Hidden Valley is a serene haven of relaxation. Set in a beautiful valley with sites overlooking the tranquil waters of the Avonmore River and a glassy, private lake, The park offers guests the opportunity to experience a holiday amid an abundance of wildlife including kingfishers, cranes, wild geese, ducks, otters and pheasant.

Hidden Valley Holiday Park attracts couples and families seeking a peaceful, family-fun holiday in picturesque surroundings. The park offers both hard-standing and grass sites, each with electric, water and grey waste. The park also has a fantastic choice of boutique glamping lodges for those looking for an outdoor getaway with all the views of camping but with all the comforts of home.

The Park was formed in 2005 and is owned and operated by The Williams family. In the first three years of operation, the owners upgraded the holiday park from a 2-star park into a 4-star Failte Ireland approved park offering modern facilities and great value for couples and families alike. As a family owned and operated business we take great pride in assuring our guests a fantastic and memorable holiday.

The park is located in Rathdrum (“Ringfort of the Ridge”), which was originally the main town of Co. Wicklow, and is still well serviced by both train and bus. The town is situated high on the western side of the beautiful Avonmore Valley and offers the tourist scenic views of the Avonmore River, which flows through the Vale of Clara. The Rathdrum railway station opened on July 18th, 1863.

Rathdrum is well known for the Avondale House and Forest Park, which was home to Charles Stewart Parnell – one of the greatest political leaders of modern Irish History. The grounds offer excellent forest/river walks and picnics.

Rathdrum was also well known for the Rathdrum International Cartoon Festival. The Cartoon Inn displays the work of Bill Eirner, Hunt Emereson, Ulrich Schroeder, Bob Foster, which are among some of the famous artists whose work can be seen at close quarter. The Cartoon Inn is famed far and wide for the rich and humour cartoons which adorn its welcoming walls.

First impressions

Walsh, Michael - 27/04/2024

I think ye could offer more for the money you pay, for example some activities should be included in part of your stay even if it was just the mini golf, parks closed earlier than stated on timetable, and we have cousin arrive for a day trip to be told the slide was fully booked, it states in the booking that if we have booked to stay on site then get the combo pass on arrival, which we did but couldn't book the slide as it was fully booked and was not busy at all as is off season. I cant believe showers have to be paid for, whats the reason behind this? Lovely location and staff were lovely throughout.

First impression of Irish Motorhome sites

Mace, John - 25/04/2024

Toilets.Throughout my 3 night stay a mop and brush with dust pan was left in the entrance to the gent toilets and never seemed to move. Alongside these cleaning tools there remained a yellow sign warning of work being done in the entrance to the toilet. This sign moved from laying down and being propped up as the sign had come apart. There was a border light grime around the toilet and partition floor fittings in the toilet block. The showers were charged for at a euro for 6 minutes, this included the time it took to warm up which seems to be a common albeit archaic practice in Ireland and most unwelcome practice. The shower doors need adjusting, they have all dropped and unless lifted to get them to close cannot be locked. The floors were always dirty. If you put a second token in to extend the shower it goes stone cold and then dangerously hot before returning to the setting of the previous shower, a real hazard for children.Outside the site was good.

Lovely setting and great central location.

Thompson, Jane - 22/04/2024

We stayed 3 nights mid week and the site was very quiet. It's a beautiful location next to the river and a short up hill walk into town. We would have valued a bit more local information about walking routes etc. The shower and toilet facilities were decent enough but the taps didn't work properly and with no plugs it was difficult to even wash our faces or clean teeth. The cleaning regime could have been better but it was low season so I expect this improves at busy times. Staff were lovely. We were sad to see so much litter behind the campsite, along the beautiful river bank. This litter must be coming from site users and really needs to be collected.

Average camp site where you pay for everything

Di Virgilio, Kathryn - 12/04/2024

We had traveled all over Ireland and stayed here at the end of our trip. We had to pay for hot showers which was the first time we'd encountered this at any site. This gave the whole place a feel of prioritising profits above caring for guests. The staff were not friendly, not really interested in helping us and gave a somewhat gloomy atmosphere to the whole place.

Stayed here a few times camping and cabins always a fantastic getaway for families , First time in Boutique cabin they are brilliant , I just dont like the €100 euro deposit to be paid when checking in as it takes 2 to 3 weeks to be returned to your card why cant you just secure card on check in like hotels do without taking peoples money ??
