Rother Valley Camping and Caravan Park is situated on the outskirts of Northiam on the East Sussex and Kent border. Providing a secluded and safe environment, this park is surrounded by beautiful open countryside yet remains close to the local amenities and attractions.
On Park, we can cater for caravans, tourers and motorhomes of all sizes with or without electric hook-up. We also of course welcome campers … and dogs are welcome too!
Try something a little different? We have two fantastic luxury Glamping Pods. These new pods offer a unique camping experience accommodating two in a double pod and four in a 2 double bed pod. Each pod has comfortable double beds, microwave oven, kettle and utensils/crockery. Bring your own bedding.
Our new Bell Tents are fully equipped and ready for you to start your holiday immediately. Each Bell Tent accommodates up to 4 people so are ideal for families and small groups and is equipped with a gas hob stove and kettle, Utensils & crockery, two camp lights, water carrier and cool box (swap service of cool blocks). Just outside is your very own picnic table/bench and coal fired BBQ.
We have spacious pitches around the perimeter of our large main camping field and additional secluded alcove pitches in our wooded area. We leave the large meadow in the middle of the camping field empty so there is room for children and families to relax and play. There is an area of woodland with little dens for the children to explore and a woodland walk suitable for dogs.
The small children’s play area is in the main field with swings, slide, tower and sand table. Picnic tables are situated where you can take advantage of the beautiful views over the Rother Valley and watch the quaint steam trains chug past.
There is much to do in the local area with so many pretty villages, historic houses, beautiful gardens, award winning sandy and shingle beaches plus shopping, pubs and restaurants.
Stroll around Rye Harbour, take a boat trip along River Rother or journey back in time on the nostalgic Kent & Sussex Steam Railway.
The small Kentish town of Tenterden with it’s wide tree lined high street and fantastic selection of independent shops, pubs and restaurants is a 10 minute drive. The fabulous Camber Sands with its award winning sand dune backed beach is a 15 minute drive and the seaside towns of Hastings, Eastbourne and Bexhill-on-Sea are easily accessible.
Finally, return back to Rother Valley Park and round off your evening with a campfire on your pitch, using one of our firepits.
Medieval castles, beautiful towns and gorgeous beaches… it’s all just on our doorstep!

This was our first camping trip so we stayed at a local site. Alan was very friendly and as it was our first time was happy for us to take our time packing up on the last day.The EHU pitches are good, the facilities although small, were adequate and clean.Having the open space in the field for the kids to run around is a bonus and the only suggestion we had was that the children’s play area looked tired and could do with some TLC.We will definitely go back next year! And would recommend.
Check-in easy, would have been nice to have a leaflet with map detailing site plan and useful information and emergency telephone numbers. No internet you have to sign and pay.No security no barrier Great play areas for children and families.Few single sex and mixed couples camping although they were quiet. We had 2 cars parked right next to our motorhome belonging to the family next to us, fire risk.We felt hemmed in there was no 6 meter gap between pitches Excellent clean showers and toilets. But we enjoyed ourselves and went on the train to Bodium and Rye.
Brilliant clean and always an enjoyable stay. My only criticism is play park could do with a bit of a face lift 😉
The campsite is lovely, offering plenty of room and excellent facilities. It’s by the steam railway that runs by daily and only a short walk away to take a trip on. The couple that manage and run the site are brilliant and can’t do enough for you. Been here many times and will definitely stay again.
We were only booked in for an overnight stop as we were trying out a Motorhome for the very first time. The camp site was excellent and everything was easily found and understood by novices like us. The surroundings were lovely and all the facilities were spotless. It met our every need.
Nice staff, clean site, safe site. River across road and steam train are great
Great site in an easily assessable location. Generous pitches and very friendly staff. Site facilities were clean and well maintained.
Have stayed here a few times and it's ways brilliant. Facilities are being cleaned in the middle of the night, nothing is too much trouble.Great location, love the fact the field is in the middle. Will be back next year
The campsite is decent. It has some lovely views and the tent pitches were very generous in size. Loved the use of the firepit and generous host offered a BBQ free of charge to use during our stay. So generous! The bathrooms were basic and clean, but there were only two showers for the whole site and they were water saving showers, so you had to continually press the nozzle while in the shower which was very irritating. Additionally, the bathrooms missed essential touches such as a place to put a toiletry bag while using the sinks, and benches to places items on in the showers. The taps were supposed to be water saving ones but were malfunctioning and would waste copious amounts of water as they took forever to switch off.The site we were on had no shade at all which made it almost unbearable in the heat. Overall, a decent campsite but wouldn't necessarily be my first choice to return to.
We stayed for a couple of nights and had a great time. The pitches are well spaced out around the field with plenty of open space for the kids to play. There's a great viewing area to watch the heritage trains pass by and the kids area keeps them entertained. The facilities are well looked after. The staff are friendly and everything was easy throughout our stay.
