Haw Wood Farm Caravan Park

4.8 (307 reviews)

Conveniently close to the A12 and just 4 miles from the beautiful Suffolk Coast, Haw Wood Farm is an award-winning, family-run holiday park set in the market town of Saxmundham. Just a stone's throw from woodlands, heaths, quaint villages, bike routes and walking paths, the site is surrounded by stunning open countryside. Everything you could want for a well earned break is right on your doorstep.

Spanning 14 acres, this AA 5 Gold Pennant site is based close to the gorgeous Suffolk Coast and has garnered a string of prestigious awards over the years. These include David Bellamy Gold Awards for conservation and a place in Practical Caravaners' 'Top 100' campsites in the country—testaments to its excellence and popularity among guests.

The site offers a great range of pitches, catering to motorhomes, campervans, caravans, and tents. From fully serviced hardstanding pitches to grass serviced pitches and standard pitches, Haw Wood Farm Caravan Park provides a variety of options to suit every camper's preference. The commitment to harmonising with nature is evident in the adjacent Wild Flower and Young Woodland Walk, inviting visitors to indulge in peaceful strolls amidst the beauty of native flora and fauna.

One of the standout features of Haw Wood Farm is its meticulously maintained amenities. A 2022 refurbishment project resulted in Platinum Award-winning bathrooms that boast underfloor heating for comfort during cooler evenings and winter months. The facilities include shower and toilet rooms with hand dryers, hair dryers, and full-length mirrors. Families can make use of the self-contained family bathrooms, complete with shower, toilet, sink, and baby change units, while an accessible shower room caters to wheelchair users.

The wash up and laundry facility in the main building offers convenience with large sinks for washing up, a freezer for ice, and washing machines and tumble dryers, enabling campers to pack lighter and stay longer. The on-site shop is well-stocked and reasonably priced, providing everything from daily essentials to camping equipment and local products.

For those who prefer to let someone else do the cooking, the on-site cafe welcomes guests with a variety of options. The menu, especially extended during the summer, offers vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free alternatives, ensuring a diverse and inclusive dining experience.

Families with well-behaved dogs are welcomed at Haw Wood Farm. While on a lead around the park, dogs can enjoy freedom in a large grazing meadow, which provides a space for them to stretch their legs and play freely. The highlight for many children is the playground, where diverse equipment and a fun atmosphere create lasting memories and foster new friendships.

Haw Wood Farm's commitment to environmental sustainability is evident in its use of a biomass boiler to heat all hot water on-site. The boiler is fuelled by wood chips collected from the Hinton Estate, showcasing the site's dedication to eco-friendly practices.

Beyond the Park, Haw Wood Farm offers proximity to memorable family days out. The stunning Dunwich Beach, just 4 miles away, provides a picturesque coastal escape accessible by a short drive. Minsmere, recognized as one of the best birdwatching sites in Britain, sits a mere 5 miles from Haw Wood Farm, offering nature trails and birdwatching hides for enthusiasts and families alike.

What a joyous campsite, one that puts the needs of campers, guests and visitors first. All staff worked as a friendly & happy team going above & beyond to make your stay perfect. Facilities & pitches are well set out and kept scrupulously clean & tidy from morning till night.A huge thank you to all involved, and look forward to staying again soon.

Remarkably friendly staff

Seeley, Graham - 13/09/2025

The staff were both friendly and helpful and the site was spotlessly clean at all times of the day. Caravan access to the site is reasonable, with only a short distance of country lane to negotiate, yet far enough from the main road so that traffic noise could not be heard. There were no local restaurants within walking distance, so a car is required if eating out. The site has no restaurant or bar, (good & bad!)We opted for a fully serviced pitch which was a bit small. Non serviced pitches, (electric), were enormous. There is a clay pigeon range within earshot. The noise didn't bother us, but beware.

Restful

Miller, David - 13/09/2025

We stayed with our motorhome just after the summer holiday season so the site was busy over the weekend but thinned out after that. The facilities were very modern and clean, and shop was handy and carried the basic supplies and was also able to provide coffee and other hot drinks, and a selection of breakfast options. (check out the web site for more information. The site is with easy reach of Snape Maltings, Aldeburgh, and Southwold all of which have no height restriction for parking.

Great find in Suffolk

Dadge, Nigel - 12/09/2025

I had never stayed here before but from turning in off the road and being met at the reception it was a brilliant first impression. The site was spotless and well set and the shop/cafe provided a good meal on the Friday as well as two breakfasts over the weekend. It's location was great as it was only a short drive into Dunwich for access to great walking routes. I have stayed in many campsites and the toilet block was great with great facilities and a decent sized shower cubicle. I will be definitely be returning next year.

Good site. Excellent facilities.

Cunningham, Alison - 12/09/2025

Very well maintained site. Clean, modern toilet/shower block. Overall pleasant atmosphere. Pretty good Eco credentials, with its own biomass, heat and hot water generator. Amazing bakery about half mile walk away. Very clean and tidy site all around. We don’t have dogs or children, so I didn’t really make any use of the dog walking area or play area, but the Woodland walk was quite pleasant.Hot water showers were on a timer only five seconds per press, which just isn’t enough, and they seem to be a problem with cold water pressure on the day we were there as they were extremely hot and couldn’t seem to turn them down. I don’t think this is necessarily a destination site in itself as it not really on the doorstep for other towns and attractions or activities, but great for a night or two away from it all. Very peaceful and pleasant. Would definitely visit again if we were in the area.

It's not hard to understand why the awards are being gained, we could not fault any of the main considerations when choosing our destination for a break We were there during the school holidays and had no call to complain about noise etc, the facilities were never misused or untidy. Well done to the parents The hardstanding pitches are busy Great
