The hardstanding pitch was great and the site was neat. However, the shower block was very dated and unkempt. The showers lacked any pressure and you had to keep pressing the button to keep the shower running as it would time out in less than a minute... very annoying. There were no washing facilities for washing clothes.
We stayed for a week in a static caravan on the site. The caravan was clean and tidy, perfect for our needs. To get into the Holiday Park you have to drive through Red Deer Village Residential Park which was a little confusing but the directions from the office were perfect and we found our way through easily. Remember to make a note of the gate code as that is locked at 8pm.Staff were very friendly and helped me with a couple of queries before we travelled and check in was nice and easy. Stepps Railway Station is only a 5 minute drive or a 20 minute walk and the train gets you to Glasgow city centre in about 15 minutes. If driving, there are 2 free car parks - top tip: park in the one over the bridge as this is the side you get off when coming back from Glasgow. If we come back to Glasgow I would definitely consider staying here again.
It was very convenient for the city. The campsite was quiet and well maintained. The facilities were clean and well stocked.
If you are wanting to visit Glasgow this site has good public transport links … 10 minute walk to Stepps station and 3 stops on the train to Glasgow. There are 2 areas for campers, one is quite pleasant hard standing surrounded by grass. The other which we stayed on is a gravelled circle of pitches with electric hook up…. Inappropriately called the bottom field. Functional yes but not somewhere you would want to sit out and relax. Toilet / shower facilities are ok. Check in was remote with pitch pre allocated and communication by email … felt soulless and at £85 per night the most expensive campsite we have stayed on … appreciate the prices were hiked due to it being the commonwealth games but still not worth the money
Site was amazing. Possibly best facilities we've experienced at a campsite and a great view of the setting sun from up high.
The accommodation we were given was not the accommodation we booked. The alternative was outdated, smelt damp and seriously in need of refurbishment. We were told it was comparable but it wasn’t. We booked two double bedrooms one with en suite. The one we were given had one toilet, a shower , a double bedroom and a twin room fit only for children. We asked to look at the original one which apparently had an issue with the cooker ignition. It was superior to the one we were given but no attempt was made to rectify the situation even though we said we were not happy.I emailed a complaint after returning home and am still waiting for a satisfactory response. All in all very disappointing from Red Deer. I can’t really comment on the site because we were out all day both days and saw very little of it. It was a peaceful location and fairly easy walk to the train station for access to Glasgow, however, overpriced and substandard accommodation.
Easily accessible site. Beautifully maintained. Facilities clean and in good order. Staff friendly and helpful for local knowledge.Lovely walk from site through woods and around university campus then onto Wallace monument
We thought the sight was very nice but £80 per night was far too expensive and the most we’ve ever paid for a campsite. We assume it was because of the Commonwealth games, but certainly wouldn’t have paid that under normal circumstances.
Very well maintained park and friendly staff
We spent 3 nights tent camping on a grass pitch for the Commonwealth Games . Clean toilet facilities , showers, washing up and very quiet at night. Staff communicated well via email. Easy walk/ cycle to Stepps train station into Glasgow city centre. As a tent camper we could have just done with a plug somewhere on the site to charge our phones and maybe a fridge/ indoor cook area . The site mainly has static caravans/ bungalows and caravans with just 8 pitches for tents. The price was very high for a small tent £45 with no extra facilities for tent campers but I assume it was because of the Commonwealth Games. . We enjoyed our stay .
