We have stayed many rimes at Sacrewell, recommended to many and brought many new friends with us. As usual Dave was super nice and helpful. It's great knowing he's always on hand for any issues. However, this year we had one huge disappointment. 2 of the children in our party suffer with sensory issues and the drama that insued when they took off their wrist bands was unbelievable!! The lady on the desk was unhelpful and rude. Having visited the site 8-10 times, I'm not going to read the ts and Cs. The staff handed us a piece of paper to sign and clearly saw we didn't read anything. They then tried to charge full price e try to 2 children for the whole wknd. We had pre booked so they could see we had paid. The older boy was distraught at all this being his fault and it ruined his whole morning. I realise you need to avoid people sharing wrist bands but the whole situation was not dealt with by staff (manager lady was more reasonable) and was utterly avoidable.
We had a nice stay at the farm and it just about had what it needed, but there were things that definitely could have been improved. Firstly there is a gift shop, but it sells nothing that could help you with camping.... such as washing up liquid or simple basic needs like this. The farm itself shuts very early and we found this to be frustrating it definitely would be good for everyone to keep it open until at least 6pm. I wasnt exactly sure if I was washing up in the right place as it was in the open next to the car park for daytime visitors to the farm and had no clear signs. My biggest moan is that the toilets were cleaned really well in the evening but no wet floor signs were out. On the second night I slipped on the wet floor because I didn't know it was wet and hurt my back which meant I was in pain for the following days and still isn't right almost a week later. I did complain but it was too late
Camping site was average, the facilities were quite far away from the camping as they are located at the main reception building, the only facilities close are a washing up station (with unreliable hot water) and two cute but poorly functioning showers in sheds. They are not fit for use as the shower heads are non-movable and the spray flies outside of the shower and past the ineffectual curtain onto all of the things you are trying to keep dry. Also, you will be seen by day visitors - less than ideal. The main showers at the reception building were better, but very dirty and no protective shower mat - more of a wet-room effect. Fireplace and patio was a lovely touch and the electric hook-up was working and close. To top it off, the cafe was not ready at the time it said it would open for breakfast (9 am) and took about 40 minutes to get 2 plates of full English wrong and served apart.Better as a day-visit for the farm, water mill, grounds, and amazing play area than a campsite.
All facilities were in very good, clean condition however ground had many big holes which was quite dangerous on the ankles - especially in the dark! Also, the sink and showers are located right by the entrance to the farm so very odd situation in the morning interacting with daily farm visitors whilst doing your washing up or looking a bit dishevelled prior to your morning shower! We stayed over October half term and on going into the farm was told some areas were Halloween booked events only. We had already spent a considerable amount on camping and farm access so this was very disappointing. Especially the fact we wasn't advised at time of booking.Overall farm was lovely and campsite was particularly quiet and we were left to enjoy. It was also ideal having the extra play area to keep the children occupied when around the campsite.
Thank you for sharing your feedback! We're glad you enjoyed the peacefulness of the campsite and the clean facilities. Sorry to hear about the ground conditions; I'll be sure to pass this feedback on to our management team.We apologise for any inconvenience caused by restricted access to Halloween event areas. We’ll review our booking process to ensure clearer communication about seasonal events to enhance guest experiences. Thanks again for your valuable input, and we look hope to welcome you back in the future! ??
Great campsite. Only downside were the number of rabbit holes and the showers. The shower I used had very little pressure and the drain was blocked, but it was hot so can't complain too much. There are 3 other showers which I didn't use which were probably fine! The rabbit scrapes and holes were interesting in the dark even with a torch.
Thank you for your feedback! We're delighted that you enjoyed the campsite. We appreciate you bringing the shower pressure and drainage issue to our attention - we'll look into this to ensure a better experience for future guests. We hope to welcome you back again :)

Great for families, dog walkers or anyone visiting the area. We have been several years running whilst attending Burghley horse trials. Well kept campsite with good facilities and friendly accommodating warden. Great access from A1 and in to Burghley

It's great to know that our facilities, friendly service, and convenient location made your visits even more enjoyable. We look forward to welcoming you back :)
Easy booking process, a friendly welcome, well kept level pitches. Super dark sky at night, peaceful and quiet. Excellent.
Thank you for your wonderful review! We're delighted to hear that you had a smooth booking experience and enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere, level pitches, and the beauty of the dark night sky. We hope to welcome you back soon!
The only thing is we're you leave the leftover sand . I would do a sand pit on the inside of the fence as the kids love playing in it and the cost would be just a bit of time.
Hi Ian,Thank you for taking the time to leave us feedback.Unfortunately as this sandy area is so close to the road we wouldn't advise for children to play in here.
Excellent place to stay with kids. Lots to do abs lovely setting. Camp shop would be appreciated and some more options on the cafe menu. We will be back!
Thank you for your feedback! We're so glad you enjoyed the farm, playgrounds, soft play, and activities. We appreciate your comments about the main building and café. We're always looking for ways to improve, so I'll be sure to pass this onto our Management Team.Your thoughts on extended hours and the idea of a camp shop are also helpful, and we'll take them into account. Thanks again for taking the time to share your thoughts :)
