Very good and spacious site. My only criticism was the litter left on site, that all of the areas near the stream had been used as kids play areas and were trampled and that there weren't enough toilets and showers for such a busy campsite.
This was our first ever camping experience. We had a very lovely time. We particularly enjoyed the stream for paddling and we were blessed with nice weather. We did not enjoy the wild parties and cannabis smell in our tent. Thankfully we managed to tuck ourselves into the corner so we were mostly out of the way. The bouncy castle was a lovely addition and the milkshake machine (when milk was available). The only niggle was the lack of soap overnight for one of our nights. We did appreciate the warm showers and the facilities were a lot cleaner than I might have expected so overall we were quite impressed.
Avoid if you have small children - or just want some sleep. Perfect for a stag/hen vibe.Avoid if you like clean toilets/showers.Perfect if you like to play loud music all night.Absolutely stunning location.
We have been coming to abbey farm for years and always have an amazing time. Feels rural but still a short distance to local amenities including supermarkets & pubs. The food available in the bistro is lovely which is a bonus & the kids love playing in the stream.
We booked for three nights but left after one - this was essentially down to a medical emergency but we would have left anyway. I explained the reason for our departure at Reception (my husband is recovering from oesophageal cancer and needed unforeseen medical treatment). When I asked if we could have some kind of reimbursement for the two unused nights I was told the owners would contact me. They didn't. We left and I then emailed Abbey Farm to explain and asked the same question. No reply. A couple of days later, I tried ringing but nobody picked up on the two occasions I tried. If I had have been given a reply or an to opportunity to speak to someone, then I would not be leaving a review. But I now feel I must.So many negatives but to be sited next to a raft of overflowing bins was unsightly and noisy. Showers were not clean. Portacabin loos - awful. If you are determined to go there, avoid pitch AH9 - it's also next to a busy campsite thoroughfare - more noise and very dusty.
I’m still waiting a response on my email that I sent on the 30th May! I would never stay here again nor would I recommend it to anyone! The place is a free for all- drunken adults being loud untill stupid o’clock in the morning, the last time j looked at the clock was 2.45am! kids running around screaming at silly o’clock! The site owners/workers don’t enforce their own rules of noise levels after 10.30pm!Went to reception in the morning to raise our concerns and try get a refund for the 2nd nights stay as we weren’t prepared to go through what we went through the first night, to be told there was no phone calls made to the warden to raise our concerns, I rang the warden after 11pm and was told they were patrolling, the noise continued untill the early hours! I’ve emailed the site to request a refund for the second nights stay but they still haven’t replied!! I should have read tripadvisor reviews before booking this place because it seems this is a big issue on this site!
We stayed in a pod which was as expected from the pictures (though perhaps a bit smaller) but perfectly adequate for our needs. Also the pod area was quiet. The campsite was very, very full as it was a gorgeous Bank Holiday weekend, but we never had to wait to use the facilities - possibly because we were up early.
Really enjoyed abbey farm campsite, well organised and lovely pitches, facilities up to standard and a good shop: ice cream vending machine was a good feature in hot weather! Would recommend
Great campsite. Well appointed, good location, spacious.
Really lovely campsite with all the amenities and close proximity to Llangollen and other beautiful places to visit ie horseshoe falls and the pass.
