I’ve always found Hook s tranquil hideaway with open fields for dogs to play and a pleasant walk into Lyme itself. The facilities are excellent and the staff friendly and helpful. I’ve read reviews critical of the rules, but these are only enforced to ensure the enjoyment of the many, rather than allow the Benidorm few to spoil things. Sorry Benidorm!Take a supply of 20pence pieces as the showers run for 4 minutes per coin. There are pop up pizza and curry vans during high season and I can recommend the Talbot Arms, just down the narrow approach road; also the Royal Standard on the seafront with it’s Greek style menu. The sand beach in Lyme gets very busy in high season (sand from France) and is closed to dogs. Walk past the marina and dogs are allowed.Virtually all pitches have unobstructed valley views, but not pitch 48. It is convenient (maybe uncomfortably so) for the loo block, but twinned with 47 meaning your view is of the side of your neighbour’s van and loses sun early
Unlike most campsites this one is on multiple levels with outfits NOT neatly lined up, making it pretty and appealing. Toilets and showers good. The 20p for a 4 minute shower is no big deal. My only criticism is that the fast internet access may well be fast but it's weak. Neither of our phones would stay connected if we were inside the campervan.
Very quiet site, well kept, wonderful walk into Lyme and friendly managers. Sadly, felt it was over regulated (escorted to pitch, lots of rules everywhere, big discussion about the size of tent and if it was a gazebo!, couldn't leave the van on site to go for a walk as we arrived early - even though site was empty). So, this did spoil our enjoyment slightly as it was not very relaxing. I would not recommend the site to families with children who might make a noise or throw a ball!.
Hi Julia, thanks for your review. Yes we have some rules (written on one small welcome sheet) to ensure that all our guests have a wonderful time here. You were in a campervan so we had to check your tent wasn't going to encroach on to the adjacent pitch, not a big discussion... Arrival time is 1pm which gives us time after departures to do site maintenance, this is why the site looks well kept! We pride ourselves on being a very family friendly site and love to see and hear kids enjoying their holiday with us, which they do, as can be seen in our excellent reviews from families who actually bring children.
What a gem! A fab site that reflects real care and passion from the owners and staff. Large capacity but feels intimate with lots of different levels and mature trees giving privacy to individual pitches.Toilet/shower facilities are immaculate and the riverside walk into Lyme Regis is not to be missed- we’ll be back!
The site is clean and tidy. We had booked a medium pitch with electric hook up. We asked if we could bring our 5m touring caravan and were given a definite 'no', so we brought our campervan instead. When we arrived, it was obvious that our tourer would have fitted very easily with our car on the hardstanding with no trouble - and indeed, there were tourers a lot bigger than ours on the site, so don't understand the inflexibility. The other issue was the 'hot' showers. First of all, 20p for 4 minutes is a bit rich, when the site fees are not cheap to begin with. The showers shouldn't be charged for. Secondly, during out 3 night stay I tried to have a shower 4 times. I didn't manage to get a hot shower ONCE during my stay. Showers were freezing cold. I complained at reception on day 2 at around 3pm, and was told "they are solar, but they've had all day to warm up, so will be hot right now" - they weren't. All in all a disappointing stay. Staff were good but rules of site were inflexible.
Hi Debra, thanks for your review. There were no long tourers on site as we are unable to accept them. Sorry to hear you didn't get a hot shower, it would have been good if you'd came back to us again otherwise we don't know there is a still an issue as there were no other reports of cold showers.
First time staying here in our new camper. Friendly check in, beautiful quiet site, close to town/beach, immaculately clean. We’ll definitely be back. Thank you 😃
Hi Alison, thank you for your wonderful review. Glad you enjoyed your stay in your new van and look forward to welcoming you back!
Lovely site, friendly helpful staff. However, the outstanding aspect it's position with the lovely river walk into Lyme Regis close by. My friend and I did it 4 times!!
Hi Jinny, thanks for your lovely review. Glad you enjoyed your stay and well done on all the walking!!
This was our 5th year in a row at Hook Farm. We love it here and as always enjoyed our time.
Hi Elizabeth, thanks for your lovely review, always appreciated. We look forward to seeing you again!
Clean tidy site. We only stayed one night and it would have been good if we good have got on the site before 1pm
Hi Tony, thanks for your review. Check-in time is 1pm to allow for ground maintenance after checkouts and for staff to have a lunch break!
Great camping spot , nice and big, not far from toilets and washing facilities. Half hour walk into Lyme Regis but there were buses if you wanted to use them. Taxi was £6 little shop on site , would have liked it to be open a little later but not too much of an issue really.
Hi Jodie, thanks for your great review, we're so glad you enjoyed your holiday and hope to welcome you again in the future.
