Rowbury Farm Camping

4.7 (92 reviews)

Rowbury Farm Camping is a family-run campsite on a working farm in the heart of Hampshire. The site is very quiet with exceptionally large pitches separated by strips of wildflowers and has views over Danebury Iron-age hillfort. There really is something for everyone in the Test Valley, whether it's cycling, walking, paddling in rivers or visiting pretty village pubs.

The Site

Rowbury farm Camping is a family-run campsite on a working farm in the heart of Hampshire. We have great views of the surrounding downland including Danebury hillfort. We aim to create a tranquil laid-back ambiance with 45 big pitches on 11 acres, separated by swathes of wildflowers. There are plenty of great places to walk and cycle and we are close to some beautiful Test Valley villages.

Facilities

We have a block of toilets and showers in purpose-built units, which are of good quality and provided with hot water. The men’s block is a shared facility with 2 showers, 2 toilets and some urinals. We have a large family unit with a shower and toilet; this has plenty of space for joint use with children. For the ladies there are two single-occupancy shower-toilet units and a separate toilet. We have a washing up area with 2 large twin-basin stands. We do not have fridges or charging facilities on site, but we do have a freezer for recharging cold packs.

Walking and Cycling

Test valley is riddled with public footpaths, permissive bridleways, and way-marked routes. The Test Way can be as hilly or as flat as you like (here it runs along an old railway line) and the River Anton Way runs 10 miles from the Mayfly pub all the way into Andover. Just down the valley at Chilbolton you can explore the downland nature reserve at West Down or potter in Chilbolton Cow Common on the banks of the River Test. Stockbridge watermeadows is also great for an easy ramble with kids and dogs and there are plenty of places for an ice cream or a cuppa in Stockbridge.

The 246 National cycle route is within a few metres of our gate and we are close to the King Alfred’s Way Long Distance Cycling route. May cyclists use us as a stopping point on all sorts of long distance trips - Bristol to Singapore probably takes the biscuit.

Historic Test Valley

From the campsite you can see Danebury Hill Fort which, as well as being an amazing viewpoint, has had extensive archaeological excavation. You can peruse some of the findings at Andover’s Iron Age Museum. Mottisfont Abbey is a magnificent National Trust property about 10 miles away down the Test Valley and makes an excellent (not too challenging) cycle ride.

The Army Air Flying Corp Museum is close by at Wallop. It is packed with historic planes and flying related memorabilia and is definitely worth a visit.

If you fancy a stroll through medieval streets, do some shopping and enjoy a coffee then Salisbury and Winchester are within 30 minutes drive.

Great one-night stay

Ashby, Malcolm - 11/05/2026

We booked one night as we were travelling back from Devon and had a night out in Basingstoke the following evening. And, wow, what a gem! We arrived slightly later than we had planned and the owners were taking a night off, no problem, we just chose a pitch and settled in. Although next to a minor but busy-ish road the site was very quiet, it was well kept, the grass was short but due to be cut again the next day. The showers and toilets were excellent, very clean and the washing up area was also very good. The owners were very friendly and helpful and Becky even opened up the coffee wagon for us and the other guests on what for them was quite a quiet day. All in all we found Rowbury Farm Campsite to be excellent and we will be back!

A wonderful peaceful retreat

Cannot fault, thank you Becki and your Dad for being so welcoming. The site is gorgeous, flat and I love how the wildlife is so respected in that the field is only mowded for lanes and pitches. The rest is wild. Love the recycling ethics and clean, good quality facilities too. A perfect stop just off the A303, I'll be back!

And breathe .......

Fabulously quiet site (although the vineyard spraying overnight was a problem this time, and a very unusual occurance). We arrived on Friday and didn't leave the site until Sunday. 4 older adults and a dog all needing a break from the storm of life, we sat on the field, listened to the birds, chatted, cooked, ate and reset ready for the world again later on Sunday.Thank you so much for a lovely time. The toilets, showers, wash up area all very clean and in good order. The little cafe wagon was a great addition to the site and the cappucinos and hot chocolates very much appreciated.Would recommend except I want it to be our little secret, so come if you must but be considerate of your fellow campers!
