Come and stay in the peace and tranquility of Fortrose Bay Campsite, one of the best places to view dolphins, in their natural habitat, in Scotland. Situated on the pebble beach overlooking the spectacular view over the Moray Firth, It's the perfect place to relax and unwind. Enjoy a beach campfire and BBQ whilst watching the sun set over the distant mountains.
Fortrose is an historic seaside village. It lies 15miles NE of Inverness and is a great base to explore the rest of the Highlands. The Black Isle benefits from its own micro climate, often having better weather than other parts of Scotland. It is virtually midge free !! which makes it a great place to camp.
The Black Isle is actually a peninsula, rather than an island, running from Beauly to Cromarty at the tip. It is flanked by the Moray and Cromarty firths. It isn't certain where it gets its name from, some say its because the soil is so dark, others because the snow rarely settles on the Isle. Chanonry point is a large natural sand bar and lies between Fortrose and Rosemarkie village. It has a very scenic golf course and lighthouse and is famous for being the best place to spot the UK's most northern colony of bottlenose dolphins.

Lovely site just 20 mins walk from Chanonry point, dolphins within a few metres, when tide is right.Friendly site staff and good facilities. Prices are very good compared to other sites in the area. Value for money. Great views across the Firth.Would not hesitate to return as plenty places to explore in the surrounding area.

A waterside site with beautiful views, backed up by friendly owners who make it the perfect holiday location. Lots of one nighter stays in campervans and some, unfortunately, who like to slam their cab or sliding doors quite early, maybe without realising, before they set off on their next whistle stop day of driving. This is a beautiful site and location so try and allow yourself the time to relax and enjoy - just as we’ve found we do.
Thanks for your lovely review, recommendation and comments. We're working on a Camper Etiquette to display, your feedback is really helpful for that.Look forward to welcoming you back next time! With best wishes from the Fortrose Bay Campsite crew
The site had availability at short notice. Beautiful location, well-organised site and would return. However showers had little water flow and perhaps more were needed for the size of the site.
Thanks for your review and comments. Glad we were able to squeeze you in at the last minute. We do have 6 showers onsite, sorry you found the water pressure low. Have a great holiday Best wishes, the Fortrose Bay Campsite Crew..
Read a review in a guide book and made the booking. Directions and site were as described. Very handy for Inverness and surrounding areas.
Thanks for the 5 star review Michael! Hope to welcome you back for a longer stay in the future. Best wishes, the Fortrose Bay Campsite Crew.
