Vale of Pickering Caravan Park

4.8 (277 reviews)

Since 1985, we have provided keen campers and outdoor enthusiasts with a well kept, family run and top quality caravan park. With its panoramic views, our site is generously planted with trees, shrubs, flower beds and hanging baskets. We can facilitate a wide range of camping and touring options including caravans, motorhomes, campervans, trailer tents and tents.

Our 5 star holiday park is owned and run by the Stockdale family. We have been providing touring and camping holidays since 1985. We are a farming family who diversified into tourism and originally opened with 5 caravans in the corner of the field. We have steadily grown over the years into the award winning park that we are today. With continual investment we work hard to ensure our grounds and facilities are kept in tip-top condition so that our guests can have a memorable stay.

Our grassed camping areas at The Vale of Pickering are all level and can accommodate most tent sizes. As well as having camping pitches on the main park we also have an adjoining camping field. Some pitches for tents have electric hook up (6 amp) but these are limited in number. 6 amp hook ups are suitable for low wattage appliances only.

Our spacious all-weather touring pitches are suitable for touring caravans, motor-homes, camper vans and trailer tents up to a maximum length of 27ft. Pitches are level and well drained. We have 2 chemical disposal points and a drive-up motor home waste water point.

We pre-allocate pitches on booking and will always try our best to meet any requests made. Touring pitches have a 10amp electric hook up supply. Some touring pitches overlook the children’s play area and several are close to the shower block. Our centrally heated wash-rooms are situated in a central location within the park.

Our licensed onsite shop is open daily and caters for most needs, stocking basic necessities, children's toys and a small range of caravan and camping equipment. The local butcher supplies us with tasty bacon and sausages and we also stock free range eggs from a local supplier.

Our surrounding area really is 'Gods Own County' and is very special to us. We love to share our knowledge of the local area which in turn helps you to plan your days out to get the most out of the time you spend with us. There really is something for everyone including the coastal towns of Scarborough, Whitby, Filey, Bridlington, the stunning North York Moors and historic market towns of Pickering, Malton and Helmsley.

We have a host of popular attractions nearby including The North York Moors Railway, Dalby Forest, Flamingo Land and Castle Howard to name but a few. We are committed to stocking local produce in our shop and cafe wherever possible supporting our local producers and makers. You will be spoilt for choice when it comes to dining out. Our local village pub The Cayley Arms, Allerston is just 1.25 miles from our park and the Coachman Inn, Snainton is 3 miles from the park offering excellent food and drinks.

We invite you to relax and share with us our 'Happy Place'.

Perfect Hidden Gem

Parkin, Daniel - 10/09/2026

Stunning campsite that is clean, tidy and very well looked after. Based in a quiet location around 15minutes outside of Pickering and 10 minutes from Dalby forest, the campsite boasts a perfect get-away for both Couples or Families travelling with kids. The children's play area is well kept with plenty for the kids to do, there is a activity field located on-site which offers plenty of space for kids or adults to burn off some energy.Facilities are perfectly clean, and spacious. Café on site serving coffee, cakes, breakfast and Pizza's in the evening. What more could you want. Highly recommended - We will definitely be retuning, again.

Lovely stay as usual.

Worsnop, Clive - 06/09/2026

We stayed over the long bank holiday weekend and the site was full.( Lots of kids as you would expect, but not unruly at all, just playing and being kids!!. Nothing to spoil our enjoyment)Reception still managed to juggle bookings allowing us to add an extra day at very short notice, even managed to keep the same pitch all through out stay even though I was expecting to have to move for the extra day.Exceptional service as usual. Site is clean, tidy and beautifully maintained throughout as are the facilities. On site cafe serves lovely breakfasts and makes cracking pizza on a Friday too.Only 90 mins from home, but quickly turning into our goto site for a last minute getaway.

No better place to stay

Hare, Amy - 05/09/2026

We first came to the Vale of Pickering Caravan Park about eight years ago and never went anywhere else again! It's one of my favourite places to be and somewhere that our family just loves to be and we now leave our caravan there using the store and stay facility. The team who run and work at the site are AMAZING. They are so friendly and helpful and have so often gone the extra mile to help us when we have needed it. The whole site is immaculately maintained and the facilities are always clean. In all the times we have visited I have never once found the bathrooms to be dirty, even at peak times. The site is also great for children, our son has been going since he was young and still enjoys it now as a teenager. There are so many places that are so readily accessible from the site too - the coast, Dalby Forest and the surrounding towns and villages to name but a few. I highly recommend booking a stay - you won't regret it.

Lovely Site

Foster, Emma - 05/09/2026

Lovely site. Easy to find and get to. Super location for lots of beautiful parts of the North Yorkshire Moors and beyond. We visited Pickering, Thornton le Dale, the Hole of Horcum and Whitby, which were all just a short drive away. The site is very well maintained with nice level pitches which are a decent size. Checking in was very easy and efficient. The shop was small but had plenty of essentials. The site is very quiet with no road noise just the occasional passing tractor. We were very near the play park and cafe but there was still very little disruption and no sound late at night. The onsite cafe was a very welcome addition. We had some lovely breakfasts there and they do pizzas on a Friday evening too. There was a fish and chip van on the Saturday night, which was some of the best fish I'd had in a long time.

Lovely Site would return

Parker, Lisa - 04/09/2026

Have been here numerous times, always clean, tidy site and ammenities, friendly helpful staff. Just one thing we would say, we wouldn't go on a bank holiday again, kids running riot, shower blocks a mess and the motorhome on the pitch nxt to us had parked at the wrong side of the pitch, we had no privacy and when they put their canopy up it was virtually touching our van, never experienced any of these things before, so would still go back, just choose our times better 😊

Hi Lisa, Thank you for taking the time to leave us this review. It is wonderful to see that the title of this review is 'lovely site would return', which fills us with confidence that you enjoyed your stay. It is a shame to read that you found our shower blocks to not be up to their usual standard, we take a lot of pride in the cleanliness and presentation of our facilities, so it really is upsetting and a rare occurrence to hear this. Since this was not brought to our attention at the time, I will presume this was rectified during our 3 times daily checks that were carried out over the August Bank Holiday. Unfortunately it sounds like the neighbouring pitch may have got confused with the set up of their pitch, which is a shame to hear, especially considering it was impeding on your set up. If this had been raised with the reception team, they would have been more than happy to address this with the customer so that your stay was not affected. All things aside, it really is great to hear that you will book on for a quieter period next time, and we look forward to seeing you again soon!Caitlin :)
