Set in well-maintained lawns with tarred roads, Lighthouse Leisure is less than a 2 minute walk from the beach and the historic Southerness Lighthouse.

On site we have an adventure playground and leisure complex offering plenty of fun and relaxation for all the family. The park has been in operation for nearly 50 years and being family owned, has built up a well-established warm and friendly atmosphere.

In addition to our 8 month camping pitches, we also operate as a child friendly park and have a fantastic outdoor play area for our younger guests to enjoy. Our touring area is suitable for tents/tourers/motorhomes and have an adjacent modernised toilet and shower facility.

As an ideal opportunity to enjoy the freedom of self-catering, guests can also relax in the comfort and luxury of our holiday caravans. We offer 2/3 bedroom Comfort Plus grade vans and 2/3 bedroom Comfort Pet Friendly caravans with double glazing and central heating.

All caravans have showers. Linen is provided but we ask that you supply your own towels. Cots and highchairs are available to hire. All gas and electric is included in the price.

Onsite, guests can avail of our quality Leisure Centre facility with its own swimming pool, coffee shop, entertainment room, bar, and separate bar for adults only. Immediately adjacent the Park is a fully stocked shop and a regular bus service from the village to Dumfries and intermediate villages.

Off site, there is a host of activities and past times for guests to enjoy. The park is situated next to the championship Southerness Golf Club and there are seven other courses of varying size within a 15 mile radius of Southerness. For those with an interest in angling, sea fishing is available along the coast and a selection of Loch and river fishing inland.

This area also offers several top quality cycling routes within just a 15 minute drive, and has many other cycle routes/paths in the surrounding area. With our prime location, we are also fortunate to have many coastal and forest walks in the surrounding area.

As a perfect day out for the whole family, Dumfries is a short 20 minute drive away where there is the Ice Bowl, Museum and Camera Obscura, the Aviation Museum, Robert Burns Centre, Caerlaveroch Castle, Britain’s only triangular castle and of course the many high street shops. Drumlanrig Caste and Country Park is just 18 miles North of Dumfries and offers something for all the family with an outstanding adventure play park, castle tours, craft workshop, cycle hire, walks and trails.

Less than an hour’s drive away is the world famous Blacksmith’s shop at Gretna Green where romantic runaway marriages were forged in past times. Also Gretna Gateway Outlet Village with around 50 stores and 5 cafes.

We booked a pet van for the weekend, descided in the end not to take our dog as had a long drive. Anyway the van wasn't very nice, the smell was bad and the stains on the sofa were disgusting. We have stayed in pet vans before, and none have been like this, all be very clean. We did go straight to complain in the clubhouse as reception was closed when we arrived, and they did find us another van which was much nicer. Overall a nice place, small and quiet. Disappointed you had to pay extra for the pool though, so didn't use it. Went into the club house a few times, nice atmosphere and entertainment. The small arcade bit was rarely open but it is end of season. The camp is about half hour drive to dumfries if you need any shops, there is a small shop on site but barely had anything left on the shelves. We stayed here cos we were attending an event at Mabie farm park. There maybe more to do around there in the summer but not this time of year. Beach is nice for a walk. Staff all grea

Fab family holiday!!

Wallace, Nadine - 22/10/2024

Caravan very warm and big, and clean. It had lots of space for a family of four! Very close to pool, pubs and eating places. My kids loved being close to playpark and pool. Paul johns and chippy very good to eat in. 19th hole very good to play pool with family. I visit every year and would definitely book this caravan again. Only negative thing is the cooker didn't work properly.

Great wee site, with pubs/amusements/chippy

Great location, 15 mins from Dumfries town centre, so handy if you need to be near all other services. We used the pub on site for bingo and a pub quiz, then also used the larger 19th hole pub across the road from the caravan site. Great location for exploring the coast line with near by RockCliff village (Lovely on a sunny day) & towns of Dalbeattie and Castle Douglas as well. The caravan site is also a great location to stay if mountain biking is your hobbie, as there is two purpose built "7-Stanes" forest tracks near by, both with half hour drive of the caravan site, 1 at village of Mabie on route back towards Dumfries, and one just outside Dalbeattie.

Short break from the mundane

Hanna, J - 18/10/2024

The area is a great place to get away from the humdrum and do as little or much as you like. The lighthouse site is one of at least three sites all adjacent to each other. Compared to other sites we have used through the UK it's average, some of the caravans look somewhat tired but the site is kept clean and manicured, the staff are available, pleasant and very responsive to issues. The main down side for us is access to the swimming pool as it isn't suited to a couple looking for a quick dip as it is bookable for groups rather than open sessions.Public transport is easily accessible with a regular timetable for buses from the entrance area.
