Ayrshire camping sites are a great base for exploring the sights of Troon, Largs, and Kilmarnock. Ayr is definitely worth a visit as a busy old seaside town overlooking the Firth of Clyde. It is famously known as the birthplace of Robbie Burns, a renowned 18th national poet still remembered each year on Burns Night (15 January). Visit the Burns Museum in Galloway and walk across the pretty 13th century bridge or dine in the Tam O’Shanter Inn which featured in Burns’ poetry.
