Really loved our stay at Baxby Manor. As we stayed in Nov it was very quiet which we loved. So nice to be away from the hustle and bustle but with amenities on site ....we took advantage of the pizza shack for pizza night and also breakfast sandwiches which were both fantastic. Also lovely pub in the village. Am sure we'll be back, maybe in the spring time when we can see more of the location. Everything you could possibly need in the Kabina (except a TV....which again was a very good thing for a change!)
Although we had booked into a Kabina,, our younger daughter and family stayed there whilst we joined our older daughter and family in Rufus's Roost. This was a total surprise and well above anything we were expecting. Welcoming, warm [we stayed mid November], helpful staff and a well equipped kitchen. The children loved the "surprise" down the slide and it kept them happy during the early evening dark. We enjoyed exploring nearby Sutton Bank to see the White Horse, with the gliders taken off over head and the Plum and Partridge supplied a lovely Sunday lunch for 18, as we met up with friends to celebrate two birthdays.Waking up to such spectacular views and seeing so many stars by night was the icing on the cake. Thank you and Good Luck
The Hideaway@Baxby was a fantastic way to spend our half term Halloween get-away this year. From the moment we arrived, everybody was friendly and welcoming and the site had really got into the Halloween spirit, with pumpkins, smoke machine and lights, all adding to the atmosphere. The facilities and amenities were immaculately kept, thanks to everyone adhering to the rule of removing shoes in some of the shared areas. The showers and toilets were incredibly clean and, importantly for the time of year we visited, they were kept warm. Although our pod didn't have heat and electricity, we stayed warm and cosy with plenty of blankets and hot water bottles, and our family all slept well! The fire pit was a great feature and we created lovely memories by sitting around it as a family spotting shooting stars and satellites. We made use of the pizza shack on site and ate the beautiful pizzas around our campfire. We spotted all kinds of wildlife, including the free-range chickens!
My wife and I went to Baxby Manor as part of our honeymoon the peace and tranquility it brought after such a busy day was fantastic. Although we only stayed 2 nights, it was everything we wanted and needed. The bed is incredibly comfortable, the hot tub was amazing and the addition of the fire pit really added to our experience. Neither of us are particularly "outdoorsy" people, but we would love to come back to Baxby because it gets you away from everything. The calm still nights were a definite bonus and although only there for a short time, is a place I'll remember for a long time to come. The staff were also extremely friendly and accommodating, which is always nice to see and helps make you feel welcome.
We knew we were in for a treat, but as we walked the boardwalk to Rufus roost it became apparent its magical. The attention to detail in the quirky craftsmanship was high standard and on entering the main door we were all simply blown away. Simply stunning. Dimmed lighting, ambient music playing, a beautiful local welcome pack, with a touch of seasonal decor was all such a lovely touch, to set the mood. The kids couldn’t wait to explore. We ordered amazing pizza’s from the shack before telling the kids they had a find a secret door. On discovering the slide and games den their faces were a joy to see, needless to say thing spent quite a bit of time in there. Shooting stars from the hot tub, deer in the field with a cuppa on the veranda, luxurious beds and a cosy warm, relaxing, beautiful space was simply the rest and recharge we needed. We returned to the shack for amazing fish and chips and the pub in the village again served a high standard of food. Thanks Barney and the team.
I honestly cant complain at all. For someone like me that suffers with bad mental health, depression, anxiety and really bad overthinking baxby manor is the perfect place. I have finally found a place that brings me pure peace. The food is incredible and i would travel just for that pizza. (Yes its that good) If we could live there we would.
An amazing campsitecthexaccomidation was top notch with lots of crockery and glass wear, lovely wood burning stove, gas burner for a cuppa and really comfy beds. Planted well so they seemed quite private and a great little fire pit with plenty of seating. The facilities were very well maintained warm bathrooms with hot showers, lovely hand soap and very clean. Good pot wash and drying room. The pizza suck is a great idea providing fab food when you want something not from the fire! The shop is well stocked with things you may need.Half an hour away from York but it is very countrified!! An amazing campsite couldn’t ask for anything more!
Toilets and facilities lovely and clean. Private pitches laid out really well . Can’t fault it . Shame we didn’t have the weather but that didn’t dampen our spirits
This site is brilliant! We were checked on by a very helpful and friendly man. It's such a pretty & peaceful place to be and the surrounding area is perfect for exploring. We stayed in a Kabina which was gorgeous, cosy and clean with all the equipment you need. The other camping options looked lovely too and the on site facilities were good. We tried the pizza shack which I would recommend (not just pizza - fries and breakfasts too). I would recommend this campsite, we will definitely come back.
The toilet, and shower block are very clean, the on site pizza hut is open till late at night, we have been to Baxby Manor five times now for short breaks, stayed in eco-pods and the Hoglett house, planning to go back next year
