What an amazing site, so close to Pickering but another world away. This site is absolutely immaculate, well thought out and a real haven of peace, everything has been thought off and well cared for and maintained to a very high standard. The facilities were spotless, if only all caravan sites were this well cared for. The owners have obviously devoted a lot of time and care in creating and maintaining this site. Its situation is spot on for discovering the delights of this beautiful area of Yorkshire with all its history. We enjoyed Pickering itself, with its steam railway, the castle and those fantastic mediaeval wall paintings in the church. The walled gardens at Helmsley beside the castle were a real treat. Nunnington Hall (NT) was a lovely old house and walled garden and we finished the afternoon off with a visit to the church at Kirkdale with its amazing Saxon sundial. Thank you Dave and Karen,it was a wonderful holiday we hope to return to continue exploring this lovely area
Ideally located for visiting the sites in North Yorkshire, this site is a firm favorite of ours. In a few weeks time we'll be staying here for the 5th time. That says it all.Welcoming hosts. Good sized pitches. Clean facilities in good working order. The best dog walk you can find. Wildlife all around the site. Easy to access. The site is about a mile away from the market town of Pickering and a few miles from the North Yorkshire Moors. Shops and a supermarket in Pickering with everything you'll need. Good road links. This place has it all. One visit and you will be hooked! Oh, I forgot to mention that this site is peaceful too, absolutely no road traffic noise or light pollution. If you're lucky and the conditions are right, you could get to see the Northern Lights.
Loved our stay, been here a few times, lovely owners, lovely campsite, lovely clean toilets and showers, lovely walk around the field and see the animals, not far from the centre of Pickering which you can walk too, Brilliant cannot wait to go again.
We were welcomed by the owner who went through the welcome pack, and explained how we used the card for the electric meter in a very clear manner. She said if there were any problem to let her know immediately. We liked that the pitches each had their own 'bays' so it felt very private, glad we haad a uper pitch the water and waste were next to the van. Although we didn't use the shower, the toilet block was very clean. Very easy to recycle as all the bins were clearly marked. The only thing that we didn't like was the single track road (which is why it is specified you can only arrive after a certain time). This was quite bumpy and that first drive down was very daunting. We had to drive into the village every time we wanted anything as it was too far for us to walk. On the whole though it was perfect for the three days we were there, as we had just moved house and needed the peace and quiet to 'recharge our batteries.
We have stayed at this campsite three years in a row now and in all our years of caravanning, have never found a better site! From the warm and friendly welcome to the tranquil surroundings and general cleanliness and beauty of the place, it is just top notch! Karen and Dave have obviously put their heart and soul into developing this site which is evident to see as soon as you arrive.I cannot for one moment imagine that anyone would be disappointed with their stay here and we will definitely be returning soon.
Thank you so much for such a positive, lovely reviewWe look forward to seeing you both very soonBest wishes Dave & Karen x
This was our 2nd visit, and it won't be the last. You will receive a warm welcome, be signposted to your pitch and receive an informative pack. The owners take exceptional care of this site, and each pitch is secluded just enough to ensure privacy and peace. The site is secure and the toilet/shower facilities are immaculate. You can walk into the town centre in around 20-30 minutes. Pickering points of interest:The Rose Inn pub is a stunning spot overlooking the riverThe artisan market stall holders are super friendly Breakfasts in the many independent cafes in the centre are deliciousFriendly charity shops Hidden market We can't wait to visit again!
We booked Clearview Cottage as our base to show the grandkids what North Yorkshire had to offer. The cottage has a great location overlooking the North Yorkshire Moors Railway and they loved watching the trains from the windows or patio. The premises were very well presented and equipped and we found our stay very comfortable and relaxing.Pickering itself has great character and there are shops, bakeries and other eating establishments within a few minutes walk.During our stay we visited Whitby (a favourite of my wife and mine for many years), Robin Hoods Bay, Scarborough and more inland venues including National Railway Museum, Brimham Rocks and the Web Adventure Park on the outskirts of York( I would highly recommend this for fun and great value for anyone with a young family). We would definitely stay here again (we have another seven grandchildren who haven’t been yet!)
Beautifully kept site, grass and hedgerows well maintained. Toilets and showers clean and well appointed. Plenty of space between units and loads of grass in front. The pond area is delightful as is the riverside walk.
This was a second stay at this site and once again I was impressed with how well run the site is. We were greeted at reception and given a pack of information and shown to our pitch. The facilities are all clearly signposted and everything is pristine. The location is great for walking and it's a 20 minute walk into Pickering. The site was lovely and quiet. We had a non electric tent pitch for our campervan which looked over the pond with lots of room and privacy. I would highly recommend the site. The only little thing I might suggest is a hairdryer in the toilets as I'd forgotten mine so this would have been a bonus. Apologies if there is one that I missed 😊
One of the best sites we've stayed at. Quiet, clean, well laid out. Pickering 1 mile away. David and Karen are great hosts. Capelmanns Fish and chips in Pickering recommended.
