Holme Valley Camping & Caravan Park

4.6 (374 reviews)

An idyllic escape on the fringes of the Peak District. Set in a tranquil valley, this family-run park spans 16 acres of lush woodland and meadows, providing a picturesque setting for budget-friendly getaways. Situated on the fringes of the picturesque Peak District, Holme Valley beckons those seeking an escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life without breaking the bank. This family-run park spans three generations and is committed to preserving the natural beauty of the valley. Nestled amidst 16 acres of enchanting woodlands and meadows, it serves as an idyllic haven for nature enthusiasts and outdoor adventurers.

The park boasts a variety of pitches thoughtfully scattered along the riverbanks, lakeside, among the trees, and within the meadows. Each pitch is unique, providing guests with the freedom to choose a setting that aligns with their preferences. Whether you desire the soothing sounds of the river or the tranquillity of a meadow, Holme Valley Camping and Caravan Park ensures a personalised experience for all.

For those who prefer a touch of luxury without compromising the outdoor experience, Holme Valley offers glamping accommodations. Perfect for those hesitant to sleep under canvas, these options provide home comforts in a natural setting. It's an ideal choice for those who wish to elevate their outdoor holiday experience.

The park's recent addition of an award-winning amenities block elevates the camping experience. Tiled throughout with underfloor heating, the block features spacious showers, a vanity area with hair dryers, and baby-changing facilities. Three large family bathrooms offer a touch of opulence and can be hired daily. The park ensures that campers feel at home with a second spacious shower block equipped for wheelchair users, providing convenience throughout the park.

A small licensed shop, often hailed as well-stocked as a supermarket, caters to camper needs. From everyday essentials like bread and baked beans to unexpected finds like sewing kits and storage bags, the shop aims to be a one-stop destination. In the absence of a desire to cook on a camping stove, three nearby pubs and the charming town of Holmfirth, a mere mile away, offer alternative dining options.

Encouraging children to embrace the outdoors, a new play area built in 2022 provides ample space for biking, ball games, and woodland adventures such as den building, nature trails, and hide'n'seek. A willow tunnel at the far end of the New Field adds an enchanting touch, and a nature trail booklet from the shop or reception ensures that young explorers don't miss out on the wonders around them.

Recognizing the unpredictability of weather, the park offers practical solutions. Washing machines, a dryer, and ironing facilities in the laundry room come to the rescue when rain or mud strikes. Two washing up areas and two chemical toilet disposal points further enhance the convenience for campers.

In a nod to sustainability and evolving technology, Holme Valley has embraced electric vehicles. The park now features a charge point for electric cars located conveniently outside the shop/reception at the entrance, catering to environmentally conscious trave

Short Early Spring Break

Sloman, Andrew - 14/03/2024

Our third visit here and now one of our favourites. It’s absolutely perfect for the North West tip of the Peak District and the moors around the Holme and Colne Valleys with some truly stunning walks and bike rides around the many reservoirs and wooded valleys. Holmfirth has some really good places to eat and drink, and has thankfully ( for us ) dropped the Nora Batty image. You can walk into Holmfirth easily from the site, either on the road or by footpaths and bridleways avoiding the roads, or there is a bus stop at the top of the lane with buses to Holmfirth and Huddersfield etc.We also made a trip to Marsden purely to visit a cafe for the first time called Peel Street Social and I can honestly say it’s was THE most amazing breakfast I have ever had. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Holme Valley Camping, Lovely clean facilities and a really lovely site all round.

Holmfirth concert stay

Wood, Ian - 14/03/2024

I stayed here as it was convenient for getting to Holmfirth for a concert at the picturedrome. The bus stop at the top of the lane also provided easy access to Huddersfield for a day out. All the amenities on the site were clean and well maintained. All in all a pleasant short stay and would not hesitate to return.

First and Last Time

Coleman, Joy - 09/03/2024

Never having been glamping I expected a little bit of luxury over a basic camping experience. We were disappointed that there was no where comfortable to sit in the cabin and considering this was Winter we were confined to the cabin sitting on fold up chairs at the small table provided. No tv which I appreciate isn't everyone's thing . Kitchen facilities OK but no toaster so didn't actually bother making breakfast. We didn't use the en suite shower as came home in the early hours so can't comment on that. However on plus side, the cabin was warm and dry and the bed was very comfortable. Outside parking was ok but not a hard standing so carrying stuff from the car was interesting due to the mud. The pond had beer cans floating in it, not very attractive. Maybe glamping is just not for us but for the price I expected a bit more.

Response from the owner

11 March 2024

Thank you for taking the time to to write a review. I am sorry to hear you weren't happy with your glamping stay. As it was a raffle prize, I understand that it was your first time glamping and that you expected something different. There is a wide range of glamping options and units vary across sites, which is why we have a detailed glamping website page, the virtual tour and information in the confirmation email so that our guests know what to expect. I am sorry the grass outside the cabin was muddy - unfortunately we have had a lot of rain this year - we will check the area and see what we can do to improve the situation. It is very disappointing that you saw cans in the pond, this is something we would address straightaway if alerted to it. We have since checked and there was no sign of litter, so it must have already been addressed. We encourage guests to report any problems as soon as possible so that we can put things right. I am sorry you didn't stay the full night of your 1-night stay and make the most of your prize. Kind regards, Naomi.
