Haw Wood Farm Caravan Park

4.8 (301 reviews)

Conveniently close to the A12 and just 4 miles from the beautiful Suffolk Coast, Haw Wood Farm is an award-winning, family-run holiday park set in the market town of Saxmundham. Just a stone's throw from woodlands, heaths, quaint villages, bike routes and walking paths, the site is surrounded by stunning open countryside. Everything you could want for a well earned break is right on your doorstep.

Spanning 14 acres, this AA 5 Gold Pennant site is based close to the gorgeous Suffolk Coast and has garnered a string of prestigious awards over the years. These include David Bellamy Gold Awards for conservation and a place in Practical Caravaners' 'Top 100' campsites in the country—testaments to its excellence and popularity among guests.

The site offers a great range of pitches, catering to motorhomes, campervans, caravans, and tents. From fully serviced hardstanding pitches to grass serviced pitches and standard pitches, Haw Wood Farm Caravan Park provides a variety of options to suit every camper's preference. The commitment to harmonising with nature is evident in the adjacent Wild Flower and Young Woodland Walk, inviting visitors to indulge in peaceful strolls amidst the beauty of native flora and fauna.

One of the standout features of Haw Wood Farm is its meticulously maintained amenities. A 2022 refurbishment project resulted in Platinum Award-winning bathrooms that boast underfloor heating for comfort during cooler evenings and winter months. The facilities include shower and toilet rooms with hand dryers, hair dryers, and full-length mirrors. Families can make use of the self-contained family bathrooms, complete with shower, toilet, sink, and baby change units, while an accessible shower room caters to wheelchair users.

The wash up and laundry facility in the main building offers convenience with large sinks for washing up, a freezer for ice, and washing machines and tumble dryers, enabling campers to pack lighter and stay longer. The on-site shop is well-stocked and reasonably priced, providing everything from daily essentials to camping equipment and local products.

For those who prefer to let someone else do the cooking, the on-site cafe welcomes guests with a variety of options. The menu, especially extended during the summer, offers vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free alternatives, ensuring a diverse and inclusive dining experience.

Families with well-behaved dogs are welcomed at Haw Wood Farm. While on a lead around the park, dogs can enjoy freedom in a large grazing meadow, which provides a space for them to stretch their legs and play freely. The highlight for many children is the playground, where diverse equipment and a fun atmosphere create lasting memories and foster new friendships.

Haw Wood Farm's commitment to environmental sustainability is evident in its use of a biomass boiler to heat all hot water on-site. The boiler is fuelled by wood chips collected from the Hinton Estate, showcasing the site's dedication to eco-friendly practices.

Beyond the Park, Haw Wood Farm offers proximity to memorable family days out. The stunning Dunwich Beach, just 4 miles away, provides a picturesque coastal escape accessible by a short drive. Minsmere, recognized as one of the best birdwatching sites in Britain, sits a mere 5 miles from Haw Wood Farm, offering nature trails and birdwatching hides for enthusiasts and families alike.

We picked the site to enable us to visit Aldeburgh and Southwold .Its a lovely area and the site is very easily accessed from the main road ,even though it has a rural feel to it .The site is well positioned with Very modern facilities and friendly staff. The fully serviced pitch with water ,waste and electric is really useful when camping in a van .The cafe is an added bonus .Would definitely return to visit the Saxmundham area .

Nice site in good location

We found the site to be clean and well maintained and the staff were very pleasant. The breakfast options in the cafe were very tasty, and we would have tried the evening fare had it been available later into the evening. As a person with reduced mobility my only criticism relates to the positioning of the chemical waste disposal point. It was 200 yds from the majority of the touring caravans, which made emptying the toilet cassette far more onerous than usual.Apart from that the site layout was good, with good pitch sizes.

Great camp site - highly recommended

Very friendly welcome and we were shown to our pitch which was a great size.Great for families with a children's play area, seating area, well stocked shop which also served breakfasts, drinks and snacks.Facilities were really good, modern and clean - got very busy at times but it is the school holidays! The only negative is that the shower was on a very short timer.Washing up area had 4 sinks and housed the washing machine/tumble dryer.Lovely to be offered apples from the trees and fresh herbs.Lovely walk through the orchard, we didn't need the dog walking field. We were able to cycle all the way on a mostly off road route through Walberswick to Southwold (8 ish miles each way). Great for the Adams Brewery Tour 😁We will definitely return

Overall great. Very happy with pitch, electrics were a bit dicey and it wasn’t our van despite staff telling us it was. Showers a little chilly or too hot:

Brilliant site

Wylie, Emma - 25/08/2025

Brilliant site with well organised pitches, various fields of well spaced out pitches plenty of room to spread out leaving a central area for the kids to play. Talking of which, the playpark was excellent to keep the kids busy with climbing frames, slides and even a fantastic zip line. Toilet block, washing up area all perfectly clean and well equipped including spacious showers. The attached cafe and reception area was well stocked and open throughout the day with daily specials, of which the kids really enjoyed Belgian waffle night! Also on site are caravan pitches and static holiday homes. Excellent waste disposal facilities and a wonderful wild flower walk and huge dog walking field. Would recommend! Overall a great stay thank you!

Lovely spacious level pitches. A very friendly atmosphere.

Lennox, Linda - 23/08/2025

There seemed to be a problem with the hot water supply to (some of) the showers in the ladies bathroom. Floor cleanliness in the showers was also not good, partly because shower water pooled near the door.Location not ideal for motorhome if not staying with friends with a car. Not a lot to do in walking distance.
