Leekworth Caravan & Camping Park is situated on the outskirts of the historic market village of Middleton in Teesdale, and very close to Barnard Castle. The stunning natural beauty of the North Pennines surrounds our site and is set on the banks of the River Tees.
The famous Teesdale Way runs alongside the site and joins us to the Pennine Way and Middleton village centre, with its country shops and cafes, is only a 10 minute walk away.
With fantastic facilities on site including 1000 meters of free fishing on the River Tees, (rod licence required) and the surrounding area offering miles and miles of footpaths to explore the glorious countryside, museums, garden, attractions and so much more, we are confident that your stay will be one to remember.
We now have an adult-only section with limited pitches available (these fill up fast so you'll have to be quick to book!)

Stayed here a few times lovley well looked after site owner very helpful short walk into Middleton Teesdale very clean toilets and shower block excellent large dog exercise area free fishing in season on the river Tees highly rate this site very quite even when i have stayed when busy i will be booking up for a few trips next year
I have stayed a few times at this site, with family and friends but also happy to come on my own too. The last visit was the furthest I have camped from amenities but they were still only a short walk.Love the walk along the river into Middleton and Teasdale and the walk along the road is interesting too; lots of wildlife to see.My favourite ‘within an hour from home’ sites to visit.
Although we had a a storm throughout our stay, we had a great time. The site is well designed with nice views. The toilet/ shower block absolutely spotless. Also a nice walk into the local village. Will definitely be back next year!( with hopefully better weather).
My partner and I stayed at Leekworth in our motorhome for four nights recently, as I was attending a fly fishing workshop with John Tyzak. This event was arranged in collaboration with Leekworth Caravan and Camping site. The workshop was very informative and enjoyable and something that I would definitely recommend. As to the site itself, this too was excellent. All pitches were very spacious and level, with mains hook up provided. Ours also had a water point on the pitch, so very handy for refilling the water tank as required. The toilet and shower facilities were excellent. Spotlessly clean throughout with the benefit of under floor heating for the colder days. The reception/shop area provided a small range of everyday essentials. Robin, the owner of the site was very cheerful and friendly and obviously takes great pride in the site. Overall, I would highly recommend Leekworth to anyone looking for a great place to stay in a beautiful area of the UK. We will definitely be back.
We had a wonderful stay on site for two nights. Beautifully clean site with excellent facilities. Quiet location surrounded by natural, perfect weekend break, short stroll into the village, lots to see and really lovely cafes.
Beautiful, peaceful surroundings. Great for a some relaxation or as a base for hiking.I attended a fly fishing event held there and thoroughly enjoyed it, no shortage of trout and grayling.
Long narrow but we’ll maintained access road.Well maintained site next to the river.Lovely walks into the town. Great to have an exercise field where our dog could get off the lead and have a run. Very clean facilities but a bit disappointing that it was 50p for a shower when the charges weren’t cheap.Friendly and helpful staff and useful little shop.Lovely place to stay and will go again.
Lovely campsite, new toilet block which was very clean. Showers were good to. Nice 15 minute walk into Middleton, nice pubs and a lovely Workman's club with friendly staff. Nice country walks near by. Will definitely return to campsite
We loved our stay at Leekworth. The location was excellent to reach some hikes we wanted to do along the Penine way. The pitches were very spacious along the beautiful river. The facilities were extremely clean and of a high standard!!
Excellent site, brilliantly laid out. The fella at the camp site was also excellent. The site is secure, safe, excellent amenities. The guy greeted us at the gate, asked how long we were staying again, checked our car reg number to make sure it was us who booked. Informed us where the drinking water was, the other water the drain/ pit thing for emptying the toilet cassette. Very clean the whole site. Excellent dog walking path on site, plenty of bins, recycling and general waste. The shop on site is fab, everything you need or want is in there to buy. The shower block and toilets are immaculate and only 50p to use the shower, definitely value for money. Very well maintained caravan/camping site, absolutely brilliant. We will definitely be going back in the not too distant future. Lovely site, right on the river, we decided on a hard pitch with electrics. It was really near the shower block, there was plenty of taps dotted about the site. You could also hire a fire pit for the length f
