The road and surroundings to the location were beautiful and with pictures taken on your website showing gorgeous views we were looking forward to our two night stay. Sadly, and we felt it might be the case, the pictures were very clever as it did not truly show that there would be a big bank infront of us blocking out any view of the sea. The area we stayed was very clean but over the banking behind us looked like a different world with seasonal pitches looking more like a rubbish tip than an upmarket listed site. Walking through this area was not pleasant and fortunately we were able to walk a different route when we found it. Facilities were ok but I still had to wait to shower. I decided to use our motorhome shower on the second morning of our stay. Site team were lovely and very helpful. The site is in a rather unique and beautiful part of the world with the most incredible housing community on the cliff top. Fully serviced were as expected but disappointed about the view
Steak pie had no steak in it? Waitress took wrong order both of us received mash and not chips, when told this and the fact my wife asked for no gravy meal was taken away and gravy just tipped off leaving of course veg still covered in gravy. I asked for wine list it was brought but she did not return to take order. Plates were still on table 10 minutes after main course finished and we were never asked if we wanted a desert.. Chips that replaced her mash had been reheated.. We were charged extra for the chips which should have been a replacement for the mash, but by this time i was a little hacked off so didn't complain. You are doing so well with most things on site i was reluctant to post this, but thought you need to know,. We haven't been down for a while because of covid and my wife's health, but over the years we have visited regularly, and we know how difficult a business it is to run, and overall well done.I understand it was the owners daughter that served us,handle with care
Everyone that we dealt with during our short stay were very friendly and helpful. The Sunday roast was amazing, plenty of meat and lovely veg.The views from our room in the Tamar Suite were fantastic. Our dogs were made to feel very welcome.
The communication upon booking with the site was first class , accommodating to our request and welcoming upon arrival .The facilities were good , clean and easy to navigate around - the female showers were not that warm but it was a very cold day .The pub and restaurant was welcoming and priced well. The food was very nice and the chips were gorgeous !The bar staff were friendly , maybe a couple of pointers to pour a good pint of Guinness would be advantageous for the summer season !
The circumstances of our stay in winter were such that we only needed a bed for a couple of nights whilst visiting others in the area. As such, we only booked into a Tamar bedroom. Although spotlessly clean and nicely furnished, we could have done with at least one chair inside to sit on (both in 70s). Our arrival had to be outside the normal reception hours for winter, but alternative book-in was happily arranged and worked. Only downside was a glitch with breakfast timing on first morning. Our family joined us for an evening meal in the restaurant, which was first rate and service was excellent. We unfortunately didn't get the chance to explore the area outside the fort, but our family stay in the area often and say Whitsand Bay has a lovely quiet beach with rocks & rock pools for children to enjoy. The views were beautiful and varied from various parts of the Fort site.
The management were friendly and the facilities spotless
Overall impressions on arrival very good. Easy checkin and suite although cold soon warmed up. We ate in the restaurant and both Maria and Ali very welcoming Maria certainly couldn’t do enough for us a real gem. Food was very generous portions but wasn’t very warm. Breakfast was served in the cafe and cooked freshly by Marcus and was lovely the only thing I would have said it would have been nice to have perhaps cereal or fruit option.
What an amazing site to stay on- facilities were fantastic, staff super friendly and the pool was awesome. Will defo be coming back.
Loved everything from friendly helpful staff to lovely accomodation and facilities
