Leekworth Caravan & Camping Park is situated on the outskirts of the historic market village of Middleton in Teesdale, and very close to Barnard Castle. The stunning natural beauty of the North Pennines surrounds our site and is set on the banks of the River Tees.
The famous Teesdale Way runs alongside the site and joins us to the Pennine Way and Middleton village centre, with its country shops and cafes, is only a 10 minute walk away.
With fantastic facilities on site including 1000 meters of free fishing on the River Tees, (rod licence required) and the surrounding area offering miles and miles of footpaths to explore the glorious countryside, museums, garden, attractions and so much more, we are confident that your stay will be one to remember.
We now have an adult-only section with limited pitches available (these fill up fast so you'll have to be quick to book!)

5* clean and friendly siteI suggest having a seat in the shower.Cubicles and a shelf for your soap and shampoo on.And in the winter turn the heating up in the shower blocks.
This was a very well run site in a lovely riverside location. The facilities were very clean and well maintained. It was only a 15 minute walk into Middleton in Teesdale with shops and pubs. I couldn’t fault anything with our stay, and will probably return in the future.
Great site and very friendly owner , but needs upgrade to grey water and taps to each plot Still going back though
We absolutely loved it here despite (storm) ‘Dennis’ trying to say otherwise. The ease of check in & greeting made us feel more than welcome. All the facilities, water intake, showers/loos. pot wash, waste water, elsan etc are central to the site and very close to reception. Lovely large enclosed dog walking field. The location is perfect with beautiful countryside surrounding the site. A 15-20 min walk (10 if you’re speedy!) takes you into the lovely Middleton-in-Tees where there is everything you could wish for in a mini break. A co-op for the essentials but also lovely welcoming cafes with pastries, cakes, savouries etc, pubs, fish & chips, restaurants, pizza, you name it, it’s there, but it does not intrude into the beauty of the place. I walked in, via both the river Tees & the track leading to the site. Both are lovely walks with so much to see (look out for the fire station). An absolute gem.
We had a great time at leakworth. Very quiet and peaceful but also very friendly. We had our dog with us and we found some fantastic walks. Its also a nice walk into the nearby village. We will definitely be returning
Overall the site was very clean and tidy and had good facilities. We had a dog so the dog field was perfect. Only a few minor negatives:- - not enough bins on site. - main gates shut at 8pm so meant had to leave car at top and walk back to van in dark
Enjoyable stay at Leekworth. Would recommend and return. The owner was very friendly and the site was very peaceful and quiet. Not anything to do with kids but that was ok we still enjoyed our stay
Stayed here a few times lovley well looked after site owner very helpful short walk into Middleton Teesdale very clean toilets and shower block excellent large dog exercise area free fishing in season on the river Tees highly rate this site very quite even when i have stayed when busy i will be booking up for a few trips next year
I have stayed a few times at this site, with family and friends but also happy to come on my own too. The last visit was the furthest I have camped from amenities but they were still only a short walk.Love the walk along the river into Middleton and Teasdale and the walk along the road is interesting too; lots of wildlife to see.My favourite ‘within an hour from home’ sites to visit.
Although we had a a storm throughout our stay, we had a great time. The site is well designed with nice views. The toilet/ shower block absolutely spotless. Also a nice walk into the local village. Will definitely be back next year!( with hopefully better weather).
