Did a weekend camping trip fri and sat got a great pitch with stunning views had some great food and a nice beer as well everything was clean and tidy and the staff was very polite and friendly and u get to stay in a fort
Stayed in a Tamar Suite with lovely views. Room was very clean, shower was good. Staff were friendly and helpful. Close to Whitsand Bay, quite a steep climb down to sandy beaches which were very quiet considering it was a sunny day in September. The Fort Inn was great for breakfast and dinner. Good choice of food and drinks and very efficient service. Café was not open while we were staying, although the Fort Inn was open from 8am to around 9pm each day.
This was our third stay at Whitsand Bay Fort. Radar Heights Cottage had the most wonderful views. Sadly in August 2023 the views were mostly of storms coming in from the Atlantic. Had the weather been better we imagine sitting on the deck and going in the hot tub with sea views would have been just wonderful. The cottage was nice but the lodges we stayed in previously were better furnished. There was no storage in bedroom 3 (just a bed). We liked the restaurant and bar on site, and of the location of Whitsand Bay Fort is just fantastic for going to the beach and exploring the area around Plymouth. We will be back again in the future.
Ok for a one night stay. Receptionist was in training , but not overly welcoming and neither was her supervisor. However, the wardens seemed friendly enough. The site and pitches were a bit unkempt, but it served its purpose.
Lodge furnished to a high standard, perfectly clean. Staff very helpful and informative. Excellent standard food in the restaurant, site well kept and views spectacular. It would be hard to find a better place to relax. Many thanks Whitsand Bay Fort.Brian Moore.
Lovely warm indoor swimming pool. Excellent pub restaurant. Gravel pitch so no problems with occasional rain shower. Local bus service (if you fancy a one-way walk on the SW coastal path nearby)
Friendly staff, good restaurant and bar with reasonable prices. Fully serviced pitches including chemical waste. Great location with quick route down to beach and lovely Cawsand a few miles away. Receptionist needs to be trained about facilities on offer and it would be helpful to have a map of the site. 10:00 am vacation of pitches is too early. 11 would be more reasonable
Impressed:The area is beautiful with many things to see. Beaches, coastline, walks all available but the area is inevitably hilly. Villages of Cawsand and Kingsand were lovely as was the National Trust property called St Anthony. Walking the coast path across the Rame peninsular is a must.It made an excellent area to explore by bike although and electric bike is recomended. The restaurant, bar area and outside eating area were very pleasant places to be. All facilities exceptionally clean and welcoming. The food was prepared to a high standard and was very reasonably priced. Generous discounts were available when I visited. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Although new staff gave misleading information about the toilet emptying facilities in the fully serviced pitch but this was an easy mistake to make.Disappointment: Caravan site there was no view. Having said that the protection from wind may be welcome in the winter months.Recommend a site map
Fantastic location and views, staff were very friendly and helpful, food and service were good,I understand some of the facilities were being upgraded and yes it is needed ie.our room was tired and definitely needed sorting especially for the price paid. The wooden chairs on the veranda were damaged and dangerous and were only fit for firewood
The Rame Head area is beautiful, with great bus routes, lovely walks & amazing sunsets (If you climb up into the high bank). However, we were very disappointed in the campsite. It looked so much nicer on the website. The picture shown when booking makes it look like you have a wonderful sea view, but in reality all you see is a high grass bank. The toilet/shower facilities are part of the public swimming pool or bar facilities. Our gravel pitch had about 12 discarded tent pegs scattered on it, which could have caused a lot of damage to our vehicle. The whole site could do with a complete revamp & clean up, with a dedicated facilities block for campers. There is a lot of history on the site but it just looks untidy, it could be so much better. It's such a shame because we were so looking forward to staying there. It was very expensive for what you get. Unfortunately, we won't be returning.
Thank you for your review. Our website advertises that we are on the coastline and that views are from the park, not pitches. There are many vantage points on the park to relax and enjoy viewing. Our gallery clearly shows the grassed bank on the opposite side of the pitches. We have a dedicated toilet and shower block for our campers as well as an undercover wetsuit shower and pot wash area. The showers within the pool complex change rooms are for swimmers only, and the bar restaurant has toilet facilities for customer use.We apologise for the discarded tent pegs and will ensure that our maintenance team inspect the pitches prior to arrivals to avoid this in the future.Thank you
