Rowbury Farm Camping

4.6 (68 reviews)

Rowbury Farm Camping is a family-run campsite on a working farm in the heart of Hampshire. The site is very quiet with exceptionally large pitches separated by strips of wildflowers and has views over Danebury Iron-age hillfort. There really is something for everyone in the Test Valley, whether it's cycling, walking, paddling in rivers or visiting pretty village pubs.

The Site

Rowbury farm Camping is a family-run campsite on a working farm in the heart of Hampshire. We have great views of the surrounding downland including Danebury hillfort. We aim to create a tranquil laid-back ambiance with 45 big pitches on 11 acres, separated by swathes of wildflowers. There are plenty of great places to walk and cycle and we are close to some beautiful Test Valley villages.

Facilities

We have a block of toilets and showers in purpose-built units, which are of good quality and provided with hot water. The men’s block is a shared facility with 2 showers, 2 toilets and some urinals. We have a large family unit with a shower and toilet; this has plenty of space for joint use with children. For the ladies there are two single-occupancy shower-toilet units and a separate toilet. We have a washing up area with 2 large twin-basin stands. We do not have fridges or charging facilities on site, but we do have a freezer for recharging cold packs.

Walking and Cycling

Test valley is riddled with public footpaths, permissive bridleways, and way-marked routes. The Test Way can be as hilly or as flat as you like (here it runs along an old railway line) and the River Anton Way runs 10 miles from the Mayfly pub all the way into Andover. Just down the valley at Chilbolton you can explore the downland nature reserve at West Down or potter in Chilbolton Cow Common on the banks of the River Test. Stockbridge watermeadows is also great for an easy ramble with kids and dogs and there are plenty of places for an ice cream or a cuppa in Stockbridge.

The 246 National cycle route is within a few metres of our gate and we are close to the King Alfred’s Way Long Distance Cycling route. May cyclists use us as a stopping point on all sorts of long distance trips - Bristol to Singapore probably takes the biscuit.

Historic Test Valley

From the campsite you can see Danebury Hill Fort which, as well as being an amazing viewpoint, has had extensive archaeological excavation. You can peruse some of the findings at Andover’s Iron Age Museum. Mottisfont Abbey is a magnificent National Trust property about 10 miles away down the Test Valley and makes an excellent (not too challenging) cycle ride.

The Army Air Flying Corp Museum is close by at Wallop. It is packed with historic planes and flying related memorabilia and is definitely worth a visit.

If you fancy a stroll through medieval streets, do some shopping and enjoy a coffee then Salisbury and Winchester are within 30 minutes drive.

Really lovely camp site. Facilities were always clean and available. Sites were large and easy to check in. Got a group of 7 tents all together and the children had a blast running around and it always felt safe.

Rowbury is a lovely place to camp and this was our third stay. There is plenty of room on each pitch and they are separated by wildflowers. It is really calm and quiet. Perfectly nice, clean facilities and fab that there are fire pits and logs on site

Lovely clean, tidy and relaxed site. Pitches are a great size and we loved the wild flower patches to separate each pitch. Facilities are basic but always immaculately clean. Claire was very friendly and helpful.

Value for money

Wong, Steven - 12/07/2024

Unlike other campsites, their rates is very reasonable. Pitchup website charges almost double so I would advice to book directly with Rowbury Website. I can see the shower facilities were upgraded from my previous visit. Im also impressed with their overall cleanliness. Pitches locations are well thought out too with consideration for wildlife.

Beautiful, peaceful, spacious. Loved this campsite and would definitely return. The only downside is the amenity block - perfectly servicable but not as refined as some other places we have stayed.

Beautiful peaceful site

Our second trip to Rowbury farm did not disappoint! The pitches are huge and surrounded by wildflowers, the site is in a really peaceful location but an easy trip to good local pubs and village shop. Being able to have an off ground fire really rounds out the experience, and my dog loved his visit too.

We stayed here unexpectedly due to having to return home early from another camping holiday and we were both really happy that we did.It is a lovely and well run site with a very welcoming vibe.Claire made us feel very welcome and we both enjoyed having a chat with her on site.We are only down the road in West Tytherley (9 miles) but are already planning on when we are coming back.If you want a nice chilled pet friendly campsite, in a lovely location, Rowbury Farm Camping is the site for you.We both loved our day and our dogs did too.

Great site with simple clean facilities and friendly manager. Loved the fire pit and honesty box to pay for logs but not everyone is honest about the amount of logs in their bag ! Great pub in Goodworth Clatford about 1.5m away. Also could be better at recycling rubbish.
