Great priced pitches, toilets and showers are clean, great place for walking as it is on the Tissington Trail plus there is a public footpath to another pub that has sports on the TV and pool tables. Lovely food at the pub, but a booking is essential as it's very busy but also dog friendly. This is our second stay, would recommend for a night away.
We love this campsite. It’s small and friendly and a great location for walking and exploring.
We had a great stay at the Royal Oak campsite, spacious pitch, well looked after, toilets and showers very clean.
Great place friendly staff, the site is well spaced it has a shower and toilet block.. which beats a porter potty any day of the week.Pub is reasonably priced and the food is very good.Weve stayed there twice now and i have no doubt we will be staying there again next year.
I stayed at the campsite at The Royal Oak after walking the Tissingom Ashbourne Trail from Ashbourne. The staff were very friendly and nk nknk helpful when I booked in for my camp for the night. The camping pitch was level and spacious and it had a path which conveniently led directly to the High Peak Trail. The shower and toilet were a short walk from the pitch and were spotlessly clean. I booked a table in the restaurant for my evening meal and I had lamb's liver and mash followed by sticky toffee pudding and custard. My complements to the chef, both dishes were delicious. The only downside of my stay was that I misplaced my trekking poles and I had to change my walking route the next day. I think that I had one Guinness too many. I will definitely be visiting again. Thank you. Jean Pierre Laurent.
No complaints about the facilities but £40 for a the superior pitch (just an extra pit and picnic bench) is a little expensive. The pub food was very nice though so would return for food for sure
Just one nights camping and an evening meal. Food excellent, Camping not so good due to inadequate sleeping bag.
Location good campsite small but lovely and pub was fantastic
The campsite is well organised with spacious pitches. We booked a super sized pitch with a bench and fire pit. Management were friendly and calm. It is a small site with adequate amount of showers and toilets which are kept well. Fabulous thanks. Iain.
Great campsite. Great location for a run and bike ride the morning after. Good food but miss the old beef and Stilton pie. The new ones aren’t a patch on them. We used to come just for the food!
