The Oaks lakes at Sessay in North Yorkshire is home to lakes for both match and pleasure fishing. The lakes originally opened in 1994 starting with the Willows lake and over the years it has steadily grown. We currently have 10 lakes with over 400 Pegs, a large café, tackle shop and this year we will be opening a caravan Park in a quiet corner of the lakes so that everyone can come and enjoy the North's most well-known fishing complex.
The 4-acre field is rectangular with a mature wood running along the North West side providing shelter and privacy from the fishing lakes, the North east side faces the Hambleton Hills and the white horse.
A small peaceful, adults only, touring caravan park with supersized hard standing pitches all with their own electrical hook-up, situated in a quiet corner of the fishery but with easy access to the lakes and facilities. Next door to the tackle shop is the Oaks Lakes Cafe which is open everyday, serving cooked breakfasts, bacon sandwiches, panini's, soups, homemade cakes, ice creams and hot and cold drinks.
The Oaks Lakes sit to the North end of the village and are screened with woodland and hedges there are 10 fishing lakes used for many course fishing competitions and featured regularly in the leading angling magazines. The whole area teams with places to go, whether you want to Walk, Cycle or Drive there is plenty to do here is a few: 18 miles away is the ancient walled City of York straight down the A19 approx 35 Minutes. 3 miles will take you to the market town of Thirsk, with its interesting James Herriott Museum. Castle Howard sits thirteen miles from us in the pretty market town of Helmsley.
All pitches are level, supersized hardstanding approx 14m x 12m wide.

Booked four nights originally in the summer but due to unforeseen circumstances had to move them to October. No problem with moving booking. Had the whole place to myself the first night. Very peaceful stay. Site is in a superb location and accessible until 10.45pm after fishing at Topcliffe 3 miles away. Staff extremely helpful with booking and on arrival. Facilities good but toilets could perhaps be cleaner with bin full of paper towels. I imagine facilities would be busy if campsite is full. Overall very pleased and would definitely return.
3 day October fishing trip, easy to book extension days on the day after checking the weather, efficient online booking and remote arrival intercom procedure. Good to select preferred pitch in advance. Site very tidy, well kept and and clean.Look forward to site opening next year.
very good shower/toilet block. extra large pitches so you have room to move without seeing what next caravan are having for dinner ..excellent
Great people friendly staff, and Great Lakes
Previously the Oaks Lake Site has been one of our favourites and hadn’t been for a while. Now the trees have been allowed to grow too far and they have cut down the long tall trees so you can no longer see the wonderful countryside, which was always a positive of the site.As a result you could be anywhere and no view from the pitches. A real shame as I say as we loved this site, but unlikely to go there again because of this. Man important part for us at sites is views of the countryside.
Thank you for your comments, we are waiting until we close in afew weeks at the end of October for the tractor to come in and cut all the hedges also this winter we will thin out the trees for safety, so all the views will be seen once again, we are only allowed to cut the hedges at certain times of year due to nesting birds.
It's a lovely site with very spacious pitches in lovely surroundings. The owners are very friendly and accomodating. The nearby town of Thirsk and countryside is definitely worth revisiting. The facilities are very clean, but we found the shower cubicles a bit tight to dress in! Better not put on any more weight!
very quite site with good space between vans, clean facilities. café excellent.
Fantastic site if you like fishing, and close to places like York and Thirsk for shopping. We go every year twice.
Excellent little site very clean facilities and nice and quiet relaxing atmosphere pitches are very spacious and well maintained staff very friendly and welcoming definitely recommended. Top quality fishing also with tackle shop and a nice clean cafe second to none
