Set in well-maintained lawns with tarred roads, Lighthouse Leisure is less than a 2 minute walk from the beach and the historic Southerness Lighthouse.
On site we have an adventure playground and leisure complex offering plenty of fun and relaxation for all the family. The park has been in operation for nearly 50 years and being family owned, has built up a well-established warm and friendly atmosphere.
In addition to our 8 month camping pitches, we also operate as a child friendly park and have a fantastic outdoor play area for our younger guests to enjoy. Our touring area is suitable for tents/tourers/motorhomes and have an adjacent modernised toilet and shower facility.
As an ideal opportunity to enjoy the freedom of self-catering, guests can also relax in the comfort and luxury of our holiday caravans. We offer 2/3 bedroom Comfort Plus grade vans and 2/3 bedroom Comfort Pet Friendly caravans with double glazing and central heating.
All caravans have showers. Linen is provided but we ask that you supply your own towels. Cots and highchairs are available to hire. All gas and electric is included in the price.
Onsite, guests can avail of our quality Leisure Centre facility with its own swimming pool, coffee shop, entertainment room, bar, and separate bar for adults only. Immediately adjacent the Park is a fully stocked shop and a regular bus service from the village to Dumfries and intermediate villages.
Off site, there is a host of activities and past times for guests to enjoy. The park is situated next to the championship Southerness Golf Club and there are seven other courses of varying size within a 15 mile radius of Southerness. For those with an interest in angling, sea fishing is available along the coast and a selection of Loch and river fishing inland.
This area also offers several top quality cycling routes within just a 15 minute drive, and has many other cycle routes/paths in the surrounding area. With our prime location, we are also fortunate to have many coastal and forest walks in the surrounding area.
As a perfect day out for the whole family, Dumfries is a short 20 minute drive away where there is the Ice Bowl, Museum and Camera Obscura, the Aviation Museum, Robert Burns Centre, Caerlaveroch Castle, Britain’s only triangular castle and of course the many high street shops. Drumlanrig Caste and Country Park is just 18 miles North of Dumfries and offers something for all the family with an outstanding adventure play park, castle tours, craft workshop, cycle hire, walks and trails.
Less than an hour’s drive away is the world famous Blacksmith’s shop at Gretna Green where romantic runaway marriages were forged in past times. Also Gretna Gateway Outlet Village with around 50 stores and 5 cafes.
Our small touring area has a number of grass standing pitches, all with a 16amp electric hook-up and close to all amenities.
*If you are booking a pitch for a tent which is more than 5m long, please contact the office on +44 (0) 1387 880277 to check if a suitable sized pitch is available.

Lovely caravan and well equipped. Amenities to hand are very good for children and adults alike. Staff are all very pleasant and friendly. Great base to go out and about from. Didn't use the bus but there is a route from the camp to Dumfries. There's a handy mini mart at the camp. Dogs are welcomed at the three pubs on and around the site.
Lovely caravan. Quiet location which suited us. Close to beach and nearby hotel which does great food. Will definitely be returning
Great cooking facilities, absolutely spotless on arrival. Friendly and efficient staff. A thoroughly enjoyable stay from start to finish and would recommend to anyone.
Thank you for your review, we are happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay. See you next time
Situated in lovely location. Site very well managed, clean and tidy. Only used the mini market, did not require children’s entertainment.
A nice clean caravan but no welcoming bits and bobs at all. Not one ornament. Disappointed there was no toaster as we usually have toast every night. Tried the grill but not the same. Another problem was there was no towels. We have done caravans from the Sun for years and always got towels. We had to buy one to use. Fortunately we took our own dish towels. There was also no brush or vacum. We couldn’t sweep the floor as all there was was a little hand brush and shovel. As we are both pensioners we were unable to go o our hand and knees to clean. Apart from all this we enjoyed our few days there as there was lots to do. The pub just five minutes away was very welcoming for our dog.
Thank you for your review. We will pass your suggestions to management about brush to change it for one with long handle. Regarding towels and tea towels, all our staff when customers contacting with us to confirm the booking explaining that we not supply them. I'm so sorry that you wasn't informed about that.
A lovely site, tucked out of the way in Southerness. Couple of pubs, shop, chip shop, small amusement arcade and the beach. What more do you need. The site is clean and tidy, staff friendly and helpful. We had the dog with us, so the van was a little older, but again very clean. The mattress in the main bedroom was hotel standard, so comfy. We would definitely recommend it 👍

Our break was from 2nd June to 6th June. Arrived early reception took mobile to let us know when caravan 171 was ready. Once in caravan time to check what utensils etc we had for preparation of meals. 1 bread knife which was blunt, No other sharp knives, No chopping board, a non stick frying pan with metal spatula, only 2 pans, No jug.Accommodation was ok for the cost, site shop had very little stock, Amusement closed on the Thursday.Local pubs where ok & very welcoming
We visited Lighthouse Leisure with our dog to take advantage of the fabulous walks in the area. We were impressed with the quality of the caravan and the WiFi being included was a very welcome and unexpected addition. The park is a little out of the way which meant it wasn't overly busy and the beach, a 5 minute walk away was beautiful. We didn't use many amenities but all the employees we encountered were very welcoming. The chippy on site was fabulous. It's about 30 minutes drive to the bigger supermarkets in Dumfries and the walks are well signposted with stunning views. We didn't want to leave.
Thank you for lovely review, great to hear that you enjoyed your stay. See you next time
Lighthouse Leisure is a lovely site right on the coast at Southerness. Everything is easily accessible from the site. If you have mobility problems it's all on the flat. The caravan was a pet friendly and was very clean and comfortable and had everything you need. The staff at Lighthouse Leisure were all lovely and friendly and the caravan was ready early. The Mermaid pub and entertainment centre was great and had entertainment on all weekend. Lots for children too.We visited the 19th Hole as well and had meals at the Paul Jones Hotel and JJ's Fish and Chip shop which are all a short walk from the site. Great value for money too. Would definately recommend.
Thank you for lovely review, great to hear that you enjoyed your stay. See you next time
Quiet site. Clean accommodation. We would have preferred a full size fridge/freezer especially for 7 night stay but that’s the layout of the caravan. A toaster and a few more pans etc would’ve been a welcome addition. Overall a very good stay.
Thank you for lovely review. Regarding your suggestion about fridge and freezer, some of our caravans have got full size of them. We can suggest to contact with us and check for next time.
