We stopped over for one night on our way to the NEC the following day. It was late afternoon when we arrived and to be honest the pitches didn't inspire much confidence due in part to the recent persistent rainfall over the last month or so, with grassy areas so churned up and waterlogged. The lakes are good with plenty of wildfowl to be seen. The areas where the lodges are look well planned and have better access than the touring pitches. The Reception Office and shop is well stocked and staff helpful. There is plenty to see & do locally with the Heritage Battlefield Railway and Battle museum nearby. Drove through Bosworth on the way and looks worth a longer exploration. We'll have to return when the weather is better.
We stayed Friday and sat night late Jan and loved it. The site is easily accessible and close to lots of attractions. We went to the battle of bosworth which is 5 mins away. The site its self is beautiful with great amenities, lovely walks and best of all the lake with lots of ducks. We had the lakeside pitch in gravel which was amazing value for money. Can’t wait to go again.
When finally arrived, we had to call site person, as we didn’t have to code, to get in . Then their were no sign to tell you where to go, we turned left . Saw reception. Hoping someone could help us . But no, it was all locked up. Their was no number on door , so couldn’t ring any one. ( hopeless) . So went round the roundabout, passed the entrance, drove around the lodges, thinking someone could be around their to help us, but no, the place looked deserted. I ended up ringing Raymond James to check we had , got the right place, and to get advice. We were in right place. So, with help from them, we finally found, were we had to pitch up . Then more problems with out motor home . So all in all we were very disappointed with this campsite. The men’s toilet s were not very clean. The ladies were freezing cold, in side building, no hot water. I no it’s winter time but , the service should be open , if the premises is open?.
Stayed for 4 nights between Christmas and New year on the touring area, we had front pitch overlooking the lake, wonderful views . Met the local ducks, wife enjoyed feeding them. Site is well looked after and all facilities were clean, good access on to pitch and site very secure. Easy access to local towns Tamworth, Nuneaton. Will definitely stay here again in summer and will be booking for Christmas time again.
A last minute decision brought us to Lakeside Lodges, only securing the last EHU pitch the day before arriving on New Years Eve. A compact campsite with adequate facilities eg. Toilet/shower block, Elsan etc. some pitches are adjacent to the lake with a nice views, others further back and not such a good outlook. Paul, who I dealt with on the phone and in reception on arrival was first class! Friendly and accommodating, allowing us to “pay as we stayed” as we were unsure of the duration of our stay. Location wise it suited us fine, however the half hour uphill trek to the village of Market Bosworth was no problem for us, for less energetic types it may be an issue. The village itself is quite charming if small. A decent Co-op store, a couple of pubs and cafes is about it. Do try the cafe (number 3?) two doors along from the Co-op, superb food!Highlight for us was the day out on the steam train of the Battlefield Line. Good value for an all day ticket and a walk around the battlefie
Found site really clean and tidy only setback were showers were not very warm on 3 times we went to use them may need updating
I took my 3 year old grandson for a night in our camper and he had a fantastic time. He especially loved the huge fish in the lake that came quite close to us and the great little playground. It was a shame I decided to go in October because by the time I got there nothing was open other than the toilets and shower. All this means that I will have to come back in the better weather.
Easy to get to reception, very welcoming and friendly staff excellent service, nice & level ground Easy to walk round, toilets and showers good, nice washing up area,Lovely view overlooking the lake, nice to see a warden on site if needed who was very friendly,Small shop and plenty to do on site on the lake fishing, boating and a sand pit, beach area and crazy golf a lovely play area for children. surrounding area there is Twycross Zoo 10 minutes away,Bosworth Battlefield 10 minutes,Thornton reservoir 20 minutes,Conkers/Moira Furnace Museum Country Park 25 minutes away,Appleby inn Restaurant 15 minutes and delicious food, quite a lot of places to visit for food and drinks,Tamworth,Hinckley and Leicester with in 30 minutes drive so plenty to do on site and the surrounding area,Lovely and quiet holiday park so will be definitely br returning.👍
Our first visit here but not our last. Easy access off a main road onto a wide tarmacked drive to reception. Chap in reception was really welcoming as was the warden. We had a lovely lakeside view pitch which was plenty big enough for our twin axle, an awning and car side by side. We also took advantage of a late 4pm checkout for just £5 more.I would have given 5 stars but although the toilet / shower blocks are clean and functional they could do with modernising. Only 1 of the 3 gents showers stays on for a short while when you press the button, the other 2 need a hand on them constantly to work. It's a bit annoying but it wouldn't stop me returning.Walks-We walked into Market Bosworth by taking a left out of the site along a quiet single road, down onto the towpath at bridge no 40, up bridge no 42 and up the busy main road into town. You can also stroll around the lake if you just want a 10minute leg stretch.
Friendly welcome, staff friendly and helpful. Showers/toilets nice and clean. Can definitely recommend this site and will visit again.
