappointing for the kids.Apart from that it was our 3rd
The site is well kept. Pitches are a good size with water and drainage , although the one we were on had an overhanging / overgrown tree on it which meant it was difficult to park the car next to the awning. The toilet/shower facilities are spotless and warm, plenty of hot water. The only thing was the shower trays are very slippery and you could quite easily fall. A non slip tray or mat would be much better. All the staff we spoke to were very friendly. Nice walks round the site. 20 mins drive to the town of Newton Stewart. A lovely friendly pub on-site.
This is our second visit to Castle Cary and we will definitely return. This time, we spent New Year on site and had a fantastic time at the Lairds Inn with food and karaoke. It is a fantastic stop over for a few days before travelling further into the Highlands.
Booked a weekend here in December and think we were the only tourer in the park! Staff provided our pitch number up front allowing us to head straight there. Much appreciated! Pitch near enough to the shower block but not right next to it. We didn't use the shop or pub but enjoyed wet windy walks round about with the dogs. Love this site and am looking forward to going back soon.
We had a wet, but happy stay here last weekend. Booked at last minute direct through site. Got a superior pitch sited well away from main section which suited us, having 2 dogs that kept escaping out the awning. Well sized pitches, toilet/shower block was immaculate. Snack bar food was decent and well priced. They delivered our food to our pitch. Indoor pool was a fair size and warm. Lights in showers didn't work.We had looked forward to trying the pub/restaurant on site but unfortunately it was closed for 2 weeks. Might have been nice to know this before we booked hut it wouldn't have changed our decision to book. Will definitely come back and we are considering a year long pitch
Absolutely loved staying here all the facilities were outstanding and the little pub next to the castle was cozy and friendly I’d highly recommend staying if your passing through
Quiet night, out of season in a lovely site. Toilets and showers are clean, hot and plentiful. Great location and good base for exploring the area. We wished the restaurant had been open as have heard good things about it. Electric hook ups no issues and very dog friendly. We’ll definitely be back
