Very peaceful campsite . Only slight problem could not get access to wi Fi..
On arrival someone was in our booked pitch of 39. They did move but commented correctly that there was no list of available pitches. There is a notice saying look at a list on the office window but there was no notice. The site seems to have deteriorated over recent years.
My partner and I had a lovely time at Smedmore, the site was well looked after and offered super views. We were pleased to have booked a fairly level pitch since some were on a very steep gradient beyond the scope of normal levelling blocks. Making the booking had to be done on-line, a tedious protracted process, as the telephone repeatedly received no response, in fact we did not see anybody in reception at all during the stay.We were not familiar with the area and found it to be very special, quite stunning in fact and hope to be back for a longer stay next year.
A general air of neglect. No contact with any site staff during the 12 days of our stay. No reply to telephone calls to the site telephone number.
Pitch relatively level (fine with ramps). Water and bins well maintained. We took our grey water away as there was no where for a motorhome to dump it!
Out of the way place very narrow lanes could do with a tidy up
The campsite is in a beautiful part of Dorset and is a well maintained site. Thank you
This site is in a great location with lovely views over the rolling countryside down to the sea. The permissive walk to the coast is a real bonus. My only comment would be a site map posted at the office so anyone arriving when there is no one around knows where their pitch is!
We loved this campsite for the views, walks and no frills approach. However we do feel it would benefit from some showers and toilets. Otherwise we were very happy with it
