Hi Lisa, thank you for your review. Our new pot wash and laundry area opened yesterday 05/08/22. This has been under renovation during your stay. We have also added a new tumble dryer as one of the other had broken and been removed. We hope you visit us again in the future. Kind regards Babette

Cramped

Sanderson, Amy - 05/08/2022

I don’t understand how it can be marketed as a luxury lakeside lodge that sleeps up to 4. Myself, husband and 2 children went, I’m a size 10 , my husband is slim and my 2children are very petite in size. The lodge itself is so cramped , which meant that the fold away table was utterly useless , because there wasn’t enough room between the sofa and in front of the bed to put it up. The bathroom was the only room which was separate but the water didn’t drain and we had to put sliders ( waterproof shoes) in there, so that when you did need the toilet, you had to wear them. Because the lodge was so cramped, there was no room to dry our towels that we had used for the pool or in the shower. Because the kitchen bin was located in the wardrobe, near to the bunk beds, it attracted lots of flies, it was disgusting. We emptied the bin several times a day to try and stop this, but it didn’t. I stood in dog poo twice on site, it was expensive, awful and so disappointing. Would not recommend ever.

Thank you for your 2* review… first of all did you not look at the picture or the videos online? There is multiple pictures and videos of our beautiful lakeside lodges on our website, Facebook, Instagram and youtube. Did you not read the detailed description stating the size of the lodges, the layout and what each lodge is equipped with? You are more then welcome to move the bin to a place you find more convenient. We are surrounded by fields and unfortunately we can not control the flies apart from asking guests to keep their space clean and the bins empty. There is a plug in fly zapper provided in each lodges. There is two hooks outside of each lodge to dry towels. Regarding the dog poo, there is no dog poo anywhere onsite. We do have lots of wildlife around the lake so this may of been what caused the mess. If you had informed a member of staff we would of been happy to help. I feel your review is massively unfair, but we cannot be to everyones taste. Next time you make a booking somewhere PLEASE read the description and look through the pictures and videos before booking and then give a business a bad review. For every bad review a business gets need they then need roughly four five-star reviews to make up for that one review… please think about that before you do this again to somebody else’s business. We are very surprised to have received this review as you can see we have had nothing but wonderful things said about our lakeside lodges as well as the full site. Kind regards Babette

This lake side lodge was better than we expected.Although it was small it was cosy and peacefully. The on site bar and pizza place was great and the swimming pool was fab, my children used it everyday.Close drive to many different sea side towns which we visited.Hopefully soon you will be aloud to fish in the lake there that would be an added bonus If we visited again.Overall a great time had by all of us.

The lodge

McLean, Nichola - 26/07/2022

Friendly, clean, comfortable and relaxing. Everyone in the family was able to relax and enjoy the lodge in their own way. It was also private which we loved. We could park our cars right outside which helped with accessibility for anyone who may have mobility challenges. The owners were very helpful and accommodating. It was also great to use the pool and have it all to ourselves. Staying here also meant we were out of the main drag of Scarborough but we had easy access to all local attractions so it was ideally located as it was quiet and relaxed, which we prefer. Would definitely like to go again at some point.

Blissful stay

Butterfield, Tace - 23/07/2022

Everything was immaculate, beautiful surroundings. 2 minute drive to Cayton Bay Beach, 10 minutes into Filey. Loved the atmosphere with the live band and the barn bar. Kids playground great too. Pizzas yummy! Added the hot tub package on to our stay which was advertised to include Prosecco, teabags, coffee, milk, basics to get you started, including bin liners. No binliners were and only enough tea/coffee to make 2 each with no sugar. Maybe this could be made more clear so a visit to the local shop wasn’t needed. Self check in super easy… apart from we booked direct from the website and there was no where that stated it was self check in, not on any emails, booking confirmation etc. No body in reception but after a few phone calls we managed to get sorted. Those tiny things certainly didn’t affect our stay but alway good to have honest reviews. Recommended to all our friends and would love to visit again

A Little Haven of Peace

Salvin, Caroline - Van 281 - 22/07/2022

I keep my old touring Van at Killerby Old Hall and book short or long stays as I have availability. I cannot fault the staff, the efficiency and the general feeling a family friendliness at Killerby. The facilities are always clean and well maintained, and the introduction of Pizzas, breakfasts and live music at week ends adds a little extra to what is always a stress-free way of spending some of my free time. The beach is within easy walking distance. Great afternoon teas at the Stained Glass Centre, literally at the end of the drive to the park, the Farrier is a great place to eat out and the little mini market is useful for the essentials you always seem to forget. I love it!
