As you turn through the gates at Skelwith Fold the magical red road, winding to the park reception, is canopied by trees and bordered by woodland where you’ll likely catch a glimpse of resident wildlife, such as roe deer, woodpeckers, and if you’re lucky, even a red squirrel.

Skelwith Fold's 120 touring pitches for Caravan and Motorhome holidays are scattered throughout a 130-acre woodland site, offering guests the opportunity to cohabit with wildlife, woodland, wetland and fell habitats found within the caravan sites boundaries.

The park offer self-contained Hideaways which are located in one of the park’s quietest and most wildlife-friendly spots. For those wanting a unique couples getaway, the Hideaways provide the perfect retreat for a few days.

Although Skelwith Fold houses over 400 pitches it has the feel of a much smaller park – the various accommodation areas have been carefully and sympathetically set out in small woodland glades, settled amongst natural undulating features, creating a sense of quiet and intimacy.

Absolutely love this site. We stayed on a premium pitch which is well worth the money. The washrooms are immaculate and we loved the underfloor heating. The dishwasher in the washing up area is a bit of a treat too.Great size pitches and the location of the site is wonderful. We walked into Ambleside for the firework display, approx 30 minutes. We will definately return.

On arrival we were invited to choose a pitch and then let them know. All the staff were very friendly throughout our stay. The pitches were a good size and hard standing. You’re always near the trees so we were fortunate to hear owls every night. On one evening we had a really clear dark sky so good for star watching. I’ts a 45 minute walk to Ambleside. Chesters is nearer but has a steep hill. There’s a bus right outside camp to Hawkeshead and Coniston. Other buses nearby do all major towns and villages. The shower block was warm and very clean and the only negative is that the showers are push button, so on/off/on/off. There are rules about how to pitch, which are generally enforced. Having seen on other sites how some people selfishly park up I’m glad they do this. It’s a big site, and will be very busy in peak season, but it’s one definitely worth visiting.

An excellent place to stay, with lovely facilities and friendly team members. Surrounded by trees, this quiet site is the perfect place to relax and unwind. Our pitch was spacious.
