We were with an ICFR rally in June and on arrival found our No 19 pitch to be under trees, no room for an awning and very disappointing. Being unable to change pitch we would have left had we not been with a group. It rained regularly whilst there and the slope was such that they was water regularly pooling around us. THIS PITCH NEEDS TAKING OUT OF SERVICE. You will only get bad reviews from those allocated it. Its adjoining one is even worse. Also over several days families with tents were sited around us. This is not in itself a problem and we enjoyed watching the children havig a good time. However letting dogs roam and lighting fires for all their cooking was not welcomed. Although we had complained about some of their activities and members of staff visited, all appeared in order at the time of visits but once staff had left we were back to normal. The people themselves were very friendly but did not appreciate that others were affected by their behaviour.
Three families with tents ignored the rules. Children used or area (plots 15+)as a cycle race track subsequently causing one to visit A&E with a broken arm. They had a log fire burning continuously. The sign saying no tents was ignored and when we complained the site staff merely covered it up! 2 of the pitches in our group were unsuitable because of overhanging trees/sloping pitches/mud. Facilities were good and very clean but soon deteriorated due to grass ingress. Grass cuttings need to be collected not left -better lawnmowers needed. It was difficult to level the van on most pitches. A small amount of landscaping would fix this so it is obvious the site was initially laid out on the cheap.Local area was very interesting and scenic with plenty of good places to eat.
Our second visit, and nothing has changed in 5 years, narrow very sloping concrete pitches, impossible to put up awning. Many trees overhanging pitches that have very low branches. Complained about large group of campers with uncontrolled kids and dogs who were chopping down trees and lighting fires, which is forbidden by site rules and they did nothing. All the manager told us was the council won't invest. Shame really, great location but stay elsewhere.
Dog walking great, But couldn’t find a bin, so had to use general waste.
The location and layout of the park and facilities within it are very good. Unfortunately it is managed by the local council, whose workers either don't agree with the many rules established for its safe running, or are uninterested in enforcing them. Whilst we were there we were surprised to see a very large group of families with tents, cars, a van and a small caravan set up in the middle of the separate, sloping, caravan area, which was signposted as forbidden to tents. Their dogs were to be seen the whole week running around the area unleashed. Their children rode bicycles and scooters at speed down the hill through the caravans (one subsequently being hospitalised after crashing) and their open cooking fire consumed a considerable amount of wood from the surrounding forest. Pointing out to them the dangers of an open fire between their tents and next to caravans and cars was ignored, as were complaints to management that not one of the site rules remained unbroken. Very sad.
The pitches on the road where so clever situated that yoy didn't see the neighbours. Only a beautiful view over the campsite. So smart!
Beautiful place kids and dogs friendly ;) very clean not too far away for daily trips to Silent Valey or Tollymore Park with a great downhill trail
Really enjoyed or stay would be disappointed if we brought an awning as site quite unlevel
Breath taking views on the drive in to the town, super friendly staff as well as very clean falsities. Will be visiting again for sure !!
a party of students on one of the nights we stayed there were very noisy.
