Haw Wood Farm Caravan Park

4.8 (339 reviews)

Conveniently close to the A12 and just 4 miles from the beautiful Suffolk Coast, Haw Wood Farm is an award-winning, family-run holiday park set in the market town of Saxmundham. Just a stone's throw from woodlands, heaths, quaint villages, bike routes and walking paths, the site is surrounded by stunning open countryside. Everything you could want for a well earned break is right on your doorstep.

Spanning 14 acres, this AA 5 Gold Pennant site is based close to the gorgeous Suffolk Coast and has garnered a string of prestigious awards over the years. These include David Bellamy Gold Awards for conservation and a place in Practical Caravaners' 'Top 100' campsites in the country—testaments to its excellence and popularity among guests.

The site offers a great range of pitches, catering to motorhomes, campervans, caravans, and tents. From fully serviced hardstanding pitches to grass serviced pitches and standard pitches, Haw Wood Farm Caravan Park provides a variety of options to suit every camper's preference. The commitment to harmonising with nature is evident in the adjacent Wild Flower and Young Woodland Walk, inviting visitors to indulge in peaceful strolls amidst the beauty of native flora and fauna.

One of the standout features of Haw Wood Farm is its meticulously maintained amenities. A 2022 refurbishment project resulted in Platinum Award-winning bathrooms that boast underfloor heating for comfort during cooler evenings and winter months. The facilities include shower and toilet rooms with hand dryers, hair dryers, and full-length mirrors. Families can make use of the self-contained family bathrooms, complete with shower, toilet, sink, and baby change units, while an accessible shower room caters to wheelchair users.

The wash up and laundry facility in the main building offers convenience with large sinks for washing up, a freezer for ice, and washing machines and tumble dryers, enabling campers to pack lighter and stay longer. The on-site shop is well-stocked and reasonably priced, providing everything from daily essentials to camping equipment and local products.

For those who prefer to let someone else do the cooking, the on-site cafe welcomes guests with a variety of options. The menu, especially extended during the summer, offers vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free alternatives, ensuring a diverse and inclusive dining experience.

Families with well-behaved dogs are welcomed at Haw Wood Farm. While on a lead around the park, dogs can enjoy freedom in a large grazing meadow, which provides a space for them to stretch their legs and play freely. The highlight for many children is the playground, where diverse equipment and a fun atmosphere create lasting memories and foster new friendships.

Haw Wood Farm's commitment to environmental sustainability is evident in its use of a biomass boiler to heat all hot water on-site. The boiler is fuelled by wood chips collected from the Hinton Estate, showcasing the site's dedication to eco-friendly practices.

Beyond the Park, Haw Wood Farm offers proximity to memorable family days out. The stunning Dunwich Beach, just 4 miles away, provides a picturesque coastal escape accessible by a short drive. Minsmere, recognized as one of the best birdwatching sites in Britain, sits a mere 5 miles from Haw Wood Farm, offering nature trails and birdwatching hides for enthusiasts and families alike.

Yet another fabulous stay at this beautiful campsite. The grounds are well maintained and the area has some lovely places to walk. We spent some time in Dunwich woods but the beach is also mot far away The facilities are of the highest standard. Would definitely recommend this site

We were very impressed with the site. It was a great location near to Sandy beaches. The camp site was clean and toilet block was the best I have experienced. We really appreciate the shop having beach toys for children. There was plenty to do in the surrounding area to keep us busy but we also enjoyed staying and relaxing on the peaceful camp site.

Lovely big pitches. We went non electric & our pitch was huge. Great loos & showers although the water pressure could be a bit hit & miss at busy times. All kept spotlessly clean…Fish & chips on Friday & pizzas on Saturday were a great addition.2 magpies at the end of the road did lush coffee & pastries. All in all a very enjoyable week x

Easily our favourite campsite as a family!

