Lovely campsite, set in Beautiful surroundings, chilled camp.Lovely staff. One of my Fave campsites.
Noisy site however great walk to Llangollen and fabulous food at the Bistro. Would benefit from upgraded loo/shower facilities and more regular cleaning....not the cleanest facilities!
Great little break away before kids back to school, every member of staff a met were friendly and helpful, good bistro bar bouncing castle for kids, pod brilliant, definitely going to book again. Easy access close to Llangollen but plenty to get on with on site. Kids iPads and phones didn’t even get used till bed time, they played and explored.
The toilets were porta loos and in bad state of repair and rarely cleaned doors didn't lock etc. The bin area, very close to our pitch, one side of it had collapsed and there was rubbish everywhere. There are group bookings allowed of tents which were very noisy next to caravans. Right opposite our pitch was a rope swing which was a magnet to all the kids. This site will suit some people but not us we booked for 3 nights but didn't stay the 3rd and left last Sunday. The abbey bistro itself which was the reason we booked was lovely the staff were excellent and the food was lovely. We are currently on a family site on Anglesey and it's worlds apart for the same price.
Wish we had deep dived reviews of this site before booking. It is not as advertised.Toilet facilities are inadequate for number of users, and dis functional. For example the urinals leek across the floor. Half toilet units were “closed” and looked like they had been for a while. The site is run down, with a shocking amount of litter. We had booked a pod for a three night stay, hoping to enjoy the atmosphere of the chapel & beautiful Welsh hills.Instead we left after one night.Despite the site having a policy regarding “groups”, we found ourselves the only pod not in the group. Loud music & drinking from before 9am till late in night. Uncontrolled children and dogs, foul language, drug taking and breaking into the chapel. The “warden” did pay a visit but the “group” turned off music + disbanded prior to his arrival (diesel gator announcing his arrival…).This behaviour escalated, with one having an emotional conversation on loud speaker at 2pm.We left, with a poor view of t
Great pitch, toilets were clean, the bistro food was amazing, only thing was we were next to some inconsiderate people which ruined it for us a little bit and the abbey itself wasn’t open which was disappointing but the site itself was amazing. Already recommended it to family who have booked their own stay this weekend. Will definitely come back with the children again over the half term breaks.
There was no hot water in the cold shower. I encountered locals who were aggressive and unfriendly when they lit their lights. Other than that, everything was fine. There were beautiful starry skies, beautiful shooting stars, comfortable and vast grassland, and the weather was very good and beautiful. Holidays, thank you.
Fantastic site have stayed here a few times and will be returning
Great campsite, easy to find great location helpful staff, however the toilet/shower facilities could do with some tlc especially on the camping field had to use the other showers by reception as the ones on the campsite where not very nice,
What a stunning place to get away to. Picturesque at every angle, would highly recommend and will be sure to return.
