Situated in the heart of Wasdale, arguably Cumbria’s most majestic valley, Church Stile Holiday Park and Campsite offers visitors the most spectacular location from which to explore and enjoy the Lake District.
We offer a diverse range of family friendly options for your stay including camping pitches, electric hook-ups, hardstanding pitches for motorhomes and campervans, static caravans to rent, static caravans to buy, or why not try ‘glamping’ and stay in one of our traditional Shepherd’s Huts combining luxury camping with an age-old custom.
Nestling in an idyllic oak woodland setting on a traditional Lakeland sheep farm, the area is a haven for wildlife with stunning views to the mountains. Yet the pretty village of Nether Wasdale with its 2 wonderful country inns serving hearty meals and fine ales, is only a two minute stroll away.
Wasdale is home to England’s deepest lake, highest mountain and smallest church and yet the wonderful beaches on Cumbria’s coastline are only a few miles distant. Whether you wish to simply enjoy the peace and tranquillity of this unspoilt valley or take advantage of the many opportunities for walking, climbing, cycling and kayaking or visit some of West Cumbria’s many attractions, Church Stile is your perfect location.

The campsite is very well maintained with good facilities and in a beautiful spot.Three things to keep in mind, your drive will be long and you therefore might need to set out earlier than you think. The facilities aren't that close to your tent/camper, which isn't quite ideal at night, so come prepared. And finally, there is no mobile signal or wifi on this campsite, except for the reception/shop which is a bit removed from the campsite. This might not be a bad thing, if you want to get away properly.
Staff were friendly and helpful, very family orientated however they ran a tight ship so there was no late night noise or unruliness!Great holiday, my only comment would be it was pot luck which shower you got as some were not very warm and the push button lasted a few seconds.
From start to finish our booking was great. I had to make amendments to the booking and all of the staff were great during that process. Check in was seamless and we were giving great info not only about our stay but, when we asked for local tips as well. The campsite was busy as it was a bank holiday weekend but it was spotless.
Such a beautiful campsite and the views are stunning. The staff are really welcoming and friendly. The little shop is really well stocked with everything you need. Lovely clean facilities and nice showers. The pitches are well maintained and tidy. We would definitely return. Thank you for a lovely stay.
We have been coming up to the campsite for many years now and it has always been clean, tidy, peaceful, restful and friendly with a well equipped shop and a lot of local information to gather, see you again in 2024
Really lovely campsite.- Facilities were well maintained- Shop was well stocked- Staff were friendly and accommodating- There were some really loud big groups, but they were quickly told to keep quiet and turn their music off - Plenty of space and most of the campsite was in the sun
We’ve visited Church Stile many times before both as campers & staying in the static caravans. The location is truly outstanding & facilities/services on site are excellent.A great spot to entirely unplug from the world of everyday life as there’s no phone signal although WiFi is available at the reception/well stocked farm shop.Fabulous walks straight from your accommodation or simply immerse yourself in nature during your stay. We loved Listening to nothing but birds during the week & ventured into both woodland & mountain walks.Jump in the car it’s less than 30 mins to the beach.By the weekend the site was fully booked yet never felt cramped or imposing. There really is space for everyone.Despite having the van we did pop into the toilets & used the washing up (big sinks for cleanup after BBQ) & the laundry facilities. Everywhere was cleaned regularly & well stocked. All staff were super helpful & had great knowledge to share.Definitely recommend & will definitely
We were there for the finale of the beer and music festival.Great atmosphere.
We have used Church Stile on numerous occasions and have never had anything other than a perfect stay
We reported window locks, and when mentioned to sawmill staff they were attentive.Cleaning, bedding spotless, but low and high level dust and was very noticeable under beds and couches. It was cleaner after we vaccummed before we left, than when we arrived. The kitchen tiles and ornaments were greasy , tbh these really do need a good steam clean. Sticky to touch, occasasion ask cleaner to run a cleaning tab in dishwasher and washing machine, mould visible. The downstairs shower on my first use seemed not to drain, when I checked the drain bit was clogged up with hair etc from previous occupants! Not great. The cottage was as described, quirky, fab spot and garden great. The little dog needed watching as it could escape under the fence ...Thanks for the vouchers, a little bit more information re walk's from cottage would have been appreciated.Honestly, a great spot and I would say 3 not 4 star as Sykes described. I did not post this on their website but asked them to
