Strawberry hill is a fabulous site to stay, we’ve camped with our tent in the past but on this occasion chose to book a caravan holiday home with my mam and sister. It was a great 2 night break. I did enquire if any bedding was needed and was told no. We were unsure about bedding for the pullout bed so took 2 sleeping bags and I’m so pleased we did as there was no bedding for the pullout bed. The caravan slept 6 and 5 people were stayed on the booking. However as regular campers we took our camper comforts such as camping chairs and essentials such as toilet roll, washing up liquid bit all that was provided
From arriving to leaving we were welcomed by staff. The place was lively and clean no rubbish lying around.will def be returning
There are lots of good things about this campsite and I can see the team are working hard on improvements. It looks like there will be a new toilet and shower block that isn’t quite open yet. The team are super friendly, the cafe is amazing, and the pitches are clean and spacious. The showers were cold which wasn’t a problem as it was a hot weekend. The road is dreadful and walking and waiting for a bus is scary. The local pubs are excellent.
Gsat place to see the durham area and Nortb East (the water park is excellent)
Lovely site with great facilities and friendly owners. The showers were hot and clean. Great food from the van!
This was our first camping trip as a family, we wanted somewhere quite close to home and after seeing this place recommended on other social media pages it looked perfect for what we wanted. Everything was straight forward upon arrival, staff were so friendly and approachable. Shower and toilet facilities were great, always clean and stocked up with toilet roll and hand wash. There was a wash area for dishes. The park was small but still kept my kids (10, 7 & 6) entertained for a good while! There was a pool table and table tennis outside the reception area. We got food and drinks from the snack bar, absolutely amazing! So tasty and very good value. The whole site is very well maintained and clean. During our visit we went into Durham using the park and ride, only a 10 minute drive away, but we knew there was also places such as Adventure Valley, Finchale priory, Ox Close farm, Tweddle Farm and even the beach all within half an hour drive. Would absolutely recommend and return!
The owners of the site are very nice people but the problem for us was the people on the site kids racing around on e scooters, playing football running around our caravan someone urinating by a tree and music till midnight I didn’t complain and should have looked at the reviews before booking
Enjoyable stay, the campsite is situated in a place suitable for visiting Durham, Beamish, Seaham etc. We hired a caravan which was comfortable, clean and well equipped. The advantage for us apart from being dog friendly is that it was bookable from any day of the week for any length of time. The owners/hosts were a lovely couple.
On arrival nearly got rear ended by three other vehicles due to entrance on a busy dual carriageway, the noise of which carries on all day and night, don't expect peace and quiet. Toilets and showers dirty and uncared for, rust and peeling paint on the fixtures and fittings, the shower trays were yellow and dirty from use and lack of care, sinks too small and close together, decided a strip wash in my van was the best bet.Hard standing not wide enough for van and consisted of a few scalpings on top of mud which easily got trodden into van. Dog walk should be renamed mountain goat walk due to the acute angle of the ground on which it sits, a figure of 8 mowed into a hillside and a full up poo bin does not make a dog walk. Booked 2 nights, left after one, only gave one star as there isn't a lower option. Far too expensive £20 a night is too much let alone £34 worst place I've ever stayed and I've stayed in a layby yards from an M1 Flyover. Avoid if you desire value for money.
This campsite has to be the worst one I've stayed on in over 40 years of camping billed as 4 star must be the owners friends who gave it that review .toilets disgusting showers in a disgusting state. billed as 4 star and fully refurbished don't think they've even seen a cleaning cloth let a lone a paint brush .the complete site feels run down dog walk only suitable for mountain goats.rules state no commercial vehicles half the units on site where vans no windows ( I personally have no problem with this have used them to camp myself but if you put it in the rules ) this site was so bad we paid and booked for 2 nights only stayed for 1
