Opened in April 1972, Craigtoun Meadows Holiday Park is set in a beautiful rural, woodland location, just 1.5 miles from the centre of St Andrews. The park has been regularly recognised as one of the country's best, and has been awarded the prestigious AA Campsite of the Year for Scotland in 1984, 1991, 2002 and 2016.
Currently rated 5 Star by VisitScotland, Craigtoun Meadows Holiday Park offers guests the choice of luxury lodges, static holiday homes, little glamping lodges, hardstanding pitches for motorhomes and touring caravans and grass pitches for tents.
While the hired caravans and the holiday lodges are equipped with modern conveniences and appliances, there is a range of facilities offered for touring guests to ensure they enjoy the highest possible level of comfort during their stay, too.
The amenities block at Craigtoun Meadows Holiday Park includes toilets, baths, showers, and a washing up area.
Around the park there is plenty for guests to do. A large children’s play area is complemented by a multi-sports court that sees plenty of fun as well as competition throughout the year.
There are two games rooms at the park, between them boasting video games, an air hockey table, table football, and two pool tables. A friendly coffee shop and restaurant is also found at the park, and is open for breakfast and dinner. Takeaway options are also provided in the early evening for guests looking to eat in their caravan, tent, or lodge.
A short drive or a nice walk takes guests into the centre of St Andrews, where they will find everything from quirky shops, tea rooms, and restaurants to museums and other cultural attractions. The town is perhaps most famous for its world class golf course, which can be seen from the roadside and even be played by golfing guests staying at the park.
Outside of the town there are miles of coastal walks and countryside trails to explore, while a number of clean and safe beaches are also worth exploring.
A scenic drive to the north takes guests across the River Tay and into the popular city of Dundee. Dundee offers a taste of modern life in Scotland for guests preferring this to the traditional style of St. Andrews and the surrounding villages. Tourists have the option of leaving the car behind and taking public transport into Dundee. The trip from St Andrews takes under an hour.
We have an awesome 18 hole crazy golf course - putters and balls can be hired from reception. In 2022 we added 3 electric vehicle charging points - you must register your vehicle in the office in order to be able to use these.

All reviews featured on Campstead.com have been submitted by genuine customers who have stayed at the park.
Only downside was being assigned a pitch right next to children's play area - might be wise to consider the likely preferences for a quieter space for a couple in their 60's ! Not that we dislike children - we've been there and done that - prefer the peace and quiet option where possible though 😅
Very poor not allowing dogs - need to be customer friendly for people going on holiday- first site I have ever come across this so definitely out of line with the market .Also was allocated pitch 27 behind a hedge and had no WiFi or satellite which is a basic requirement. Owners need to move with the times as was unable to do any work on site which was extremely frustrating!
★☆☆☆☆ 1/5Unfortunately, this was a very disappointing holiday. The park itself is clean and very well maintained. The toilet and shower facilities were spotless throughout our stay and are a real credit to the cleaning staff. However, our experience with the wardens had a significant negative impact on our holiday. I am disabled and, as a result, my son-in-law needed to help set up both my caravan and awning. My daughter explained at reception that there would be two cars on the pitch temporarily while this was being done, and she was told this would not be a problem.Despite this, we were approached by the wardens on three separate occasions within around 90 minutes regarding the second car. On the third occasion, I explained that my son-in-law was helping me set everything up and would be leaving shortly. The warden replied, “Yes, but it’s the length of time it’s taking you.” My son-in-law had only recently purchased his caravan and awning and was still learning how to s
A pitch right beside the kids play park with at least 12 kids on it most of the day. Not relaxing at all. Disappointed.
Site is ideal for a family holiday, we were staying in the touring area. . A few points I’d like to highlight:-1. Our pitch had little bits of debris on it, a hair bobble, a pink plastic cap , bag tie wrapper etc.. It wouldn’t take long to check vacated pitches and give them a rake, ( other sites are just as guilty)2.We had a patio pitch, the chairs and table inside the little shed were not compatible, also, the lock on the shed was unusable.3. We had serviced pitch but the drain was higher than the caravan.4.The children couldn’t gain access to the play park as the gate was locked and had to go a long detour.5. We understood that the site didn’t allow pets, but it was only for the touring area , the statics were allowed, so we would have appreciated it if they didn’t walk their dogs in the touring area.6. The toilet block is lovely and kept nicely, however, the noise during the night from the boiler is annoying and I heard a constant humming all night.7.Kids had a great
Friendly staff, immaculate facilities . The catering vans and hub are a real bonus
It great to return and enjoy a good patio pitch site with fully serviced facilities. Yes the weather was kind to us in July and it was good to be able to sit outside out unit even with an awning, the patio table and chairs are a bonus in weather like we had. Toilet block with full facilities was open all times and yet kept very very clean. Good space in the visitors car park beside reception and we enjoyed visits from family and friends. Keep up the good work for it certainly create a good impression hence why we return regularly. Many thanks R&M patio pitch number 45.
We had a great time last week at Craigtoun Meadows. We had a tourer caravan and our pitch was a good size for being in a large pitch, all plugged in and ready to go, is a good idea. Wee park at the back of caravan for the kids plus the big play area, great idea as kept the kids entertained. Toilet block very clean. Arcade and hub a good idea as not much of a phone signal when in the site, so to have that option if you needed signal helped.
Site beautifully maintained. Staff friendly and helpful. Caravan was immaculate. Area where our caravan was situated in the park was quiet even with the playground and crazy golf close buy. Its placed next to Craigtoun park with lots to do and see. Within this area is the Craigtoun Golf Course. Short drive into town and beaches. Lots of little towns an easy drive along the coast road. Anstruther, Crail and Pittenween to name but a few. Night we arrived at the park there was a pizza van on sight, seemed to be popular as it was busy. Would absolutely recommend Craigtoun caravan park for a relaxing holiday.
Overall stay was excellent, easy access, super pitch and amenities all to hand.Had hoped for a little corner shop just to hold basic items such as bread, milk, newspaper, biscuits, cake and ice cream etc.Otherwise an excellent few days.
