Nestled in the Eden Valley surrounded by rolling countryside Pennine View Park is perfectly placed for walking, cycling and simply relaxing. We are a family-run caravan and camp site on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, a mile from the centre of the historic market town of Kirkby Stephen and are only a short drive from both the Lake District National Park and the North Pennines, meaning that there are lots of walks and cycle routes nearby catering for all tastes.
We accommodate tents, touring caravans, campervans and motorhomes and have a secluded camping field which is perfectly flat, surrounded by lush green hedges and within easy reach of the facilities with electrical hook ups available. We have a range of pitches including full gravel hard standing, half gravel/half grass pitches and full grass pitches, all of which can accommodate your caravan, motorhome or campervan and offer electrical hook ups. Our on site facilities include spacious modern washrooms with mirrors, hair dryers and baby changing facilities, a large disabled room which doubles up as a family cubicle, laundry room with washing machine, tumble dryer, iron, ironing board and spin dryer and ice pack freezing facilities. We have a small shop in reception selling essentials to keep you well stocked up and WiFi is freely available on site.
Children and dogs are more than welcome here at Pennine View and we provide a children's play area complete with a swing, climbing frame and slide. For the pups, there are multiple walks available directly off site and we ask that while on site, they are kept on a lead. You won't be stuck for eateries with an abundance of pubs and restaurants available all within a short distance from the park such as The Black Bull, The Pennine Hotel, The Kings Arms, Nateby Inn and much much more! As well as the opportunities for walks, hikes and bike rides in the local area, there are many interesting tourist attractions to fill up your days before heading back to base for a good nights rest.
For the culture vultures and history fans, there are heaps of castles and ruins nearby just waiting to be explored. Appleby Castle, Brough Castle, Pendragon Castle and Lammerside Castle just to name a few! Stainmore Railway Company have developed their disused station into a fabulous Heritage Centre and operational railway which allows visitors to come and have a nosey at the weekends. For more active excursions, try a bit of paragliding over our local fells or hire a bike in Kirkby Stephen to enjoy the scenery on 2 wheels.
For a more glamourous camping experience, why not try out our beautiful bell tents and mountain pods!
Our level gravel pitches are suitable for caravans, motorhomes and campervans, they all accommodate car, van and awning and include electric hook up.

Beautifully managed camp site. Great facilities which were kept spotlessly clean. Location was central to what we wanted and very accessible. We particularly liked the quietness of the site and its campers kitchen and the layout of site. Also the pitch allocated to us was perfect for our tent.
The site is great, & ideal for walking. Our only problem was the pitch. As there is no grass area the kids play football near the bar. Our pitch was right next to that area. On our 1st day the kick about started @ 4pm and I put a stop to it at 9:45. Will use the site again, but not pitch 55.
A lovely little site , not too big with enough facilities for a lovely break . The shower blocks are always kept clean and tidy and there is a lovely deep sink to bath babies in . It was ideal for a 3 year old who doesn't like a shower. There is a small park with swings and slides , it was big enough to keep the little ones happy . A nice bar and takeaway with lots of seating , and decent size pitches . If you fancy a walk , it is easy enough to get into the village , and there is a lovely woodland walk too . At the bottom of the park is the river Eden , again , a lovely little stroll . You are not isolated at all here . Everything is walkable if you choose not to drive. Nice and safe too for families , with barrier access . We were in pitch20 ,next to the play park , which was ideal to keep an eye on a small person . We will return .
Only negative, is the showers - scalding hot & difficult to operate, although I think the site owners are aware of this, & are addressing the issue.Nice walks in surrounding area, and lovely little town with good selection of shops & eateries.
Visiting the site for over 30 years and you could say we are happy to continue.
Enjoyed a very well run site.
This was our first visit to Pennine View. We booked 6 nights prior to the May Springbank Holiday. It was quite busy with families when we arrived on the Saturday, but pretty much turned into an adults only site on the Sunday as the famillies left. Very clean and well kept site with friendly staff. Our pitch only had electric hook up. Not sure if fully serviced pitches are available elsewhere on the site.. There was an easy accessible fresh water tap and grey water disposal close to our pitch so no problem. The main toilet block is slightly dated but clean and functional. I have seen much worse on other sites. There were notices explaining their extensive upgrade plans which should be completed during 2023/2024 winter season. The Engine Shed is the Jewel of this site. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, with bar and food on offer was a bonus. We ate their twice and food was good.Overall if you do not have kids and want a quiet site then ensure you go out of school holidays.
EXCELLENT SITE OVERALL - PARTICULARLY THE ENGINE SHED WHICH WAS FANTASTIC. THERE ARE CLEARLY PLANS TO IMPROVE THE TOILET/SHOWER BLOCK WHICH IS I FEEL NEEDED BUT APART FROM THAT IT WAS ONE OF THE BEST PLACES WE HAVE STAYED IN A FANTASTIC POSITION TO THE TOWN AND ROAD NETWORK.
The site is very well laid out, but unfortunately the male and female showers let it down. There are only two showers and a disabled shower, and they definitely need upgrading.
Stayed here when walking coast to coast, excellent facilities
