I found it difficult to get the caravan onto the pitch with a narrow entrance and slopes. The terracing was necessary for a level pitch but it made it difficult - without a motor mover I would have been in real trouble. There we a lot of seasonal pitches most not being used in the week, making it very quiet but the weekends were busy and noise continued after midnight. Staff were really lovely and location good. There were only 2 showers and not particularly hot and could do with renovation. Enjoyed my few days but unlikely to return - I prefer adult only sites.
Have stayed at CASTLEBRAKE on several occasions for one night when visiting Toy Fairs at Westpoint. A lovely spacious site set in beautiful countryside , very friendly bar / restaurant service good quality food .
Found the site on Pitchup, did some research about the site and booked. I read mainly positive reviews, the only two negatives being the toilet facilities by the camping section were ‘old and dirty’ and the pool ‘old and unkept’. I really want to know where these people were staying because the facilities were amazing, cleaned twice a day. The pool was a GEM, so nice to come home after a day out or chilling in the sun to cool down and have a swim. The Lodge grill was great, food was lovely, we had 4 meals, 4 drinks its cost us £50. The playground was great too! Nice for my little boy to burn off some energy before we headed off back to our tent for bed. The washing facilities are brilliant, all kept clean. Overall the cleanliness of this site is brilliant. The pitch size we had the XL was massive, we have a huge tent and we still parked 2 cars and had so much room for our son to play.
This was our first time out in our 'new to us' caravan. Perfect hardstanding pitch for a beginner, good facilities. Perfect location. Highly recommended
We loved our two night stay at the park. My only critique, if anything, is that the little toilet block by our pitch never had any soap and wasn't as clean as the bigger block.
The site was quite crowded on the weekend with tents across the road from us seeming closer than the van next door. Parking on the serviced pitches is not clearly marked enough (at least for some people) resulting in cars parked on the wrong pitches. Had to spend 10 minutes before pitching the awning clearing the area of cigarette ends, which I know isn't the site owners fault but still...If you like sites with a pool and clubhouse and/or are used to busy holiday sites this will probably suit you fine, just as an older couple not our cup of tea so wouldn't go back.
We had a lovely two night stay at Bucklegrove, the staff were very accommodating and helpful. The showers were hot and clean, although the soap needs a refill. The take away service was excellent, but the Margarita pizza was topped with a lot of cheese but then we were in Cheddar!
We needed a place to stay over the weekend to visit Cheddar Gorge and meet with family.Didn't use the facilities, (swimming pool, Children's play area), but did have a drink in the clubhouse on friday evening. We were going to order food but missed the 20:15 cut off by 10 mins. The park is work in progress I would say, looks lovely in places, and tired in others. The track needs re surfacing desperately with large potholes, not ideal with a narrow track and towing a caravan. Our pitch 107, we paid for hardstanding and electric for a car and caravan. We arrived and it was a good job we hadn't taken ownership of our new caravan. The plot was barely big enough for our small 2 berth caravan! The plot was smaller than both neighbouring plots by a tree being in the way and extremely narrow compared to a few hard standing pitches we saw!We did manage to fit, just. I didnt give dimensions of the caravan when booking so was rather fortunate as they didn't have any spare spaces on site!! We had travelled 2.5 hours and would not have been impressed with that journey back home again at 7.30pm!We were going to put an awning up, but if we did, we had no where to put the car?!My family arrived in a Motorhome and said the same. They managed to get their awning up, but no room for a car that they normally tow.The site has an external car park but with no security. For its location I will say I would return, but for the price paid, I expect larger plots to fit a caravan, car and awning not an offer of an unsecured car park.Hope to see the changes in the future before I return.
Loved the stay, we wanted a quick getaway for the kids and we had a great weekend. Very family friendly
