This idyllic retreat is more than just a destination; it's a haven for those seeking a perfect blend of nature, comfort, and adventure. At Church Stile, the team pride themselves on creating a family-friendly environment that caters to all, providing an array of accommodation options, including camping, glamping, and self-catering holidays.
Surrounded by the stunning landscapes of Wasdale, arguably Cumbria’s most majestic valley, Church Stile Farm offers a unique opportunity for visitors and guests to reconnect with nature while enjoying the modern comforts and conveniences that make for an unforgettable getaway.
The diverse options for stays include camping pitches, electric hook-ups, hardstanding pitches for motorhomes and campervans, static caravans to rent, and glamping in one of Church Stile's traditional Shepherd’s Huts that combine luxury camping with an age-old custom.
With stunning views to the Screes mountain range, the Church Stile site covers about 7 acres in total and provides a large level camping ground for pitches for up to 85 tents.
Shepherd’s Huts reflect the style of a 19th century Victorian hut. They provide a wonderful alternative to camping in a tent. Romantic and cosy, Shepherd’s Huts are the perfect place to snuggle up after a day enjoying the fresh Cumbrian air.
Church Stile's Holiday Caravans are accessible for weekly rental or brief getaways at rates tailored to suit all budgets. Guests are invited to immerse themselves in the familiar comforts of a home away from home within the fully equipped caravans, situated in one of the nation's most picturesque regions.
Church Stile Farm & Holiday Park is fully equipped with all the modern amenities you expect to find at a stylish camping ground. Including a children's play area with swings and climbing frames, picnic tables, washroom facilities.
The onsite reception building is home to a little farm shop that is stocked with everyday essentials such as bread, baked beans, local milk and eggs. It also stocks the items that guests may have forgotten such as tin openers, toothbrushes and tent pegs. There is a small range of camping gear also available including walking poles, camping gas, chairs, socks, etc.
We also stock some local produce such as Unsworth pies, Appleby Creamery cheeses; Woodall's bacon and sausages; not to mention Mawson's ice cream which is a well deserved treat after a long walk on the fells.
The shop serves tea & coffee, homemade cakes and takes orders for packed lunches. There is outdoor covered seating provided with WiFi available.
Wasdale boasts England's deepest lake, highest mountain, and smallest church and yet, the beautiful beaches along Cumbria's coastline are just a short distance away. Whether you seek the serenity of this untouched valley or want to explore various activities such as walking, climbing, cycling, and kayaking, or visit the numerous attractions in West Cumbria, Church Stile is the ideal destination for you.

It was a lovely site well set out clean and tidy and the staff was amwith myself and my young collie dog , will definitely be returning 🫶🫶🫶
Great campsite if you intend to take a jaunt up Scafell Pike or other hills in the area,no doubt a great place to camp for lots of other adventures in the area.Check in was easy, friendly, quick and efficient and we were soon told everything we needed to know and where everything was and we were pitched in no time at all. Little shop on site in the reception building, selling food, snacks, and drinks(soft and hard) and any items you may have forgotten Quick shower in the spacious, warm and clean facilities after pitching our tent and we were soon in the local pub, just a five minute walk away . Other accommodation types are available if you don't want to pitch a tent.Caravans, pods ,shepherd's huts and places to park a camper/motorhome. Great place to stay ,highly recommend
Pitch was level and had good hard standing for our campervan. Toilets and shower were clean and well stocked and warm. Area of the park was broken but this looks like it was being attended to. Lovely spot. Will return
Loved Every minute of this camp site, the cleanest toilets and showers I have EVER seen. I actually used these and normally I don’t as they are full of spiders and webs! 😭Lovely area in the middle of no where with no signal was so calm and peaceful. Lovely little pub over the road as well and a farm shop down the road which sits on the river. There is also plenty of walking routes about, to get u out and about exploring. The only thing I wouldn’t recommend is hiring the fire pits, they are too big and deep so use loads of wood and u don’t really feel the heat from it as it just goes up into the air but most people have their own unless u forget it 🤦🏻♀️😂
The campsite was well appointed, clean and tidy. The toilet facilities were good with lots of lovely hot water. Hosts were helpful and the shop was week stocked including lovely ice cream. Only frustration is the pitches are advertised as a main tent with pup tent allowable within the price. As we were already charged per tent pitch, vehicle and per person we had taken a small bell tent allowing us some space for 2 sleeping and a small area to sit indoors and a pup tent for the children to sleep in we didn't expect to be charged additionally for the pup tent. At every other site we have stayed if mentioned a pup tent is allowable a small 2 person mountain tent is fine for this purpose. However because the children were sleeping in it rather than just storage we had to pay an additional £20 for our stay on an already expensive pitch. This was frustrating as footprint wise we were much smaller than the large family tents around the site and presumably being charged just for one
I almost don't want to recommend this place as I want to keep it to myself! I've stayed here lots of times both tent and caravan and it is my favorite place in the UK. Terrible phone signal and intermittent wifi, perfect for properly switching off and enjoying nature.
Excellent facilities and friendly staff
Stayed here for 4nights with my husband and 12 year old son who has additional needs. It was the perfect base to climb scarfell pike and also spend some time by the river. On arrival the staff were welcoming and very informative, explaining site rules and where everything was located. Camping area was well kept and layout was over multiple areas . Pitches were flat and spaced out well with electric point close to pitch. Showers and toilets well situated, always warm and clean. Showers were hot and had a lovely private drying space a step away from the shower.Shop well stocked with everyday essentials. Free Wi-Fi near to the office. Large fire pits and off floor BBQ available to hire. We recommend staying, we enjoyed are trip.
Stayed at Church Stile several times before COVID, usually at Easter. Well maintained, toilet block always clean, hot showers, drying room/laundry. Shop and cafe as well. However, for me, the best experience is in the evening, if sky is clear of clouds, Wastwater Screes glow red/pink in the evening sun.A lovely place to stay with friendly, helpful staff.
friendly and welcoming staff on a quiet site in a beautiful setting.
