Woodland Caravan Park is a serene getaway nestled in 10 acres of natural woodland within the Snelston Hall Estate. Catering exclusively to adults aged 18 and above, this park provides a peaceful retreat for discerning guests seeking a quiet and relaxing holiday amidst nature's embrace.
As the name suggests, the park offers a woodland setting where all pitches are strategically placed among the trees. While this guarantees a tranquil atmosphere, it also means that pitches may not be bathed in sunlight throughout the day, adding to the rustic charm of the experience.
Conveniently located just 2 miles south of the picturesque market town of Ashbourne, Woodland Caravan Park is within easy reach of numerous cultural and outdoor activities. Proximity to the stunning Peak District makes this park an ideal base for walkers, cyclists, and nature enthusiasts, offering convenient access to the area's natural beauty and attractions.
Accommodating a total of 50 well-placed hard standing pitches suitable for touring caravans, motorhomes, and trailer tents/folding campers, this park ensures a comfortable and enjoyable stay amidst the woodland ambiance.
** Unfortunately, tents are not accepted. **
Facilities at Woodland Caravan Park are designed to enhance guest’s holiday experience. Modern heated toilet and shower facilities are meticulously maintained for cleanliness, with free showers, hairdryers in the ladies' washroom, and electric shaver points in the gent's washroom provided for convenience. Additionally, a modern accessible disabled toilet and shower room cater to guests with specific needs.
Laundry facilities include a washing machine and tumble dryer (charges apply), along with an iron and ironing board for added convenience. Guests can also utilise a microwave oven and enjoy a book exchange service during their stay. For outdoor enthusiasts, a secure one-acre dog exercise area is provided, complete with shaded spots, ensuring a comfortable and safe environment for your four-legged friends.
One of the highlights of staying at this park is the opportunity to connect with nature and observe diverse wildlife. From squirrels and pheasants to various bird species, the park's natural setting offers a delightful spectacle for nature lovers. The changing seasons also bring out the beauty of the woodland, providing a unique experience throughout the year.
Beyond the park's boundaries, guests can explore the southern end of the Peak District and the charming town of Ashbourne, known as "The Gateway to the Peak District." The area boasts a wealth of attractions, including historic market towns, scenic trails for walking and cycling, and renowned stately homes such as Chatsworth House.
An onsite information point offers valuable insights into local attractions, walking routes, cycling trails, and dog-friendly destinations, ensuring that guests can plan memorable outings during their stay.

Friendly, clean & well laid out 🙂
Owners were lovely, Very welcoming, friendly and informative. Facilities are immaculate
Lovely adult only site in a beautiful Woodland setting, really peaceful and pitches set a nice distance apart to give intimity. The facilities are immaculate, lovely hot showers and nice touches in the bathrooms to keep areas clean for the next user - same goes for the washing up area. They've really thought of everything. Lots of resources in the info room on things to do + books & DVDs. Also noticed a microwave and kettle and another electric cooker to prepare meals although I didn't use them they were a nice touch if you need to. The couple running the site are lovely and helpful too and explained an easy route to walk into Ashbourne. I'd definitely recommend this site and wouldn't hesitate to return.
Lovely site, plenty of greenery, trees and privacy between pitches.Toilets and showers were spotlessVery friendly staff and some lovely cakes too!
The place is quiet and very clean. Unfortunately, the options for walking the dog aren't great. Or perhaps we just didn't find them in the short time we were there.
Fantastic clean facilities - a very quite and peaceful location
This is a wonderful little site, exactly as described. They do say on the website that if you love the sun it's not the site for you and that's true as you do get a little but not alot but that was just what we were looking for. Its brilliant how they have a lovely secure dog run and it's not in the sun so lovely for us and our dog. Lovely walks just outside the site entrance. Have a nice little reception area where you can buy essentials including lovely ice cream and doggy ice-cream too. Showers and toilets spotlessly clean. The owners of the site cannot do enough for you lovely people and would definitely recommend for anyone like us that loves shade when it's really hot.
We stayed here for a weekend, choosing the site specifically because of its proximity to home and the wonderful ½-acre woodland freedom area. We were delighted to be able to bring our five miniature dachshunds (yes, five!) and spend a relaxing weekend beneath the canopy of the trees. For dog owners, this space is incredibly valuable, especially if opportunities for walking or exercising dogs are limited. The red and green system works brilliantly, allowing guests either to socialise their dogs with others or enjoy the area privately. The owners, Dave and Ruth, were extremely friendly, welcoming and accommodating throughout our stay. The site facilities were excellent, and the shower block was exceptionally clean, with plenty of hot water.Thank you for having our party of seven. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would happily return.Wishing you all the very best and continued success. Keep safe and well. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
We absolutely loved our stay here. The woodland setting is so quiet and peaceful - the perfect place to rest and recharge. Fellow campers were friendly and also respectful of the location. The owners, Dave and Ruth are absolute stars! Nothing is too much trouble for them and they went above and beyond with their service and help. They make this campsite stand out amongst others because they really care about the grounds, the amenities (which are spotless), and the enjoyment of the visitors. We will definitely go back to this woodland oasis.
Great campsite facilities were good and always clean. Nice area for dogs and a nice walk to Clifton village along the country road. Owners very helpfulWill definitely be back
