Situated outside the village of Creetown in Wigtownshire, Castle Cary Holiday Park offers guests a quiet and relaxing holiday in the heart of romantic Galloway. The Park has so much to offer, and aims to develop its facilities for guests year after year.
For tourers or motorhomes, choose between a hard-standing pitch with electricity and water connections or a touring pitch with drainage, water and electricity. The Park also has fully serviced hard- standing with grass pitches (some of which permit an awning). Grass pitches are also available for tents or tourers with or without electricity.
For those seeking a more luxury getaway, the Park offers a range of seasonal timber clad lodges and winterised all-season holiday homes.
Castle Cary has a fantastic range of on site amenities, including an insulated chalet-style building with showers, toilets, and baby changing facilities. In addition to these, the chalet also houses a disabled-access toilet, a laundry room with sinks and a dishwashing area.
The activities on site are next to none, namely the indoor and outdoor heated swimming pools which add a splash of added fun to your stay (small charge applies). For younger campers, a heated paddling pool is on hand, as well as a playground, crazy golf course, and a games room with pool tables and video games.
At the centre of the holiday park lies an old Scottish baronial-style castle dating from around 1580. The Laird’s Inn, converted from part of the old castle, is most welcoming with it’s ‘olde worlde’ charm, created by a décor of wooden beams, stone walls and open fires. Further to this, a family-run café opens daily onsite and serves breakfasts, meals, snacks, coffees and sweet treats.
On a sunny day you can sit, drink, eat and relax on its large terrace, enjoying magnificent panoramic views over fields, woodlands and the estuary of the river Cree.
The Park is located within the Galloway and Southern Ayrshire Biosphere Reserve, which covers most of South West Scotland and is a testament to the low levels of light pollution attracting Dark Sky enthusiasts worldwide.
Kirroughtree Forest and Visitor Centre sits 5 miles to the north of Castle Cary and is home to the world class 7Stanes mountain bike venue, offering a variety of routes for bikers of all levels, bike shop, endless walking routes and café.
The market own of Newton Stewart is located 7 miles north west of Castle Cary and has a wider range of amenities including supermarkets and a high school. Newton Stewart is known as the ‘Gateway to the Galloway Hills’ providing visitors with thousands of miles of hillwalking in the area.

Overall yes good value . all the essentials in the shop .love the pools could do with a spruce up in the changing area but we keep coming back every year
We had an absolutely fab time at Castle Cary. Staying in the non electric grass pitches meant that we had lots of room for the kids to run around and play. The facilities are top notch, the outdoor pool was fab and the kids loved the outdoor giant checkers board. We enjoyed visiting the donkeys and walking through the nearby woods as well. The only downside really was that the showers in the block turned off if you weren’t holding the button in and the light sensor (located outside the shower cubicle) was also on too short a timer. I had to shower one handed and wave my hand about outside the cubicle to get the lights back on, which wasn’t the best shower experience. Otherwise a great stay and all our interactions with staff were very friendly and positive too.
Stayed in my caravan for 1 night without electricity & was put in a field. Like staying in a farmers field that in a caravan park. Terrible. Won't be back
Booked 2 pitches together. On arrival told not possible. The site was half empty our whole stay ??Outside pool ..not cleaned scum around edges had to scoop out frogs before got in. Toilets are a iso container dirty old and smelly.Inside pool better however walkway from shop to pool was lethal as wet.Shop and cafe outdated and very tired.Park littered with rubbish.Over run with rabbits no management of them they were even in awning.Dog owners not picking up poo just walking away.Toilet block set up could of been nice if clientele cleaned up after themselves.Toilet block closed due to boiler issues. Witness 2 people pull clothes down and go to toilet over grate in full view.Weekends very noise until anything up to 3am singing playing football. No respect for anybody walking past caravans running their hands downsides of them. When putting awning up people were actually walking through it to take a short cut to toilet block.Staff were lovely polite and very helpful.
This is one of our favourite parks. Staff are fantastic and accommodating. The wee games room is small but fun. Cafes food is really good and reasonably priced and the onsite pub is lovely and great food and service. Will definitely be back.
We loved our stay at castle cary we had booked 3 nights and had planned on moving on but soon realised this would be a mistake and infact extended our booking twice making our stay 7 nights. The facilities were clean and warm at night, kids loved the pool and we loved the reasonable prices for pool floats/goggles ect The food was lovely and kids loved the milkshakesStaff were lovely, friendly and welcoming..We cant wait to get back next time.Would highly recommend.
All and all I found the site satisfactory, toilet blocks were better than some I've been too. Main negative. We were staying at non electric tent pitches and to my knowledge there was no water tap in that area so we had to go hunting for a tap. (Perhaps show on map where closest water is). Also it's abit of a walk to the toilet blocks .All and all I would recommend and likely to be back at some point.
Enjoyed our stay, friendly site, kids enjoyed and the rabbits were a bonus
