Woodland Caravan Park is a serene getaway nestled in 10 acres of natural woodland within the Snelston Hall Estate. Catering exclusively to adults aged 18 and above, this park provides a peaceful retreat for discerning guests seeking a quiet and relaxing holiday amidst nature's embrace.
As the name suggests, the park offers a woodland setting where all pitches are strategically placed among the trees. While this guarantees a tranquil atmosphere, it also means that pitches may not be bathed in sunlight throughout the day, adding to the rustic charm of the experience.
Conveniently located just 2 miles south of the picturesque market town of Ashbourne, Woodland Caravan Park is within easy reach of numerous cultural and outdoor activities. Proximity to the stunning Peak District makes this park an ideal base for walkers, cyclists, and nature enthusiasts, offering convenient access to the area's natural beauty and attractions.
Accommodating a total of 50 well-placed hard standing pitches suitable for touring caravans, motorhomes, and trailer tents/folding campers, this park ensures a comfortable and enjoyable stay amidst the woodland ambiance.
** Unfortunately, tents are not accepted. **
Facilities at Woodland Caravan Park are designed to enhance guest’s holiday experience. Modern heated toilet and shower facilities are meticulously maintained for cleanliness, with free showers, hairdryers in the ladies' washroom, and electric shaver points in the gent's washroom provided for convenience. Additionally, a modern accessible disabled toilet and shower room cater to guests with specific needs.
Laundry facilities include a washing machine and tumble dryer (charges apply), along with an iron and ironing board for added convenience. Guests can also utilise a microwave oven and enjoy a book exchange service during their stay. For outdoor enthusiasts, a secure one-acre dog exercise area is provided, complete with shaded spots, ensuring a comfortable and safe environment for your four-legged friends.
One of the highlights of staying at this park is the opportunity to connect with nature and observe diverse wildlife. From squirrels and pheasants to various bird species, the park's natural setting offers a delightful spectacle for nature lovers. The changing seasons also bring out the beauty of the woodland, providing a unique experience throughout the year.
Beyond the park's boundaries, guests can explore the southern end of the Peak District and the charming town of Ashbourne, known as "The Gateway to the Peak District." The area boasts a wealth of attractions, including historic market towns, scenic trails for walking and cycling, and renowned stately homes such as Chatsworth House.
An onsite information point offers valuable insights into local attractions, walking routes, cycling trails, and dog-friendly destinations, ensuring that guests can plan memorable outings during their stay.

We have used this site for many years as it is close to Yeaveley shooting ground. It has always been good but the current owners, Ruth and David have taken it to another level. The toilet / shower facilities are second to none. The site is very secure and the owners couldn't be more helpful. I would have no reservations in recommending this site.
Everyone really helpful. Just sorry that we don’t have a caravan anymore as would love a season pitch there.
Simply brilliant site .Staff from when you arrive to when you leave are extremely pleasant and polite .This is a little hidden of a gem of a site and the toilet block is absolutely spotless and clean. The dog walk area is fantastic being enclosed gives me a chance to let my greyhound off the lead..
Cannot fault the facilities, toilet block the cleanest I’ve found with lots of thoughtful extras. My main concern with it though is with only two toilets and three showers I’m not sure these would be enough with the site full. Again I cannot fault the condition of the site but for us the lack of a view and sunshine as it’s in woodland was an issue. The site is very well run and kept in great condition with credit to the owners but as we very rarely visit the same site more than once and would recommend it to others we will not unfortunately be returning.
Experienced campers, but having worked our way up through tents and a camper van, we had our first go in a touring caravan. We were met with a spacious, level pitch, beautifully maintained site and facilities, and incredibly friendly and helpful wardens for whom nothing was too much trouble. The birdsong at dawn was incredible, and the general atmosphere was one of peace and calm. Great enclosed dog area, lovely country pub a short drive (or longer walk) away, and a cafe for a slap up greasy-spoon breakfast across the road at the raceway, if that’s your thing. There was a track day on during our stay. Did we hear the bikes? Yes, just. Did it bother us? No more than normal background road noise. All in all, a great stay!
We were looking for a nice site, in a nice setting, and in a nice area to unwind for a few days. We got everything we hoped for, and so much more! The On-line Booking system was easy but the smiles started as soon as we pulled into the site entrance and we just knew we had made a good choice. We parked up at the office forecourt where we were greeted by the owners/managers Dave and Ruth, a lovely friendly couple showing their passion whilst explaining site procedures and locations of facilities, we were shown to our pitch, which was a good size for our caravan, awning and car, i did wonder why they asked the size of caravan when i was booking in, now looking at other pitches i see that there are different sizes to suit the sizes of caravans and motorhomes (hadn't come across this before). The beautiful woodland setting and layout of pitches gives a calm peaceful feeling which was complimented by the varied chorus from the birdlife. The site is surrounded by many places of interest too.
Been a few times over year's and always love my stay there. The site is surrounded by woodland and so relaxing. Great dog walking area that is all fenced off .They have a shower block with showers and a few toilets and washing area, in both the lady's and men's. Washing up area for your pots and pans. Bin area with a recycling area too. The owners are fantastic and see you to your pitch and see you leave too. They have a little shop for cakes and alike in the office. Overall a brilliant and friendly owner site and now it's a top of my list when im in that area or passing through. Ashbourne is very near and is a must visit. The best fish and chip shop anywhere I've ventured and always have to get them . Thank you both for a fantastic stay.
We found woodlands caravan sight absolutely second to none. The grounds , shower ,toilets exceptional and washing facilities. Ruth and Dave have covered everything you could possibly want or need. Would highly recommend.
Lovely site and nice idea for the dog walking area as you can put a green or red sign up depending if your dog likes mixing with others. Not much to do in walking distance but we preferred to just chill. The owner even got me a loaf of bread when he went to the shop as the missus had forgotten to pack some.
