V good spec facilities which are kept spotlessly clean. Access to a beautiful wildflower meadow. The nearby pub is friendly, has good beers and an unpretentious menu of pub food. The only deterrent for some would be the pricing of £36 per night for a one man hike tent.
Excellent place to stay, lovely campsite well set out with hedges between each plot. Facilities were immaculate , indoor room for eating should the weather be a bit damp was very useful. The staff were all friendly and helpful, the small shop and vending machines were handy, during our two night stay we couldn't have asked for anything else, superb place 5 stars. Thank you .
When we arrived at the site we had a lovely warm welcome and were given the breakfast meat pack that we ordered. The caravan pitch was large enough for the caravan, awning and the car and we had lovely views from across the pitch. There is a great dog walking area to the rear just up and over a small hill which has had paths cut out through the meadow for you to walk your dog and there are plenty of dog pooh bins.We hired the BBQ chalet building and it was great lots of space for us all with plenty of seats and a central BBQ area.We also liked the fact that the site has a barrier that is controlled by a passcode given to campers only. The only thing that let it down is the heck.in time of 3pm we think 1pm is more appropriate. But apart from this we really enjoyed our stay.
Lovely well kept site but just a bit too out in the sticks for me.
Our stay was brilliant. The wigwam was cute and cosy. The hottub was clean and a lot of fun with a 9 year old! The staff were so helpful and the animal feeding was great for kids. We'll be back!
We spent two nights at this lovely site. A boys weekend away! Two adults and two kids visiting Hadrian’s Wall and Vindolanda. Ideal location, fantastic facilities and I would definitely recommend it to anyone!
Had an amazing time at Herding Hill- it is beautifully kept and clean and the staff were so warm and helpful. The BBQ hut was a real highlight and I have already booked to come back with family this time! Thank you!
We had previous bookings which had to be cancelled due to weather and car troubles, but the staff were amazing and helped us rearrange without any problems. When we finally arrived at herding hill we were greeted with a friendly welcome and all facilities and site was explained in detail. We were also surprised to hear their was an actual bath and on-site sauna which I regret taking advantage of, but gives us an incentive to come back. Our son who is 9 loved the animals and park, we also liked that it was padlocked and opened at 9am. The site was quiet and peaceful, and really clean. The ladies facilities were spotless and smelled clean, my husband said the same about the mens. Our dog loved the dog walk and watching the sheep. The only thing that was a bit hit and miss was the WiFi, but we made do and had our own entertainment.Oh and the best touch according to our son was the Friday night pizzas, he said it was the best pizza he ever had and the spice was just right.
Herding Hill is a scenic ,friendly quiet site. We visited during the school holidays, I’d imagine it’s livelier when families visit.Toilet and shower block were warm and clean, all other facilities functional and well maintained. It’s not a large site. There is a small petting farm and an off lead dog walking area with lovely views We had cloudy weather so couldn’t take advantage of the dark skies in the area. Haltwhistle close by (5mins drive) with supermarket, cafes, takeaways and several pubs. Lovely town. Hexham is a little further away, well worth visiting. Both towns very dog friendly too. Small pub The Milecastle nearby. . Also Twice Brewed, good food and brewery there.Recommend Bardon Mill too, lovely pottery. Ideal base for exploring some of the best sections of the Wall, forts and surrounding towns and countryside. Pitches are a decent size and screened by hedging from each other. One thing we did find was that the ground was hard to drive pegs into. Need big
We ate at the pub down the road, the atmosphere was lovely and the food amazing. It was nice to walk there and look at the views of the countryside. We are hoping to come back soon.
