Superb setting near the sea.

We have been visiting Smedmore for years now. I was pleased to find that it was much better kept and cared for with the new site manager. Sad that the dog walk in the field is no longer. Really pleased you can still use the private walk down to the cove. Best thing ever is that you can book the pitch you love if it’s available so no disappointment on arrival!

Very quiet and peaceful

Hardy, Pauline - 25/09/2024

The warden was extremely friendly and helpful. He told us about some very interesting walks. The site was so quiet that we slept very well. The Etches Museum in Kimmeridge is very worthwhile visiting. The only downside was the restaurant in Kimmeridge was very expensive.

Quiet, secluded spot near the coast

Wibrew, Neil - 22/09/2024

My wife and I arrived at Smedmore House knowing there were no facilities such as showers, toilets, laundry, entertainment etc. we wanted somewhere quiet away from the hustle and bustle to relax and unwind. There were electric hookup, water filling points and waste disposal on site.Smedmore House proved to be just the place, with limited phone connectivity and WI-FI at the time, we could detach ourselves from the day to day relax and unwind. The location is a little isolated (which sites is), the drive is through small Villages and lanes so can be tricky with a large caravan or motorhome. The grounds are stunning and beautifully kept by the warden, Guy, who was extremely friendly and helpful. The surrounding area is stunning, with lots to see and do, Kimmeridge bay is beautiful in the evening watching the sun set behind the jagged cliffs, and overlooking Portland. We would highly recommend Smedmore House for adults wishing to get away from it all. Ensure you check for we

A beautiful and peaceful site where views and scenery brings refreshment of the soul

Bax, Robert - 14/09/2024

Smedmore is a rural site which provides the basic needs for the people, who enjoy wonderful scenery and peaceful ambience. The Warden Glynn is very helpful and supportive. The Restaurant in Kimmeridge “Clavells” provides a wonderful menu range to get away from “home dining, and isa must to visit. The local farming and agricultural activity reminds you of the importance of the productive use of the land! There are great opportunities to use well identified footpaths and coastal paths, and take in the breath taking scenery. This is why we come back frequently 👍

CURATES EGG, GOOD IN PARTS

Vaughan, Peter - 13/09/2024

If you like simple rural sites you will probably like this one. Good choice of different pitches, many with lovely views towards the sea and generous size of pitch. Lovely walk to Kimmeridge Bay and coastal footpath. The site is a bit isolated, being several miles from a small village. On our last night there there was a very loud wedding reception that kept us awake till midnight. Also, a very heavy branch fell from one of the pine trees and narrowly missed our neighbour's car and caravan. If it had landed on anyone I hate to think what would have happened to them. The trees generally looked in sound condition, but I would not park under them again if I ever return.