Just back from our 6th visit to Haw Wood. We love the site for its large pitches, clean and warm facilities, great café and warm welcome! The site is very family friendly with family bathrooms, children's play area and is safely tucked away from any main roads. We have found everyone to be really respectful of the site quiet times too. The owners and staff are very helpful and welcoming! So much to do in the local area and we find new things to do every time! Our favourites locally are crabbing in Walberswick and a beach day at Southwold. We look forward to coming back!

First Stay at Haw Wood Farm

Greening, Stephanie - 05/06/2025

Lovely site, great amenities and very friendly staff! Facilities were all very clean and having a little cafe and small shop on site was a lovely bonus! When we stayed, there was the option to have fish and chips on a Friday and Pizza on a Saturday and this was something that was a great addition and is perfect if it rains so you don’t have to cook! Accessibility is good and location is close to the coast. We felt very safe whilst on site and feel as though it is good value for money. We will be returning!

The Perfect Campsite!

Blackery, Arwen - 05/06/2025

It's not often I can't fault a campsite but for this campsite I can't fault it! For my family it is just perfect and everything we look for in a campsite. Large pitches so you can fit all your tenting needs on without feeling cramped. Great play area suitable for most ages (3 and up) with the added bonus that the cafe and picnic area overlook this so no more standing around getting bored while the children play, we can enjoy a drink and something to eat while our child plays. Wonderful breakfast using locally produced food, great coffee. Fantastic bathrooms with underfloor heating so toasty and warm on chilly days. Showers are hot and clean, just how we like them. Washing up facilities with a freezer for ice blocks. Washing and drying machines (though didn't need to use them) site is kept to a high standard of cleanliness and repair. The pitches are generally flat so not too much sloping which is great for tent users. This is our 2nd visit and certainly won't be our last. Amazing staff

Half term camping with family and friends

Lainchbury, Andy - 05/06/2025

We had a group of 6 of us staying on site in the lower field in two pitches. The arrival was straightforward the signposting on the website made it easy to find the site.On arrival we were met and escorted to our pitch after a brief bathroom stop.We were told about the guidelines on site and to order for the special dinners early. The site was well presented, grass nicely trimmed and no rubbish or old pegs on the pitch.the campsite rules were well observed by the guests and we had no issues with noise or other disturbances. The pitch location was ideal for our children to play without any vehicle traffic.I wouldn't have felt the same over by the main buildings so bear that in mind. The facilities on site are excellent we took advantage of the family shower rooms. We had Pizza on the Saturday and this was great quality and fair pricing. The shop is well stocked and the team were all very welcoming and helpful. We checked out without issues having had a great weeke

Our camping experience at Haw Wood was really good. I was looking after my two young grandsons in the absence of their parents and needed to feel really safe, welcome & comfortable. I did. TQ

Site was easy to find, all staff welcoming/helpful without exception. Family bathroom was brilliant (grandma looking after small boys e.g.) shop, cafe & fish n chip night all brilliant. Yes all good value for money. Playground GREAT. Distance to walk to water tap good too. We made expeditions to several beaches, Blythburgh church, Dunwich, Southwold. We didn't explore walks available FROM the site itself but I'd definitely be interested in that another time to save getting in car. Lucky to have 'two hedges' around us which made our pitch feel special. In bright morning sunlight I missed an extra tree for shade (but it made me think whether I don't need to get ourselves an awning or similar) Good to see more young trees being planted here& there (though one seemed to have fallen over a little - my 4 year old spotted this & was worried. Hope it's OK!!!) the presence of so many other children made the experience for us - knowing it was so family friendly. Thankyou

Excellent site

Holt, Roger - 04/06/2025

Haw Wood is a first class site. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The facilities e.g. showers/toilets are very clean. The shop is well stocked and for me personally being able to buy a croissant and double expresso first thing in the morning was a real plus. The surrounding area has a lot of interesting aspects. We spent a lot of time in Minsmere, which is one of the best RSPB sites in the country. Will be back.
