Drummohr is located in the grounds of an old monastery, surrounded by trees and beautifully landscaped. The shimmering waters of the Firth of Forth can be glimpsed through the trees and the site is close to the John Muir Way, the long-distance path that runs along the shores of the Firth of Forth. The site is an ideal location to combine an Edinburgh city break with the attractions of beautiful East Lothian, Edinburgh's coast and countryside. With 21 courses East Lothian is also known as Scotland's golf coast and Drummohr is an ideal location for a Scottish golfing break.
A wide range of family friendly and dog-friendly accommodation is on offer. All tent and touring pitches have electric and there are a small number of seasonal pitches. Single octo and double/twin and family hexi glamping pods provide a value for money alternative to camping. If you are a family of four why not try our Fairy or Adventure themed pod? There are also family bothies with private WC and deluxe bothies for two, some with private WC. For those who prefer something larger, our recently refurbished 2 and 3 bedroom Scottish holiday lodges with hot tubs and private verandah are located in a quiet corner of the site and are perfect for that family get together. There is a 3 bedroom self catering cottage Melville Retreat with outdoor hot tub.
Two amenity blocks with laundry, a dog walk, children's playground and a small on-site shop complete this charming site.
The bus stop to Edinburgh is a short walk from Drummohr and there is a park and ride at nearby Wallyford train station, just 15 minutes away. Musselburgh, with a wide range of amenities, is 2 miles away and is a lovely walk along the shores of the Firth of Forth and the John Muir Way. Portobello Beach is a short drive or bus journey. North Berwick is about 20 miles away. There are a number of gorgeous beaches within 15 minutes drive from Drummohr. The friendly wardens will help guests prioritise what to do during their stay.

On arrival at the site, we received a warm welcome from the staff who were both efficient and friendly. I particularly liked that we were escorted to our pitch and shown where all the facilities were. The staff were knowledgeable about bus and train times and happy to answer all our questions. The site itself was beautifully maintained. Facilities included toilets, showers, a washing up area and a chemical loo disposal all of which were immaculate and an on-site shop in reception selling the basics like milk, bread, tea etc. I was in a tent by myself and felt very safe. The site was well patrolled and quiet at night. It was a forty minute bus ride to Edinburgh and the beach was a ten minute walk from the site. There are nearby towns to visit and the Preston Grange museum is about a five minute walk from the site. You can hire BBQs and fire pits and also electric leads for the hook ups too. A huge shout out to the staff who were fabulous and I can't wait to return!
We used the campsite for our trip to Edinburgh. The campsite was clean and quiet. Bus stop to Edinburgh walking distance from campsite.
Overall, the site is one that anyone visiting Edinburgh should be based from.It is clean, facilities are all as required and easily accessible and secure whilst all the staff are so helpful and courteous! The only downside is the children's playground is located right in the middle of the main pitches and noise carries on to 10pm at night and should be curtailed by the latest of 8.30pmI had the misfortune of Having to tell adults to leave the swings area ( reported to site admin)Unless the play area noise issue is addressed, we would not return.
The campsite was easy to find, also being just a ten minute walk to the bus stop. The first impression was of it being well laid out and tidy. We were given a friendly welcome and directed immediately to our pitch. The pitches are generous in size with plenty of room between them. The positive impressions were lost on the first visit to the sanitary block. The facility is in a poor state of repair, and very poorly maintained. The duty roster showed no-one had attended to cleaning for four days. My impression was more like four months, or even longer. The floor was very dirty, the showers had very low water pressue and in one cubicle the door was falling off. All in all, especially bearing in mind the hygienic measurse recommended to combat Covid, the conditions were simply not acceptable. In my opinion this is down to poor management.
Felt really welcomed by friendly and helpful staff. Site was fabulous with a view to the sea. Edinburgh is a short trip away and the coast is gorgeous.Would highly recommend this place.
Great amenities, clean and tidy, easy to get to Edinburgh.
Nice staff and good location
Friendly welcome upon arrival. Nice level pitches. Good, clean and available facilities. Bus in to the city a pleasant short walk away and runs frequently so it was a perfect site for getting the Fringe.
A very tidy well kept site with friendly approachable staff who help in any way they can. We had a large flat monoblocked serviced pitch which has been the best pitch we’ve ever had to date. There’s lovely walks nearby for our dog and a handy bus service into Edinburgh to save taking the car. I’d recommend this site to anyone.
Beautiful lodge had everything we needed for our 3 night stay, even a washing machine! Very comfy beds, kitchen area was well equipped with everything and en suites in each room was a bonus. We even had a basket of treats and bottle of bubbly on arrival, nice touch. The hot tub was lovely to come back to after a long day although on our 1st night we got ready to go in and luckily my husband went in first as it was scalding hot but quick call to reception and a lovely warden came down to sort it out, no other issues after this. Such a central location whether it's by car, bus or train into Edinburgh which only took 10mins from Wallyford. Would definitely recommend Drummohr and really hope to come back in the future. Thanks for a lovely stay.
