Our 5 star holiday park is owned and run by the Stockdale family. We have been providing touring and camping holidays since 1985. We are a farming family who diversified into tourism and originally opened with 5 caravans in the corner of the field. We have steadily grown over the years into the award winning park that we are today. With continual investment we work hard to ensure our grounds and facilities are kept in tip-top condition so that our guests can have a memorable stay.
Our grassed camping areas at The Vale of Pickering are all level and can accommodate most tent sizes. As well as having camping pitches on the main park we also have an adjoining camping field. Some pitches for tents have electric hook up (6 amp) but these are limited in number. 6 amp hook ups are suitable for low wattage appliances only.
Our spacious all-weather touring pitches are suitable for touring caravans, motor-homes, camper vans and trailer tents up to a maximum length of 27ft. Pitches are level and well drained. We have 2 chemical disposal points and a drive-up motor home waste water point.
We pre-allocate pitches on booking and will always try our best to meet any requests made. Touring pitches have a 10amp electric hook up supply. Some touring pitches overlook the children’s play area and several are close to the shower block. Our centrally heated wash-rooms are situated in a central location within the park.
Our licensed onsite shop is open daily and caters for most needs, stocking basic necessities, children's toys and a small range of caravan and camping equipment. The local butcher supplies us with tasty bacon and sausages and we also stock free range eggs from a local supplier.
Our surrounding area really is 'Gods Own County' and is very special to us. We love to share our knowledge of the local area which in turn helps you to plan your days out to get the most out of the time you spend with us. There really is something for everyone including the coastal towns of Scarborough, Whitby, Filey, Bridlington, the stunning North York Moors and historic market towns of Pickering, Malton and Helmsley.
We have a host of popular attractions nearby including The North York Moors Railway, Dalby Forest, Flamingo Land and Castle Howard to name but a few. We are committed to stocking local produce in our shop and cafe wherever possible supporting our local producers and makers. You will be spoilt for choice when it comes to dining out. Our local village pub The Cayley Arms, Allerston is just 1.25 miles from our park and the Coachman Inn, Snainton is 3 miles from the park offering excellent food and drinks.
We invite you to relax and share with us our 'Happy Place'.
All of our pitches are level and well drained. Touring hard-standing pitches have a 10amp electric supply.

All reviews featured on Campstead.com have been submitted by genuine customers who have stayed at the park.
We had a wonderful stay at Vale of Pickering once again. The site is always spotlessly clean and tidy and the facilities are first class and one of the best we have used. Pitches are large with plenty of room and all the staff go over and above to ensure a perfect stay. The cafe on site serves delicious food and coffees and even have a pizza night. Site is perfectly situated in the countryside but very close to Pickering, Thornton le Dale, Malton and the Dalby forest.Perfect for families and couples this is one of our regular go to sites. Look forward to coming back soon.
What a wonderful review to read Peter, thank you for taking the time to leave it for us. We certainly look forward to your return!Caitlin :)
Lovely site friendly staff , toilets and showers excellent and immaculate close to pickering and thornton le dale, will be returningA++++++++
A great review John, thank you for taking the time to leave it! Caitlin :)
First class campsite, great facilitates which are always immaculately clean. Would highly recommend.
Thank you for leaving us this shining review. Lovely to see you found the site to be first class! See you again in the near future.Caitlin :)
A site we regularly return too due to the exceptional facilities and grounds.
Hi Andrew, always wonderful to hear that customers return to us time and time again. We look forward to welcoming you back again in the future!Caitlin :)
We knew as soon as we drove into the site we had made the decision. Lovely staff in the reception that made you feel welcome. Great facilities you can even have a bath if you wanted. The toilets & showers were impeccably clean to a high standard. The grandkids loved that the play park was very near to our pitch ( although something for over aged 6 would be great )But still a ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ from us 😊
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review Sandra, we will pass the relevant comments on to the reception team regarding the lovely welcome you received! We are so pleased that you found our site to be 5 stars, and hope to welcome you back again in the near future. Caitlin :)
Fantastic site. Facilities were so clean and plentiful. The staff were welcoming and friendly. The sites are spaced well and well tended to. It was a very quiet and peaceful and ai many places to visit within short travel distances. The local pubs were also fantastic....too far to walk to any but only a short trip by car and we enjoyed some great meals. We will definitely be booking to stay again!
A lovely review to read, especially wonderful to see that you would definitely book to stay again! See you again soon!Caitlin :)
Great location and a peaceful ambience. Good facilities and helpful staff too. My only gripe is the short span push button shower system. Much too short.
Hi Richard, Thank you for taking the time to leave us this review. We appreciate your feedback and are currently looking into the push buttons, with both sustainability and customer satisfaction in mind. Caitlin :)
Staff, facilities, pitches and location are all fantastic. Great position to access coast and moors, and the local towns of Pickering (North York Moors Railway) and Thornton le Dale (where Baldersons ice cream is a must) Our favourite site of the many we go to
A wonderful review to read, so thank you for taking the time to leave it Michael. We look forward to your return!Caitlin :)
We had a lovely pleasant stay. Very easy. Very clean. Good location. We will be back very soon. The one small request I would make is a sign or two to remind dog owners to keep on their lead. We had the dog from the next pitch coming over to our tent on two occasions, and whilst no bother, I am a little scared of dogs and the site said dogs always on a lead.
Hi Stephanie, We are grateful you have taken the time to leave us this review, and are pleased you had a lovely pleasant stay. We appreciate your feedback regarding the dogs, and it is a shame that this was the case during your stay. We would like to reiterate that we are contactable 24/7 via telephone for any issues that arise during your stay, and can only apologise on this occasion for for any inconvenience caused. We hope to welcome you back again in the near future. Caitlin :)
