On arrival we needed the toilet so that was our 1'st destination. Unfortunately one of the ladies toilets had been deliberately filled with toilet paper to the top and the showers were covered in black mould. The gents was not much better with small cubicles and the showers covered in black mould. The new shower block needs to be finished pronto as this was a very poor start. Going to our pitch we were told the overflowing bins would be emptied soon but we left after 4 days they had not been emptied and were even worse. Our pitch was one of the few with a lot of room which was great but some of our neighbours had very short pitches with no room front or back. The main problem was there appeared to be 2 families living on site with 5 small children who during the day they were allowed to roam every where , even going on to other pitches and into tents and vans and creating bad feeling. On the whole this could be a small pleasant site but needs improvements and TLC.
Facilities are very good and will be excellent when the new toilet block is up and running.
Great family site. Lovely outside bar and smashing cafe. Had everything and more.
We visited this site after the Easter holidays 2025. Site was excellent and inviting. We had travelled a couple of hundred miles in pouring rain by bike. We were glad to be able to dry out our wet gear and use the washer, drier & other amenities over the next week before we moved on down towards the middle of the country. Our main reason for visiting this area was to visit The Beamish Museum which was excellent, although you will need a couple of days to see it all.Kind regards. Ted & Linda.
Pitch we were put on no 2 was to small and to close together.Entrance was on a duel carriageway which wasn't good for entering or existing . Never saw the owner for two weeks we were there.
Good valve for money
We love caravanning at strawberry hill. Lousie and Adam are amazing and always make you feel welcome. Lovely little place , great facilities. Site and facilities always kept clean. Cafe is beautiful and the giddy up shack is the best Adam’s chilli cheese bites are to die for. See yous again soon
Adam and Louise were so welcoming on arrival. I was shown the best way to get to my plot as it was my first time with a caravan. The plot was spacious and easy to get set up on. This is my second visit and will be returning soon
A very secluded site very friendly always on hand to help..very clean shower and toilet facilities..
Great location about 10 minute drive outside of Durham. Great onsite facilities, especially the cafe/tea room.Only recommendation would be to have allocated parking spaces for each holiday home.
